I hoped this would be like the one my dad had when I was a kid that just skimmed threw all frequencies until someone got on. But as of right now I can not get it to skim threw all channels have additional antenna and still doesn’t work right might be use error but it shouldn’t be that hard to figure out

Received the unit quickly from seller. Unit was as advertised. This unit is easy to set up and use. I live in a small rural town (under 10,000) and this unit picks up all activity in my area. If you need your area frequency numbers go to radiofrequency.com and find your state, county and city. There is a list of frequencies there. If you need help setting up your unit there are some short videos by Uniden demonstrating a typical setup which is very easy.

I could not get it to program so I returned it. Amazon was very accomadating in refunding my money. Also I found out later that it would have become useless. Police Departments are going digital and are encrypting their messages and the noise I heard on my friends scanner was very irritating and he had to turn it down. You can listen to the EMS ,but not the P.D.

The reason I bought this is because it is narrow band capable. The manual is actually incorrect when it tells you how to put in a frequency directly. it is possible but youll drive yourself crazy trying to follow the manual. The SVC scans dont scan every frequency the scanner can cover so that will throw you off also if you are just trying to find all users in your area. Best bet is to go to RadioReference.com to find the frequencies in use in your area. Note: This is NOT a digital scanner so if your local services use TrunkTracking you cannot use this scanner to receive those signals.

I liked everything about the scanner - like tone ,selectivity ,uniden got all of the things in common in one sector . I think I am a genius ( my girlfriend thinks i am a genius) , but I still havent learned the skills of programming it yet . Ive watched videos , read the instructions and I feel like I am unlearned and experimented with it -but to no avail .I would recommend this to my friends .

I bought this hoping it would have a better audio quality than the small handheld baefeng that I also have. I was not dissapointed. It comes in nice and clear and it also stays on the channel longer so you can hear the whole conversation whereas the baofeng would skip to next channel the split second they paused in conversation. It has a blacklight display which you can toggle on or off and a telescoping antenna. I live in populated small town on the east coast and I get crystal clear reception from the police and fire without having to even put the antenna up. For the people that say this doesnt work for them I dont think they understand how these work. First go to google and find out what channels exactly your police and fire etc broadcast on. Once you know which channels they use you can program them into the unit and then it will scan between those channels nonstop. You cannot just press scan without entering the channels you want to monitor and expect to get anything. Its not like your car radio. It als has a battery backup and a clock and FM radio which also sounds nice.
