> 3 dayArrived today and I immediately had to try it. Had some wood shavings laying around in the garage after a project. Took some of it outside and made a small pile. Even tough it’s a new rod it took only 3 strikes to get sparks and a little fire started. So simple and effective!

> 3 dayThis firestarter is ginormous in length and thickness. It would take a long long time to wear this puppy down, which is exactly why I like it. It is not too heavy or really bulky to keep in my survival pack. You will get a lot of hot strikes with this and it will stow away nicely. Honestly, what more could you ask for from a firestarter. My only critique is the outer coating gets on your hands, but hey, in an actual situation where you are using this thing, something tells me making a fire is a bit higher on the priority list than having black hands. I give it 5 stars and will buy this same one again after it gets used up in say, 30 years!

> 3 dayIt sparks like crazy! I apparently just suck at bushcrafting and couldnt get my fire started, however, I would still recommend this thing to absolutely anyone. If you are complaining about the cord between the rod and the lighter - just knot off both ends, dont loop it around so its one long string.

> 3 dayI borrowed this from a coworker and took it home to play with it. I was very impressed. Started a fire right away. The one thing I would improve on would be the length of the lanyard. Other than that it was amazing...

Greater than one weekIt was easy to use. I had never used one before so it was a little awkward but I got a fire after only a few minutes.

> 3 dayThis is a nice length for starting your fires with. You get a longer bit of ferro to scrape and it makes a nice shower of sparks. Be sure to pick a nice fine material for starting your fires. I use dryer lint, which I keep on hand just for this purpose. I have tons of leaves that have to be raked and burned every year in the fall. I could use a lighter to get the piles going, but its much more of a challenge to use one of these to do it. And its good practice in case I ever have to start a campfire in an emergency. The good thing about ferro rods is, you can use them even if they get wet, which you cant do with matches. So, its a good idea to practice how to use this before you actually need it in an emergency. I keep one in my pack when I go hiking, just in case of emergency. These wont fail like matches or lighters can. Its hard to damage one of these to the extent that it cant be used, so its a reliable thing to have on hand for any outdoor emergency.
