I use retayne for crafting when using materials. I have used this item several times and have been happy with the results. It helps with keeping the colors from fading and from bleeding. It locks in the colors to keep your item looking new. Great for use when quilting. I print out pictures with my color printer to make personal gifts and use it to lock in the ink from the printer. I will definitely buy this item again. Great buy for the amount you get. Will last a good while if used as directed.

absolute necessity for batiks

I am using this product to help some fabric I am printing on retain the design I am printing on it. So far, the fabric is holding the printed pattern very well. Great product for a great price.

The solution was delivered in an unsealed bottled that had been placed inside the equivalent of a large sealing sandwich bag. When the box was opened, and I pulled out the bag with the bottle in it, there were several ounces of fluid inside the bag. After using the Retayne on a dark dyed (blue) material, there was still bleeding after the wash. The material I was working with was thick so it may be more effective on a thin fabric. You can feel where it seals some of the fabric. It feels almost waxy.

I am making a quilt with both very light and very dark batiks. Retayne set the colors and nothing bleeds!

Does well

I purchased this product to use with new dark rinse stretch denim capris. It was ok. My washer was blue when wash cycle was done and I had also put in 9 color catchers for the 5 pairs of capris I was washing. (followed label directions...including washing on HOT) The worst part is the color was ALL over my hands as I switched the laundry to the dryer...Washed them again in cold water to see if that would help (without the Retayne)...this seemed to be a little less blue on hands but washer was blue...again. Cleaned washer and dried my leggings for about 15 min. then hung them up to finish drying. (the bottle does say to dry immediately). This appeared to be a BIG help. The capris seem to be much better....a very little bit of dye transfer. I only gave it 3 stars because the washer turned blue and there was a TON of color that came out of the capris...It seems to work ok (it is also for cottons so I have to give a little leeway because the capris are only 97% cotton 3% spandex). Would definitely try again. Not perfect but I believe it was a help.

This product is terrific. It does exactly what it says it will do. I was able to pre-treat a length of blue batik that had bled all over a previously constructed quilt, so I wont have to worry about the blue bleeding in future quilt constructions. Also, I was able to rescue the quilt that had suffered the blue bleed using the companion product, Synthrapol.

The best one of these Ive ever seen.
