Greater than one weekI have a lot of old hard drives with data, photos, videos and apps. I needed a device that can easily attach to my old drives, video camera and vcr’s. This device works great for my purposes. I didn’t use the included app much because I have a separate bideo editing app.

> 3 dayThis is perfect, really simple instructions and it works very well right out of the box. the information in the reviews was very helpful. got our home videos converted to digital format. The s/w is not always perfect, after 3 hours of watching/ recording during the final step of digital file creation it can say that it failed to create the file, but if you just retry it works. So, its not bad at all. At the end of the day, got all of our cassettes converted to digital file in a hard disk.

> 3 dayUpdated - after trying some other products that worked intermittently, I discovered my USB ports were all bad intermittently. I had thrown away the Roxio, and gotten another one, but it stopped working, too. After I bought a new computer, I dug the original unit out of the garbage, tried it again, and it has been working flawlessly for several weeks. So now I have two. The other products were just awful. Their interfaces were difficult to understand, or navigate, the video and audio were out of sync, or the recording image window wouldn’t go full-screen, etc. The Roxio is by FAR the best unit out there. Trust me, I tried them all. Original post (please ignore) - My first one died after about 20 hrs of recording. I thought it was a fluke and that Id get another and use the same software. The second one lasted about 15 hrs.

> 3 dayIt wont burn the DVDs. However, Im just glad that I got to save old home videos as digital files on my laptop. My only complaint is that the videos look more fuzzy and theres a pesky purple bar on the top of each video that has everyone looking like Thanos. It wasnt there before, but it doesnt bother me that much because it eventually fades away in longer videos.

Greater than one weekI have been fighting with this since July 15th! When I first set it up I was able to convert 3 short videos before I got the blue screen of death and that was the end of it. No matter what I tried there was no way it would find the video. Trying to get in touch with Corel Roxio support is impossible! If you are lucky enough to get into the chat line and they dont disconnect you before you can tell them you need support they will tell you they are not support and just give you a ticket number and tell you someone will email you in 4 to 5 hours. I got 1 email after 4 chat requests asking me to send invoice, picture of the box..all sides, the paper work included, UPC code and the device, a screen shot of the error and a detailed description of the problem. Ive sent the email with all they asked for 4 times and still have not heard back from the support desk. There are drivers missing in the software that you will not be able to install to make this work so why they would tell everyone that this is Windows compatible I dont under stand. Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus is anything but easy and is a waste of money AND time. At one time Roxio made really great programs but since Corel bought its not worth wasting time on.

> 3 dayI bought this product because I recognized the Roxio brand name from software bundled with past PC purchases. The USB video converter appears to work adequately; color reproduction is better when using S-video input, as might be expected. The software has the feel of something from the 1990s, with a poorly designed user interface. It installed properly on a Windows 10 machine, and does allow video capture. I used the system only to capture video to file, for archiving and possible later edit. Problems I encountered: - Check for updates initially appeared not to respond, then later reported Download failed explaining that FLEXnet Connect servers were unavailable. I never succeeded in determined if software updates were available. - Software did not remember a default choice of recording aspect ratio, so it was necessary to remember to select 4:3 when capturing from VHS tapes. - Recording must be started manually by clicking on the Record button. This may mean that the first few seconds of a video are not captured. However, the ignore gaps feature is useful when several segments have been recorded on the same source media, with no video signal in between. - Capture to file failed when I attempted to remove the beginning seconds of a capture; however clipping the end of a recording did work. - It is possible to separately capture several video segments and render them to the same file or DVD. Default output quality appears to be 8 Mbps. When rendering a single video sequence to file at default quality, processing was quite rapid; however, when concatenating two or more sequences, rendering inexplicably took far longer. - Documentation is made available in the application by clicking ? buttons; however, generally documentation is sketchy. For example, the Audio normalize option in Preferences is not clearly explained. I used this application only to capture VHS videos to file, so I cant comment on recording to DVD.

> 3 dayI dont usually write reviews, but I hope that my experience may be helpful to others. I couldnt get the product to work on Windows 10, but I did manage to get it work on Windows 7. Here are a couple of things I did that made a big difference for me. First, download the software from the web. Then, when prompted to upgrade, say No. Initially I chose to upgrade, the video quality was awful, so I had to uninstall it and download/install it again. Secondly, use S-Video instead of the yellow cable for video input. The video quality is considerably better with S-Video input. Overall, the product worked well on Windows 7. The product is easy to use, and the video quality is good. I was able to convert my mini DV tapes to digital files so I was pretty happy. I dont know why the product didnt work on Windows 10 in my case.
