> 3 dayI didnt do my research to make sure this product was compatible with what I had. So, I believe that the product is a 5, but what is truly a 5 is the service. It truly was one of the easiest and flawless returns Ive ever done. No one really wants to return items, but if you must, making it this easy makes it so much better. Thank you.

> 3 dayEasy to install S/W and hardware. Had problems with the VHS conversion but could have been my equipment. Beta conversion to DVD went well after a learning curve. Users guide installs with S/W installation which is handy. Support answered my questions vis e-mail in a timely manner and helped with a problem. Read the Users Guide thoroughly before you start because capturing, editing, and burning can be tricky. Suggest use of DVD-RW when first burning project. Then if o.k. remaining discs can be burned using one time burn DVDs. That way cuts down on bad burns and discs that have to be discarded. Warning: My Sony Blu-Ray DVD player would not play DVDs with title and menus in content. Eliminating them did not bother me but it might some users. Did not try editing.

> 3 dayWow. I had postponed buying something like this for years because I really wasnt sure what I needed. After searching around on Amazon and leaving the site, still confused, a wonderful email (thank you, Amazon!) showed up in my inbox, recommending the honestech VHS to DVD 8.0 Deluxe (marketing automation at its best). Their packaging was so simple to understand. I knew immediately it was exactly what I needed. The price was much less than I thought I had to spend ($55). And I got Prime shipping. Set up took just a few minutes, and I started copying all my old VHS tapes (ah, the memories!). Im just thrilled to finally start tackling this project. The ONLY negative Ive come across, is that I have to be there when the VHS tape ends, or the software will eventually eject the DVD without recording on it. This limits when I can work on it. Very, very excited to have this product.

> 3 dayMay change this if I get a hold of support. But got this for my wifes birthday she wanted old vhs home movies transferred. Each tape is 30 minutes. The first time I tried easy mode and it said it recorded it all but ended up with only 8 minutes. Then I did it again in advanced mode mpeg2 and got the full 30 minutes so was like ok now we are in business. But later started anther tape recorded 30 minutes at 1.8 gig, but then after it stopped it said 30 minutes at 1.8 gig, but only wrote a 700 meg file with the last 9 minutes on it. Thats also what it showed in the edit part. Tried 3 times same result. Now trying a 4th in wmv to see if that makes a difference. I do not care the format I will be re-coding in handbrake to hevc anyway. I raised from 1 to 3 stars, because it actually does you just have to leave it running on top of the screen or it will cut it. At least in windows 10 if it gets tabbed down you have to start over. I have used a lot of encoding software and this is more like a screen capture software that catches its box only and only when its on top.

> 3 dayFor the most part, I like this software/hardware product. I actually am very happy with the hardware. It is easy to connect my old camcorder to my computer and transfer to digital format. I have been putting them (transferred home movies from VHS) on disk drives (I call them thumb drives). My somewhat low rating is for the editing software. If you try to get too fancy making changes, the program stops responding and if you dont save your project OFTEN, you lose all the work (and a lot of time) you put in up to that point. The PDF directions are easy to read and comprehend but it wont let you email it to print from a different printer. (Mine is out of ink right now and I wanted to email it to work so I could print it on that printer.) There are a few other options Id like to see added. For example, there is a title screen and a credits screen in the storyboard editing. You cant copy a photo into either of these screens. It would be nice to be able to do that. It would also be nice to add a picture to the transitions between clips. And, I discovered (during this last non-responsive error) that you can add text to a clip but only to the beginning of a clip. I would like to add text to the middle of a clip, kind of like an editorial during events. I will continue to use this program; I just have to remember to save the project often and find other tricks to make title pages and ending credit pages the way I want them by making a new clip screen and adding a picture. Hopefully, it wont freeze before I get each edit done.

Greater than one weekReally liked this. Worked like a charm converting the VHS tapes. I didnt use the editing software as I already have one that I am familiar with. If your tapes are badly damaged, I wouldnt get this, but for the price I thought it was great. I did have to contact their customer support a few times as I was having issues with this working with my anti-virus program. They are American based, and extremely helpful!!

> 3 dayIve used this for just about 4 hours of video conversion. I have a Sony Hi8 HandyCam DCR-TR7000 using the S-video and RCA type audio cables. Simple to use - hook it up, set up the record program, hit play ... and it records. The end product is very good. Not as good as if the original was from a digital format and not tape, but it is very close. One piece of advice - when you are setting up to record and you are asked to enter the length of the recording - make sure you know the length or estimate more time. This feature is great if you want to leave and let it do its thing and come back whenever yo fell like - the recoding will stop at the time you set. But if the video is longer and the set time is shorter, it will stop recording! You can bypass that step and go straight to endless record, but only use this you are going to monitor the progress. You can stop and start a any point using this method. The only problem I have had thus far was the initial install. I had to run it several times. Twice to get the drivers to install correctly and then two more times for the software to identify my device. Since then, no problems at all.

> 3 dayWhile it functions, this is impressive software with several clever features that make converting old VHS or 8mm tapes to DVD format. But users should be patient, as the program will lock up without warning during the capture phase and youll have to close it out with task manager and start over again. The phone-access customer support staff were friendly and offered suggestions to fix the glitch, but to no avail. Now out $60, Ill be looking for other software options as I dont have time to attempt capturing videos 2 or 3 times.

> 3 dayI have to say Im very disappointed in this software. I purchased and installed on a brand new computer with plenty of memory and a very fast processor. I hate how you have to click on the Text box several times before it will come up for editing. The instructions in the users manual are almost useless. (the users manual seems to be for a older version of the software). Adding chapters is impossible to figure out as there is no instructions in the manual that tell you how. I cant log into Facebook to upload a video. For some unknown reason, when I added multiple photos to a slideshow, it imported them upside down! The software crashes when you go to the next screen to burn the DVD. Im not a novice when it comes to working with software like this. Ive used similar software for years, but purchased this package for the small USB Video Capture Device, because Ive tons of family movies to transfer. Now Im looking for different software and mad that I spent my money on this and wasted so much time trying to figure out how it works!
