Greater than one weekMy ATT u-verse router has both 5 and 2.4 GHz channels. Normal operation is to name them the same to allow auto switching between channels. This seems to cause a problem that is not really explained in the instructions. Why should the freq that the phone is connected with affect anything? Its the same IP network. There must be more to it... The Smart Life app suggested that I reconfigure my router to turn off auto switching by naming the 2 freqs with different names. I didnt want to do that. Turns out, I didnt have to. Use the AP mode method instead of the EZ mode method and it works right away. (you have push the device button for 10 sec to get the quick flashing light, then press again for 5 sec to get the slow flashing light.) I also got this to work in EZ mode by moving farther away from the router with my phone to a place that was out of range for the 5 GHz signal, but still connected with 2.4 GHz. That was more of a pain. See p12 of manual. Dont forget that you need a reasonable WiFi signal where the plug will be used. My house isnt nearly covered by the main ATT router. Complaint: page 7 of manual is not at all clear. There should be a link to online setup instructions. The product insert is too crowded. Be aware that after a power failure the switch always reverts to the OFF state. So this is not suitable for a refrigerator or freezer. I think there should be a firmware option setting to allow other possibilities

> 3 dayThe plug works well but the app is junk. I have Bose Soundtouch system so I am familiar with crappy software. Impossible to set up daily automation. Switching to Smartlife app.

05-04-2025I put smart plugs on pretty much anything I can. The first thing I like about this set of plugs was the price. The price alone for 4 is very good, there was a 10% off coupon on the product page and using my Prime Visa I received an additional 5% cash back. Also, living in the area I do, I was able to get them the same day. The have been the easiest ones I have bought to setup. They are 2.4 Ghz network compatible only, which has been the case with all the other smart plugs Ive purchased. However, when I set these up, unlike the others I have, I dont have to log into my internet modem and turn off the 5 Ghz network, setup the plug, then go back into the modem and turn the 5 Ghz back on (most modems today are dual band with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz which run simultaneously). So, all I had to do was plug in the plug, hold the button for about 10 seconds to put it into setup mode, go into the Smart Home app on my phone, assign it a name and boom the plug is ready. Repeat for each of the plugs as I used them. One issue I didnt like with previous plugs is that the name had to be one word. With these, you can assign multiple word names. For example, instead of using the name Lamp, you can name it Bedroom Lamp, or Table Lamp, basically much better descriptions for what they are. Once setup they are fully integrated with Alexa so you can include them in groups, change names or any other setting right from the Alexa app. So, you can operate these smart plugs from any Alexa enabled device (Echo devices, Fire TV remotes, etc.). Whatever is easiest where you are. Finally, they give off a little click when you turn them on and off. I like this because if whatever I tell Alexa to turn on doesnt turn on, I know if I heard the click it wasnt because I pronounced the name wrong or Alexa couldnt understand because of loud background noise, and that there may be an issue with whatever I was trying to turn on (like I out of lifetime habit, manually turn the device off by its own on/off switch. The only thing I would change is I wish they were a bit smaller. They work perfectly on wall outlets. You can use one and still plug something else in the other outlet or use two in the same outlet. However, I use a lot of power strips with multiple outlets on the and USB ports and the width of these smart plugs ends up covering the outlet next to it so I cant plug as many things into the strip. But I use the power strips more so that I have USB ports available around my home, so it isnt that big of a deal most of the time. Overall, I highly recommend these smart plugs.

> 3 dayI have an Ikea plant cabinet with lights, fans, humidifier and another shelf of plants with plant lights. Sometimes I forget to turn them off plus the switches to turn them off were not in convenient locations. So installing these smart plugs into the wall outlet and then connecting the appliances to these plugs make it easy to turn them off and off via app. The app itself is easy to use. So I programed the app to turn on the lights at 8am and turn them off at 8pm. No more turning off the lights one by one.

> 3 dayNow that Ive got them set up, these switches do exactly what I want. I have 3 devices I want switched on or off at the wall, and I always want to turn them all on or off at once. Both the BN-Link app and Alexa let me do exactly that, turn them all on or off from my phone with a single tap. I had a few minor issues connecting them initially. I couldnt detect any of them with Bluetooth, so I had to select them manually. The BN-Link app thought I had to switch my phone from my 5 Ghz network to my 2.4 Ghz network, but that wasnt actually necessary. Both are internally part of the same network, so it didnt matter that the switches were connecting via 2.4 Ghz. Alexa integration was super easy, but I ended up using the BN-Link app anyway. Id use Alexa if I wanted to use voice control, but I really wanted control from my phone, and the BN-Link app is friendlier for that. One of my 4 switches was defective, and wouldnt turn on. After some back and forth, BN-Link replaced it for free. No need to return all 4 just because one was bad. It took about a week to get a replacement, and the replacement works fine.

> 3 dayI had an older mostly mechanical timer for a table lamp. I liked to have it scheduled to turn on and off especially if I wasnt home in the belief it might fool burglars someone was there. This is much more accurate as over time it doesnt seem to drift like the former dumb timer. Using the app was easier after having used it for a wall timer Id already installed and configured. I do not integrate these with Alexa or Google however so if thats your intent you will need to either experiment or look elsewhere for guidance. There is a lighted power button so it can be controlled manually as well. However, if used in a darkened room the backlight might be noticeable. In my case, its behind a table in the living room so partially hidden and not an issue.

Many Words
Greater than one weekFor years we had tangled with different timers for lights in the house that worked ... for a while. All were different, and cost a bunch. I also wanted to have a way to know when lights were on and off when I wasnt at the house, and to even turn them on and off remotely. These filled the bill. They use your internet (2.4) and after a relatively easy install are ready to go. Once set up, the app can be installed on several devices so my wife and I can check on the lights at anytime we are away. The other thing with timers is IF you want to use the light that is on a timer, you must do the aerobic exercise to find the plug in which the timer is plugged and press the button to turn it on and off. With this system, you just open the app on your iPhone and press button for the light you want to turn on and its done. Same with turning it off. And I thought this will throw the thing out of sync, but it does not. No matter what I have done as far overriding the timer, the timer will get itself back in sync. Also, it allows you to define what days the timer will function. Very adaptable. Most important, I bought a box of 4 units. One didnt initialize. I called the company and after about a 5 minute test, the company determined the unit was bad and sent a replacement. It was great service - and it has a 15 month warranty. So, all is good. Actually I am buying more units.

> 3 dayI have purchased these in past, they had a feature where you could monitor energy usage by day by month etc. Great feature, because of this feature (better UI in app, friendlier more thorough than Kasa brand). I buy new ones and they have been removed. 1st pic ( see energy feature on bottom right 2nd pic shows how the stats look of the energy monitor feature 3rd pic. Shows this new updated model. Has no energy monitor feature Pic 4 and 5. Kasa Smart plugs. Still has energy feature just not as thorough as bnlnk app This energy monitor feature was great. No they took it away and still charge the same. Rip off. Choose Kasa Smart plugs now. They have energy usage feature though
