We go overboard w/ decorations each year, and had a whole production of shutting off lights before going to bed each night. Not anymore. We absolutely love the ability to click a button and shut down the festivities. Not sure how long they will last but definitely worth the purchase to get us through the season.

I bought this when I wanted to automate the Christmas tree light since we can hardly see any of it in daytime and I dont want to keep going back to the back of the tree to unplug/replug it every day. It works very well for that purpose. I used Android app called Smart Life to connect to it. It was very easy to do. It has manual on/off, schedule of when you can turn it on/off, and even random function, if Im not mistaken, to simulate someone in the house when you are away. It has audible click on the device when it turns on/off. Other than that, its a silent operating outlet. My only concern is whether the electrical savings from auto on/off is greater than the WiFi component of it to justify using one. I would say that this device is good enough to use if your outlet is very tedious to access or you need timer for when certain things need to be on/off.

I love these programmable switches, but one of the 4 I got has a broken switch, so it doesnt work. I am hoping to get a replacement... I will reevaluate after dealing with the manufacturing company.

This product works on 2G wifi network and works well. I use the HGN app on my fire tablet to control. The size of the plug is big so if you have two sockets on the wall, you would be able to use only one due to the size.

These things were very hard to connect. I spent a few hours of trials and errors. I tried to connect using the HBN Smart App on my iPhone, but couldn’t connect. I even turned off the 5GHz band on my router. So installed the Smart Life App on an iPad instead and was able to connect using the AP mode. I tried to do the same thing with the iPhone, but couldn’t add the device, not sure why. Once the devices were added, controlling them work very well. The Smart Life app on the iPhone also showed the devices once they were added via the iPad. Integration with Alexa is simple by just adding the Smart Life skill to Alexa and link your Smart Life account with Alexa. The HBN Smart app on the iPad couldn’t connect the device either. So I recommend using the Smart Life app instead. I wouldn’t recommend this if you are not tech savvy. The timer function works well, but you have to schedule a time to turn off and the the time to turn on separately. Instruction how I connect is below. 1. Installed Smart Life App on iPad and register for an account. 2. Open the app and go to add device, and follow instruction: type in your 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi SSID and password 3. Plug the Smart plug into wall outlet, wait a few seconds, then press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds. The light will flash quickly ( a bit hard to tell). Now, press the power button and hold again for 5 seconds. The light should flash slowly. 4. In the App, once you reach the screen where it ask whether the light blinks fast or slow, choose Slow. 5. Now it will ask you to connect to your device, so click on Connection in the app, or just go directly to your WiFi setting on your iPad. There should be a new SSID for “SmartPlugxxxx”. Connect to that and go back to your App. 6. Once you go back to your app, it should automatically try to discover the device and will list the Smartplug. Click on it to add. 7. When I went back to the app Home Screen, I saw the device added, but the app continued to work on something and I couldn’t do anything else. So I close out the app and restart it. It worked fine after that. 8. You can link your account with Alexa from the app. Click on “Me” button at the bottom, and under Third Party Services, click on Alexa and follow instruction. I hope this can help someone else. I am still not sure why I can’t add the devices via my phone.

Works well once you get past the difficulty of completing the setup process. I’ve purchased five of these and they are always a challenge to program

After posting my original review below the company was quick to contact me. They sent me 4 new products which work great. They continued to follow up with shipping updates and I did not need to do anything. Great response time and customer service. I purchased a box of 4 of these a few months ago. I had not had a great use for them as of yet as I was just getting things set up with my Alexa at home. Today when I tried to set them up I discovered that none of the 4 work at all. When I plug them in the light turns on for a few seconds and then goes off. The on/off switch on all 4 do not work at all and therefore you can not set up the device. I then looked at some recent reviews to see if others were having the same problem in case I could trouble shoot to fix it myself and discovered others also received some that do not work at all. I am very disappointed.

The smart plugs are working fine now but the set up was difficult and the documentation poor. 4 of the 6 plugs would not work with their Auto Scan set up and had to be added manually. That wasnt difficult but the documentation was not good so there was some trial and error. Also, where you have to select the model of smart plug there are about 8-10 choices and none of the info listed matched what was printed on the plugs. Again, poor documentation, mismatched information. Two phones could not scan the QR codes on the devices so that was not an option for set up. Needs work.
