The reason I bought this is because it is narrow band capable. The manual is actually incorrect when it tells you how to put in a frequency directly. it is possible but youll drive yourself crazy trying to follow the manual. The SVC scans dont scan every frequency the scanner can cover so that will throw you off also if you are just trying to find all users in your area. Best bet is to go to RadioReference.com to find the frequencies in use in your area. Note: This is NOT a digital scanner so if your local services use TrunkTracking you cannot use this scanner to receive those signals.

instruction manual not so good but a little button pushing needs practice. the instructions dont follow through with all necessary scenario steps necessary. mine does run on batteries. three fresh ones lasted a touch over 15 hours. reception is real good with magnetic base antenna up on top my of bird cage and its downstairs ground level + maybe six feet higher than ground level. audio quality is as expected pretty good. uniden should expand on this form factor. its an attractive rig. a more complete frequency spectrum radio would be rather nice to own with the scanner ability as well. i seldom give five stars and didnt think it deserves five but four reflects needed expansions.

Speaker is very poor. Over priced for what you get

If your area is analog, this scanner is great. User friendly and high quality. Easy to program and is really loud. The only thing I wish it had was Close Call. Its a clock radio with an FM tuner also. You can set it to turn off.

I originally purchased this scanner to supplement a 1989 vintage Bearcat 210XLT to be able to scan my local PD, FD, EMS extra frequencies. With the 210XLT only having 2 banks of 20 channels each, I was not able to have the capacity that I wanted. I thought that by having 10 banks of 50 channels each plus a much faster scan speed, this would fill the bill perfectly. To say I am slightly disappointed is a bit of an understatement. First off, the programming is not as difficult as some reviewers have indicated. Yes, it is a slightly different process than the 210XLT, but just read the instructions and you will be fine. My two biggest complaints are that the reception doesnt come anywhere close the the 210XLT. I have programmed them to the exact frequencies and sitting a few feet apart. The 365CRS only picks up approximately 60 percent of the transmissions that the 210XLT receives and most of the time it ends up dropping the transmission. I have tried programming on multiple banks and the problem still persists. My other complaint is regarding the quality of the built-in speaker. This speaker is pretty much next to useless. The audio sounds tinny and is difficult to understand. I plan to hook up a better quality external speaker in hopes of at least correcting this issue. I also have the squelch on both units set as sensitive as it will go but the reception has not improved. I have also tried relocating the unit and nothing has changed. If you plan to buy this with the hopes of listening to FM, you might as well forget that. I am virtually on top of an FM station and can just barely receive their programming. In closing, before you buy this, I would check out flea markets, auctions, etc and try to pickup an older Bearcat scanner if you want to stay with the brand. It is disheartening to see another brand go down the tubes as far as quality is concerned. If your locale is anticipating on changing to digital in the future, I would hold off and invest in digital equipment. Unfortunately, my area and surrounding counties have no plans to convert to digital in the near future.

Pros: Nice clean design. Relatively easy to program. Turn banks on and off at will. A full 500 channels with no pre-programmed banks to waste your time. Good Sensitivity. Antenna always stays upright. Clock radio and weather alert feature a small bonus. Cons: Only goes to 512 MHz - missing the 800 MHz band. Speaker is small and sound is somewhat tinny.

I could do without the clock functions. I bought this used because the price is steep. I use it often and it functions well!

This is a great desktop scanner at a good price. Quite easy to program and use. I own other police scanners and this one has the best sound quality.
