This is a much better choice than my old timer switches. I have had two of those. Both stopped working in about two years. The kasa can automatically adjust the dusk to dawn time according to your time zone or you can set a fixed schedule. The app is easy to use as well.

Does its job as a weatherproof smart plug. The picture, as of March 2023, is incorrect - it shows a straight plug (the male end), but TP-Link support informed me that the new hardware version (v1.26) of the KP401 has a bent plug (90 degrees from the direction of the cord), and the old hardware version with the straight plug isnt being made anymore. 4 stars instead of 5 because it wasnt as pictured, and getting an answer from TP-Link support was unnecessarily difficult.

Easy to connect to Alexa. We use it almost daily. It has been outside in the elements all winter with subzero temperatures and has worked great.

Outdoor needs a little weatherproofing, but easy to do. Easy to integrate with Alexa/Google Hub

Ive tried several of the other cheaper smart plugs and its hit or miss if they work or not. I have 3 Kasa plugs including this outdoor one and they were all simple to connect (less than 5 minutes), integrate with google home and work just as I need them too. Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks extra and get the Kasa so you dont have to deal with the headaches.

This is a great product at a great price. Bought this to use for my christmas lights. The Kasa app is very intuitive, and I found it immediately connected to my home WiFi. There is almost no latency when turning on and off with the app via phone. The scheduling tool was easy and did exactly what I want. I use it as a lamp timer while away from home, and for Christmas lights during the holidays. Much easier than the old style light timers!

I am using this to control a gutter heat cable. I’ve only had to use it once so far and it worked just fine using my phone to control it remotely. Much better than having to go outside and manually plug something in or turn something on. The plug cover broke off but that doesn’t affect functionality. Deducted one star for that though.

I was able to use my Kasa app to automate turning my two lamps on at dusk at %18 then off at 11. Since I wanted to use the Edison Bulbs for they decorative purpose, i choose these, and they fit the bill.

Received this plug a few weeks ago, and have been using it for outdoor holiday lights. Packaging and everything was nice, and Kasa makes set up a breeze. Only slight quirk is that its got a pretty stiff cable, so not the easiest to get it set to an angle you want, or to do any cable management with. overall: Good quality, good experience, would order again if I had more use cases for it.
