Greater than one weekBought to convert old VHS tapes. Tried to download the software. I have newer laptop with windows 10. Could not get past first screen because I got message to plug in Roxio hardware even though it was plugged in. I unplugged and tried different usb. Same message. I started a chat with Roxio which after awhile led to them creating a ticket and note tech would call. I called product support and that ended the same with new ticket. Both tickets were acknowledged and I was requested to send a description of the issue. No response on either for over 24 hrs and then received another email asking me to describe the issue. Very disappointed and I am now beyond my return window.

> 3 dayI have windows 10 and kept getting the no video signal signal error. I tried the tech support (Corel) but it took almost 3 weeks before they got back to me and by then I had figured it out. Once it is up and running it works well enough. The software editing is pretty basic but it does the job. *If you are getting the no video signal error its a windows setting. Go to search and type privacy. Scroll down to App Permissions and turn on Camera Control and Microphone Control. This should be in the general help section but is not and would have saved me a few days of messing around.* Pros: Works decent, easy to use, no software key needed just have to plug the device in when downloading the software Cons: Can be more difficult to set up on Windows 10 than it needs to be, Tech support

> 3 dayIt worked. It is easy to use. I installed the software from Roxio site, rebooted and it worked fine. The app doesnt have many options but that was the least of my concerns. Audio and video quality matches what you would expect from digital 8 video, in my case. If you just want to watch the video on your screen then there are $10-$12 options out there. However, if you want to convert and digitize the video then this is a good option.

> 3 dayI found that this recording device has problems seeing the incoming video from my VCR on my Windows 10 laptop. My old Windows 7 desktop does pretty good with it though. When trying to record DVDs from this I have to take the video to my Windows 10 laptop as it doesnt seem to know how to record with the older DVD recorder. Also I cannot seem to get the menu system to work. I tried to make Chapters and Titles for those chapters. It didnt tile the chapters correctly though each chapter button works correctly.

> 3 dayAfter trying another brand that didn’t work and no tech support after 1/2 a week tried this one. Connected to computer, downloaded software, fired up the VCR and success. True I have an extra step to import into Pinnacle, but this take minimum effort. Recommend this to all. One thing, I noticed they use the same tech support as the brand that didn’t work. Just saying.

05-04-2025My father was unable to link his vcr to his new t.v. My brother and I decided to get him a t.v. with a dvd player inside. I used this product to convert his vhs to dvd. I have made my dad a very happy man. He now is able to watch all the videos he has purchased in the past, especially when the weather interferes with his dish. He is still able to watch television! Happy dad, happy child. It warms my heart to help him with tech.

> 3 dayIts not a perfect system, but if you play with it, you can get the job done. Trick #1- the Video Capture USB device gets hot, and will burn up. When it gets too hot, the picture quality gets bad. It gets real jittery, and theres no fixing it- letting it cool wont make a difference. I recommend keeping one of those little blue ice packs on it (in a zip lock bag to capture the condensation). Dont leave it plugged into your computer when you arent actually transferring video. Trick #2- if the video doesnt show up in the app, try selecting Record DVD. Once you get the video working, go back and select Record, Edit, Save if you want to save it to your harddrive. You may have to do this several times.

> 3 dayI used this device to transfer all of my old home VHS tapes with little to no issues (Probably 30-40 half-hour tapes, some 30+years old.) The software is buggy (at least on Windows 10) so I only used it for recording. It crashed constantly if I tried to do anything else: editing, color correction, even saving a project. I dont know why you would use this outdated software to edit and trim instead of a video editor anyway, but other than that for the sole purpose of capturing video and audio it worked for me. No problems with the hardware, either. The video quality looks identical to the tapes, take that however you may. Overall I would recommend this.
