This is the way to go if you are framing regularly. It is a much better deal than buying it in small amounts or in a kit from the hardware store. It is a good versatile weight. If you wrap it properly, it holds tight onto itself and wont come loose.

The pictures shown on amazon may not match the wire size so pay attention to the description. The larger sizes are thicker and therefore harder to work with so dont choose them unless you have a really heavy picture. You can weigh your picture on bathroom scales. Go one size larger if in doubt. Not the manufacturers fault, and this wire itself is good quality, but the Amazon packaging was poor and the spool broke in shipping, so the wire was largely unraveled in the bag they shipped it in, making for quite a mess. I was able to put it on another spool, but kind of a hassle.

This is my go to picture wire. Its easy to twist on the ends and wont stab your fingers in the process. It holds over 40 pounds, but your end tying technique needs to be up to par with that kind of weight or I imagine it will unwind if you simply twist the ends. You just need a decent cable cutter or it will still fray the ends a bit.

This picture wire is great and easy to work with. The plastic coating makes it very hand-friendly when tying into the hanging hardware. I have been able to hang frames as big as 48x48 and as small as 11x14 with this stuff. I have never been disappointed in its ability to hold a picture up properly. A single roll is size 5 wire gauge by 500ft long. It has a max hold of 43lbs. Standard wire cutters will cut this wire no problem as well.
