> 3 dayok not gonna lie i only bought the sony headphones because they were popular on tiktok and way more affordable than the airpods max. but i’m very satisfied with my purchase. while i do think the design of the xm4s are nicer, i think that the xm5s were worth the price difference (which was about $50 at the time im writing this). the sound quality isn’t mindblowing at first but tweaking the equalizer in the app should fix this. i’ve never owned a pair of noise canceling headphones before, but to me the noise canceling is very solid. it makes studying in decently loud places and commuting so much more tolerable. i will say that sometimes the band feels heavy on my head, but if i loosen the headphones a little, it feels better. i would definitely recommend if you don’t have the budget for the airpods pro or if you don’t use an iphone (although they do still pair well with an iphone too!)

> 3 dayFor those worried about either getting this or the previous model. This xm5 is worth it, the only thing is the design which depending on the person can look a little weird but the functions are top tier and the battery lasts so long

> 3 dayJust get a cheaper version or wait for this to reduce in price. Very much not worth the price

02-04-2025I owned the WH-1000XM3 & they were the best ANC headphones Id ever encountered, until the WH-1000XM4 came out & yes I did upgrade. The WH-1000XM4 was a big improvement over the already extremely hot WH-1000XM3. Needless to say I wondered if Sony would make a WH-1000XM5, because how do you improve on perfection??? Well I pre-ordered these from Amazon & I got the this afternoon. Sony not only improved perfection, they redefined it! The WH-1000XM5 are incredible! The previous WH-1000XM4 had 1 Sony QN1 ANC processor with 4 microphones & it did an amazing job at noise cancellation! It even had a handy button on the headphones themselves that once pressed would start an automated ANC optimization algorithm. Well, these new WH-1000XM5 not only have an updated version of Sonys QN1 ANC processor, it has 2 of them! Where the WH-1000XM4 had 4 microphones, the WH-1000XM5 has 8 microphones. Each updated Sony QN1 ANC processor has 4 microphones attached to it. Not only is that a dramatic improvement, you no longer have to start the ANC Optimization, as the WH-1000XM5 constantly monitors your environment & adjust the ANC to automatically block out nearly all noise!!! Further more it actually works extremely well! The WH-1000XM5 are nearly completely silent! They also support LDAC via Bluetooth with ANC & they sound phenomenal! Now I actually did buy all of these myself, trust me I wish Sony would let me test and/or review these things! But I have actually owned the WH-1000XM3, WH-1000XM4 & WH-1000XM5 & the WH-1000XM5 is absolutely the best of the best!

> 3 dayAmazing sound quality and comfort. The app is also great as it allows you to fully customize and control the sound to best fit your sound preference.

> 3 dayThe sound quality on these is really good, but not exactly up to par with some other comparably priced headphones. The difference really is very small though. The noise canceling and its associated features more than make up for that. If noise canceling is an important feature for you then these are the headphones to get. My favorite thing about these overall is just how comfortable they are. They fit all the way over my ear, which some other brands do not and end up being partially ON ear, which is annoying. The clamping force is fairly light, and the ear cups are breathable enough not to get too hot or sweaty while wearing them. Bottom line - I really love mine.

> 3 dayI have zero complaints about the audio quality, but the oversensitivity of the touch pad is so f***ing infuriating that the headphones end up having less practical use than some dirt cheap $5 headphones. Itll pick up a tap when I brush past leaves and even start spazzing while Im doing NOTHING. It keeps turning on speak to chat, and even the speak to chat is so f***ing oversensitive that it picks up subway sounds and coughs as me talking. Do yourself a favor and get the XM3 instead. They got it right a long time ago. At the very least, thank goodness theres an option to turn off gestures altogether.

> 3 dayTheyre too bulky. The case is huge, and the headphones dont fold in, so they take up lots of room. I liked these headphones a lot, but within the first month of use the right ear started playing little crackly sounds that were louder than the music. Very annoying. The SONY app and bluetooth do not connect as easily as my airpods, which I also found annoying. Seamless pairing is important for me, and these do not match up. The apps interface is outdated and difficult to navigate as well. Im disappointed, because I wanted to like these because theyre better than AirPod Maxes. Ordering Beats instead.

> 3 dayThese are wonderful. They are much better than my Bose 35’s. Recently upgraded and noticed the Bose hadn’t updated they’re product in a while and bought these. No comparison. Sony XM5 wins!
