This is a huge Ferro rod. Should last 20 years. I removed the coating from the bottom half of the rod with 400 wet/dry sandpaper, using the supplied scraper I instantly showered the driveway with 4th of July sparks. Yeah, its gonna work. Bungee cord was worn where it passed through the rod, I simply replaced it. 8 length requires some thought on packing or carrying. No worries.

Great product. Good length for getting larger spark clusters. Totally worth it. 8” would be cool to, but a typical stroke from me probably wouldn’t use the whole length and I’m 6’2” with XL hands.
