Small size but still loaded with some great extra features. For anyone just getting into using a regular scanner or a back-up ... this is your winner! Comes with a small antenna but still receives most signals you will want to hear and add an outdoor antenna later. Complete with AC wall power supply and a small user manual. Scanner case is plastic with touch button controls and an orange glow back lighted display which is easy to see in most lighting. Receiver is very good for Hi-band VHF, Weather, Fire, Police and EMS. Lo-band VHF and UHF were good but not the quality of Hi-band VHF. Radio has Alarm Clock and FM radio with a 3-cell AA battery backup for clock. Channels say in memory even with no AC power and do not need battery backup. Scanner is medium level easy to program for a newbie but one must read the user manual first and no computer is needed for use. Using the scanner can be a small learning curve of two to four hours of hands on use. This is one nice scanner to hear the latest whats happening in my local area now. Anyone wanting a good scanner this is the one to buy! I will follow - up post later.

Very good scanner for the money HOWEVER if you live in an area where the signals are trunked (encrypted signals that cant be picked up by everyday scanners) then you may want to consider paying the extra money & getting a scanner with trunking technology built in. If all you want to do is monitor the weather & listen for fire calls (usually not trunked) then this is the scanner for you.

This was not easy to learn how to use, but there are plenty of youtube videos out there to get you going. After the learning curve the product works great. The family can easily use it when I am on a call to ascertain our action level as well as estimated return time. Great for Volunteer Fire Fighters

This is a great desktop scanner at a good price. Quite easy to program and use. I own other police scanners and this one has the best sound quality.

If you need a weather radio or want to listen to radio, this does a fine job. As a scanner, it is too difficult to program and the instructions are of little to no help. Bought the scanner for my Mother, she could program her older one. This one resisted everyone who tried to program Junk…. Look elsewhere

Decent scanner, but not very easy to program. The instructions are not clear at all. I ended up returning it.

I inadvertently left a bad review for this scanner... The message was supposed to be for a hummingbird feeder I had bought... The scanner arrived as stated in the description... The scanner was shipped the day after payment was made and arrived when I was told it would be... Could not be happier with the scanner and the customer service...

Does everything I need it do and is simple to use. Has the police, fire, ems etc channel capability, plus the 24/7 National Weather Service channel, and the FM radio. The NWS channel is on there automatically, you have to store which emergency channels you want and which fm channels you want. You also have the option to have it alert you when there’s a weather warning in your area.
