I needed an external hard drive to have enough space for all the new video games that came out recently. I bought the SSD because I didnt want anything potentially slower than the factory PS4 Pro hard drive. Turns out I should have bought the 2 tb version because I moved all my games to this SSD for the quality of life it brings to my gaming. Load times are much, much faster. Whether its the initial load, fast traveling, details loading in, etc. Buyer beware, you will never be satisfied with a standard HDD hard drive after using this SSD.

When I contacted WD, I gave them my serial number and they couldnt identify my drive. They said they would get back to me but I havent heard from them. Could this be a faux product?

I have the larger spinning hard drive version of this also and this is much smaller and weighs next to nothing. I really like it, carry it in my laptop day pack for work and use the included encryption program. Am probably going to buy a 2nd one.

All works fine, only thing is that it just doesnt get to the max speed listed in the specs, not real life proof... There are some lexar SSDs that go up to 900mbps... This one is listed as 540mbps but it often works at 300 or so... Yet I give it 4 stars because who needs that stupid high speed, it works fine.

I bought two of these WD 2TB SSD external drives in 2019. I use them for music archiving and playback on my internet radio show. I take good care of them, store them in a cool place, never have dropped them and dont expose them to temperature extremes or crazy high humidity. I can say with confidence that with reasonable care these will give you great, reliable.service for years. On another note I also own an older WD desktop external drive that I bought in 2015...it continues to work well and without issues. As an archivist I always say that if youre going to put all your valuable stuff on external drives, buy two and keep them identical. Never put all your eggs in one basket!

The WD My Passport (2T) is a great product that surpasses other external drives I have try before. Compact, easy to use and FAST!

My son was happy with this gift. I didnt know what it was. After a long explanation by him I know now that is a computer in its own merit. Hes using it by now in his job, and has been qualified (by him) as the better gift of the later years.

Limited testing on an Inspiron 7573. No optimization beyond token attempts to keep drivers up to date. Windows 10, usable as D: second I plugged it into a port. No issues moving to other ports. Approximately the same size as a business or credit card, although not as wide. Will be lost the first time My kids unplug it. Downloading an installing a single Steam game at 10MB/sec Connected to usb-c port (has DisplayPort logo next to it) Writes to drive burst above 30MB/s but mostly stayed around 20-25ish. Avg response time 3-8ms. Connected to USB port marked SS for superspeed Writes solid at 20-23is, no burst, but response time 10-20ms. Please note, connected to usb-c i’ve seen write bursts to 140MB/sec. I don’t know if I can truly say the top speed of this drive, but the port on your machine may make a significant different

The out of the box formatting is not accepted by apples backup app, Time Machine. I am using the latest, Mac OS X 15.13, Catalina. I reformatted the disc and Time Machine is now working, backing up to this disc. Very slowly I might add. I have 222gig on my mac air and time machine says I have another 20 hours to go. Western Digital wants to take over as your Finder. I mistakenly installed the WD app before I reformatted and now my original 1T external Passport only shows as mounted under the WD app. NOT in the finder. Why cant they keep it simple?

Works great right out of the box. My only complaint with the product is with the USB-C cable + USB A adapter. It has a groove on both the adapter and cable allowing it to plug in only one way which is a bit annoying. Other than that this is a superb product
