Greater than one weekPurchased this product a while back to convert VHS tapes and other media to digital format. The program would export the video using the supplied hardware device, but when trying to create a DVD, it would not play on my DVD players. Tech support said the program was not creating NTSC formatted output, and to use MyDVD to create a DVD. That kinda worked. They fixed the NTSC issue a few months later, and it worked maybe once. So to create a DVD from the captured video content, I use a third-party program. I then tried to use the program to capture audio from cassettes or LPs. Again the program would capture the audio ok, but when I tried to burn a CD, it would crash the program. I worked with tech support for countless hours on different suggestions, but that proved fruitless. So again I used a third-party program to burn CDs. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT, UNLESS YOURE WILLING TO PUT UP WITHA LOT OF HEADACHES TRYING TO GET THE SOFTWARE TO WORK THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO WORK. OR BE ABLE TO WORKAROUND ITS FLAWS.

> 3 dayA friend had very positive results with the Macintosh version and recommended it. I bought this product. Please pass it by. What you get in the package is the hardware USB interface and 2 blank disks. You are directed to a website at Roxio to download the software. So, after 2 days of attempting to install the software, all Ive accomplished is a waste of time. No software should every take this much effort to install. After downloading 750MB the installer progresses a little bit and says an error has occurred and quits. Forget tech support. Ive gotten the standard responses like: 1) shut down the firewall and anti-virus protection and 2) create a new user account with admin privileges (and go through the entire process again. The most frustrating part of the support experience is that the support rep insisted I provide him with a license key. News Flash: This package has no license key info. I needed to take photos of the box and email them to the support desk to prove I was an actual purchaser. (Incidentally, the software does not begin the install process without the USB hardware attached to the computer). Long and the short of it: Ive gotten a return authorization and its going back to Amazon. And, finally, Corel tech support gave that as their final recommendation: return what I bought and purchase another package (probably directly from them) with a software CD enclosed. No one should spend this much time just getting the software installed. PS: Running Windows 10 (64-bit) on new Dell with Intel Dual Core CPU (3Ghz) with 8 GB Ram and 1 TB HD.

05-04-2025I used this device to transfer all of my old home VHS tapes with little to no issues (Probably 30-40 half-hour tapes, some 30+years old.) The software is buggy (at least on Windows 10) so I only used it for recording. It crashed constantly if I tried to do anything else: editing, color correction, even saving a project. I dont know why you would use this outdated software to edit and trim instead of a video editor anyway, but other than that for the sole purpose of capturing video and audio it worked for me. No problems with the hardware, either. The video quality looks identical to the tapes, take that however you may. Overall I would recommend this.

> 3 dayI bought this product because I recognized the Roxio brand name from software bundled with past PC purchases. The USB video converter appears to work adequately; color reproduction is better when using S-video input, as might be expected. The software has the feel of something from the 1990s, with a poorly designed user interface. It installed properly on a Windows 10 machine, and does allow video capture. I used the system only to capture video to file, for archiving and possible later edit. Problems I encountered: - Check for updates initially appeared not to respond, then later reported Download failed explaining that FLEXnet Connect servers were unavailable. I never succeeded in determined if software updates were available. - Software did not remember a default choice of recording aspect ratio, so it was necessary to remember to select 4:3 when capturing from VHS tapes. - Recording must be started manually by clicking on the Record button. This may mean that the first few seconds of a video are not captured. However, the ignore gaps feature is useful when several segments have been recorded on the same source media, with no video signal in between. - Capture to file failed when I attempted to remove the beginning seconds of a capture; however clipping the end of a recording did work. - It is possible to separately capture several video segments and render them to the same file or DVD. Default output quality appears to be 8 Mbps. When rendering a single video sequence to file at default quality, processing was quite rapid; however, when concatenating two or more sequences, rendering inexplicably took far longer. - Documentation is made available in the application by clicking ? buttons; however, generally documentation is sketchy. For example, the Audio normalize option in Preferences is not clearly explained. I used this application only to capture VHS videos to file, so I cant comment on recording to DVD.

Greater than one weekThe parent company for the Roxio VHS to Digital file converter is Corel, which also owns the Pinnacle Dazzle product. There are compatibility issues with this product, but once loaded it works as advertised. 1. The product will not load on the HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 10 on 10th gen i7 processor with Intel graphics chipset. However, it did load successfully on the HP Notebook running Windows 10, 7th gen i7 processor with Intel graphics chipset and on the Asus X515 laptop running Windows 11, 11th gen i3 processor with Intel graphics shipset laptop. 2. Although the software is to be downloaded from the Roxio online store, the version that is available fore download is obsolete so you have to download a 2nd program after the initial software download/install. Corel could have made this a 1 step download process from their website instead of making it a 2 step process. 3. Format for the imported file is MPEG 2 compatible, so must download the MPEG 2 video extension from the Microsoft Store before the laptop can play the file.

> 3 dayThis is the second product I purchased to digitize my old VHS tapes. This is very easy to use. Software is downloaded from the Roxio website and the cord just plugs in to your computer and your VCR. The first product I bought required a CD drive to download the software. My laptop does not have a CD drive. I have had some issues when this program doesnt work, but it is an easy fix to repair the pogram by going to uninstall and choosing repair, taking less than a minute and the product then works fine. If youre looking for a simple way to digitize old VHS, I would recommend. There are also some simple tools to trim the video that are easy to use.

Greater than one weekMake sure you change the default label before you start recording. Works better then the original version I have. Make sure you pay attention to all of the settings previous to starting a recording.

> 3 dayI was very hesitant after reading several Windows reviews on here but gave thus product a chance based on the fact that its a Corel/Roxio product. Im not disappointed. Im currently on tape number 4 of about two-dozen Video 8 tapes from my childhood in the 90s. I forewent the included installation CD and got the software directly from the website. After installation and an update, I was ready to rock and roll. The software is straightforward and offers basic help getting started. 5/5 stars from me.
