I bought this as a secondary drive on my new laptop. It already had a WD Blue 500GB, but since it is a gaming laptop and I know I was getting Microsoft Xbox Game Pass for PC, I kind of needed the extra space. The performance is top-notch. Everything is nearly instant. It took me 20 minutes to remove my laptops back panel, 2 minutes to install the WD Blue and screw it down, Then another 20 to replace the back panel. Seriously, it has almost 30 screws. The drive was recognized right away. I performed a quick format and started installing games. My next upgrade will be to PCIe Gen4 WB Blacks, but that will be a ways off. If youre on the fence about buying one of these, no matter the size, just hop on down and grab it. Youll be glad you did.

For anyone with a PC that has a small C: drive due to a small SSD installed by the manufacturer, this is for you. You need to backup your system files to another drive or removable hard drive. I would recommend using a third party backup. The prices charged by computer manufacturers are ridiculous. I would make sure that the hardware is reputable, your using this as your boot drive if you only have one SSD slot. I was worried that I would mess this up, but it took about an hour to take my laptop apart install and test the chip and reassemble. I then spent 20 minutes to rebuild the image.

I bought a deal2go SSD adapter, WD 500GB M2 nVMe drive, and a M2 to Mac adapter card. My mac was performing very poorly with the internal HDD that came with the mac. The combination of parts listed above fit together nicely in the MacMini and increased the disk throughput from 60MBps to over 700 MBps.

It slows down after a couple of months. Only about as fast as a sata ssd
