Please be aware that in a power outage it will not turn back on by itself. To overcome this I set a turn on schedule in the app for every few hours on a fridge. It’s not like flipping a light switch, so it just insures it’s on. I’m no Fire Marshal, but I don’t know why they don’t point this out. Too bad it’s not an option in the app to have it turn itself on every few hours. I have these rectangle ones and the one that covers the other outlet and they all work fine with the app. BTW, set an off time for sprinklers and such and that’s your duration if you are in charge of these things around the house. Pretty cool and easy now to be able to monitor sprinklers (and anything else) from anywhere with just this one app if you toss your old timer and just use the sprinkler wall wart in this outlet wired directly to the valve (with an inline fuse!). You will need one sprinkler wall wart(<$20) and outlet for each zone.

This TopGreener smart outlet plug helps me remotely power my troublesome furnace OFF and ON from anywhere. My ten year old Bryant high-efficiency furnace has an intermittent problem. When the thermostat calls for heat, the furnace does a startup cycle of running a purge blower, then igniting the burner. The burner doesnt always ignite and the furnace shuts down. To make it try again, the power switch must be turned OFF, then ON. Once in awhile, this has to be done twice. We have had a service tech out three times, but the furnace always behaves when hes here. Last winter, we were overseas, visiting family. I checked our smart thermostat and saw it calling for heat, but the house was dropping below 60 degrees. Several times, our daughter had to go to our house and turn the switch OFF, then ON to reset the furnace. I needed to find a way to do this from anywhere. Smart switches that I found seemed to be intended to control lights and/or didnt have the capacity to run a gas furnace. I needed to find a smart device with a 15 amp capacity. I chose the TopGreener smart outlet rated to operate appliances up to 15 amps. I also wanted to be able to bypass the smart device, just in case there were any problems. The photos show what was done. The smart outlet plugs into a single receptacle that is always powered. The power cord from the smart outlet is connected to the three-way switch. The Common terminal of the three-way switch is connected to the bottom switch to power the furnace. The remaining three-way switch screw connects to the source power. Thus the three-way switch will power the furnace from the smart outlet or constant power. The TopGreener Android app works very well. The only issue I had was trying to initially pair the smart outlet. The paper instruction sheet packed with the smart plug is correct and worked. After set-up, it was easy to rename the smart outlet. It works well with Alexa, but the instructions were a little confusing to me. But I confuse easily. The ultimate test was when I contacted a friend across the ocean in Guam, and asked him to install the app and try to power my furnace ON and OFF. It worked!

These are off by default when they are powered up so dont use this on fridge/freezers because if there is even a short power outage these will stay off and your food will get spoiled if you dont notice. They work well otherwise and allowed me to determine the actual power usage of appliances and turn them on and off remotely.

I had a recent power bill that was up 50% from the month before and I had not even used the heat or A/C for 30 days so it had to be something in the house. Bought this 2 pack, and while the installation took a bit (has to be 2.4.ghz band on your wi-fi - including the device used to install) they are working as described. It would be nice if the app would allow you to add the local rate for $ charged for power so it could give you a reasonably accurate amount that you are using in a money factor. On a side note, I would not consider this to be an essential item, but it was delivered in 48 hours per PRIME. Nothing that is being sold by Amazon is arriving in less than a week - even when my vehicle was out of commission waiting for car parts.

Overall a good item, but can be improved to be great! Im monitoring a small grid-tie inverter and every few days the plug just turns off (not because of a power outage, which is another issue). This causes the inverter to shut off and electricity to stop being produced. Also would be great to see the hourly or even minutely chart and a feature to reset total consumption.

Setup can be tricky on these, often requiring the second or third try on the app before the device successfully pairs. Once they are paired, they work rock solid and Ive yet to have any issues requiring resetting these devices unlike other brands of Smart Plugs Ive bought in the past. Being able to monitor energy usage is very useful, as I like to monitor how much power Im using with my space heater and certain other appliances in my apartment, and this device has been fairly accurate at providing those readings. It integrated with Alexa with no problems.

At a time when several vendors of smart plugs and switches are locking down their firmware, TopGreener still allows reflashing with Tasmota which made it easy to integrate into my Home Assistant system. The tasmota template is the same as their TGWF115APM and I have submitted it for inclusion. The size and shape allows two of them to be plugged into the same outlet. Im not going to use it with Alexa so I couldnt comment on that feature and I dont know why Amazon is asking me to rate the warmth of the product :-)

I like the switch a lot, however like all devices of this type it need firmware update to work correctly. Once I updated the firmware it is working fine and I love the power monitoring option since I use it with room oil heaters. I would recommend it, but also make sure you buy WiFi switch with larger rating ie 1800W for a heater that is less than 1800W. This ensures you will not burn the WiFi plug with overloading it.

They work well! I was hoping the app allowed you to see all data over time, so as to look for power spikes, but the data collection appears limited to total kilowatts. Also, there doesnt appear to be a way to reset data collected, like if you want to start monitoring a different device.
