> 3 dayI am LOVING this! I have VHS tapes that are over 30 years old. Ive tried transferring them over time but never really seem to get caught up (did I mention I have a LOT of tapes?). Ive used the GO VIDEO machine and that was nice but youre limited to just moving the video to DVD with no way to edit. And when the machine finally died, it was too expensive to replace and eventually almost impossible to find even used. Then I tried one similar to this product but no matter what I did, the video would not show up in the program so that didnt work. I just put the whole thing out of my mind until I came across this product. I figured with it being Amazon and Im Prime, I had nothing to lose. This is great because you have a simple interface for uncomplicated videos (all one thing and not longer than 2hr SP mode) and an advanced mode where you can do everything from stop recording so you can insert a new tape or fast forward to another section you want to record without recording whats in between and it saves each clip in a list to the right of the preview window) where you can even rename them on the fly - no need to open the folder where its being saved to edit the file name there, which is so less confusing and quicker. You can choose the quality and even the format (like mpg file or CD movie file or standard or long DVD file and more). You can even edit the video you transfer right from there or open a file outside to edit. You can set a timer, too. So if the tape runs 2 hrs but you only want the first hour, no need to watch the video. Set the timer and it will stop recording even though the tape continues to play! AND you can even export the files right from there to social media like Facebook! This also lets you create pix discs and audio files. Just choose which you want to do from the 4 very simple processes. Each is very easy to understand and it comes with excellent written and visual directions. The software disc is easy to install and it really is just the best! *Pix is of the advanced mode screen.

> 3 dayThe package did great at converting my VHS videos to digital files, although I wish it had an HDMI interface (does anyone still have S-VHS cables?). The short coming I found was in the software to edit the digital files after I converted them so that I could string them together into one DVD video, with chapter breaks and such. I had to get other software to do that. But with the conversion it did great.

Greater than one weekImpressed with the way this converter software and device has evolved from version 3 that I purchased 2 plus years ago. This new (Latest) version software makes video transfer a breeze in all ways. Well worth the price for all it does and all that is included. Great for converting VHS as well as 8MM video to newer formats to stream, burn to DVD or watch directly on TV..And yes, shipping was as always super fast.

> 3 dayThe Advanced Mode is VERY complicated. Dont have the time to learn it much less use it. The Easy Wizard would not work at first, after spending a couple of hours. Had to contact tech support. They werent sure where problem was. They Did spend a lot of time trying to resolve the problem. Suggested I trouble shoot on my own. I Later found an update patch for 8.0 , using Google, that SPECIFICALLY addressed the Easy Wizard problems I was having. Patched to 8.01 or 8.1. Works great now, for simple unedited transfers.

> 3 daySMOOTH AND EASY, thats the way I like it and thats what this delivers. I work in an edit studio where quality is important. I have had a couple converters that give just kinda grainy, shaky transfers (SOny Media Tower, Im looking at you). This one, if you take the time to just read the instructions, installs beautifully first time and does a slam-bang job of transferring whatever Ive fed into in. Some old Hi-8 was first, and it looked pretty darn good. Guys in the room were like, whoa! Were in business! We used S-video cable (not the supplied RCA jacks) for that. Did some VHS, and found that it gives a good transfer, but of course, its not a miracle worker. I had some garbage that is still garbage BUT its not editable in our pro machines where it wasnt just seconds before. Good VHS looks really good. The audio is very good too. No extra hum or hiss added. Operationally its a breeze. Sorry but those reviewers who have reported problems, I just dont get it. This thing does the job with a VERY easy to use interface (duh, push de button get de video). You see the video in the small viewing screen. Controls beneath that. Rewind, well, thats to rewind. Free updates. Sorry, its that simple and works great and stable every time we duh, push de button. Simple! Awesome. Exactly the way I need it to be because I function on a lot of levels with a ;lot of different equipment and just dont need a lot of fussy particulars. Good video from old stuff at last! The version we got, works on both the Mac and windows PC (have 8.1 and Windows 10 here, a disk was provided for each format). By the way, and this will be obvious, make sure you are buying for your type computer (PC or WIndows) if you dont get the one that does both because it absolutely will not work on the wrong system. Sorry for me, first time I didnt push de right button. But they took care of me which is something else I really liked. Real people at work behind the screens and phones. Buy with confidence.

> 3 dayIve used this for just about 4 hours of video conversion. I have a Sony Hi8 HandyCam DCR-TR7000 using the S-video and RCA type audio cables. Simple to use - hook it up, set up the record program, hit play ... and it records. The end product is very good. Not as good as if the original was from a digital format and not tape, but it is very close. One piece of advice - when you are setting up to record and you are asked to enter the length of the recording - make sure you know the length or estimate more time. This feature is great if you want to leave and let it do its thing and come back whenever yo fell like - the recoding will stop at the time you set. But if the video is longer and the set time is shorter, it will stop recording! You can bypass that step and go straight to endless record, but only use this you are going to monitor the progress. You can stop and start a any point using this method. The only problem I have had thus far was the initial install. I had to run it several times. Twice to get the drivers to install correctly and then two more times for the software to identify my device. Since then, no problems at all.

> 3 dayIm very happy with this software. Installation was quick and easy. I opted NOT to install the QuickTime portion of the software, which shouldnt be an issue, as I plan on using the Easy Wizard mode only. So far Ive transferred two VHS tapes to DVD, and both look very good. Typically VHS film quality, mind you. But thats to be expected when your source is VHS. The transfers to DVD are perfectly watchable. The only issue I saw was a small wavy line appearing at the very top of the frame(s). However, this doesnt detract from enjoying the DVD transfer, in my opinion. (Im not sure if this is a VCR tracking issue or something that normally occurs during the VHS to DVD transfer). My VCR only has one Audio OUT jack. So this results in the audio being heard in one channel only, IF listening to the DVD with headphones. However, this should be rectified by using a 2-Female to 1-Male RCA Y-adapter connection (costs around $5 to $10). The sound will still be mono but at least it will be heard through both the left and right channels (when listening with headphones). All in all, I am extremely pleased I chose this product for my VHS transfers. (My operating system is Windows 8.1 with a 2.0 GHz processor).

Greater than one weekWhile it functions, this is impressive software with several clever features that make converting old VHS or 8mm tapes to DVD format. But users should be patient, as the program will lock up without warning during the capture phase and youll have to close it out with task manager and start over again. The phone-access customer support staff were friendly and offered suggestions to fix the glitch, but to no avail. Now out $60, Ill be looking for other software options as I dont have time to attempt capturing videos 2 or 3 times.

> 3 dayIm using a Surface Pro 4 and the editing software doesnt work. It worked the first time and then afterwards it stopped. The video quality is poor compared to original vhs or 8mm tape and works inconsistently. Audio background noise and video discoloration and banding are evident but not on the original tape. The cables are cheap and often come loose. I had to use my own. You have to exit the software and then reopen if you are doing multiple captures or recordings. When first playing a video sometimes the software doesnt display the video and you have to exit and reopen the software.

> 3 dayWorks Great. The only problem I had is I had to download the software. The software cd that came with is had a large scratch. Would not load the setup file due to the large scratch. I didnt care about the CD. Im just happy that I have this for my home videos.
