We adopted our Lilac Crested Amazon Parrot and I honestly couldnt tell you when the last time her nails were trimmed, if ever at all. She isnt crazy about being held so the idea someone could even get one nail trimmed is laughable. Her nails were not only becoming a problem for her but it was becoming increasingly difficult to have her sit on our finger or shoulder – her nails would shred our skin and draw blood. I replaced all her perches with these awesome pedicure perches so our girl was constantly on one. Canary prefers this perch for just hanging out or to look out the window! Really helps keep his nails trimmed.

The texture on the product is not the way it is describe. It is suppose to feel like sandpaper it is smooth.

As others have said the small is very, very small. If my 2 budgies wanted to perch right next to each other they would barely fit. But they seem to like it. It was sent by itself in a huge box, which was kind of weird.

These perches worked very well, but my african grey parrot, is very afraid of it, and still has not used it. My blue and gold parrot, loves his and sits on it all the time!

I bought the small size for my Senegal, and its a great, shorter perch -- the perfect size to go on a cage door. My little bird learned very quickly to go to his perch and wait whenever he wants to come out of the cage. Im not sure how much the textured surface is doing for his nails, but its nice that its smoother on top so its comfortable for his feet.
