I was able to use my Kasa app to automate turning my two lamps on at dusk at %18 then off at 11. Since I wanted to use the Edison Bulbs for they decorative purpose, i choose these, and they fit the bill.

Below is my 3 star rating which Im changing to 4 stars now that Ive done some more investigating. I thought rain was getting into the TPLink plug and causing the GFCI to trip - but I found out it was where the lights plugged into an extension cord. I removed the TPLink plug from the outlet and plugged the extension cord directly into the GFCI outlet and it tripped. Hmm. Guess the TPLink wasnt the problem. It turns out there was water in the extension cord plug from a heavy rain. That must have been the issue with my first TPLink plug also. So, if your GFCI plug keeps tripping and youre using an extension cord, check the female end of the extension cord and see if there is some water in it. Im going to wait for it to dry completely and then use electrical tape to keep water out of the connection. For some reason there is still some current going through the string lights even when the lights are off which is why the 4 star rating rather than 5. Original review when I thought the TPLink plug was causing the GFCI to trip: This is my second purchase of this 2 plug unit. I use it to remotely control some string lights. It was easy to setup and has good wifi range. It responds almost immediately using Alexa. I have a schedule so the lights turn on at dusk and turn off at 10:00 PM. Thats the good - now the bad. I turned off the lights using Alexa and replaced a broken bulb - and got shocked while doing so. Power was obviously still flowing even thought it was supposed to be off. I also noticed that the lights wouldnt turn off all the way - they would glow faintly. The GFCI would trip frequently as would the breaker in the fuse box. I figured I had a bad plug and bought another. It has been working fine for the most part, but the GFCI breaker would intermittently trip with it also. I replaced the GFCI outlet. No help. It had been working fine for the last few weeks until we had a lot of rain the last two days. It has now begun tripping the GFCI outlet again and the breaker in the fuse box. It says its waterproof but obviously isnt. Im going to get rid of it and try a different brand. Too bad because I really like it when it works.

I love that it can dim our bistro lights and it works with Alexa perfectly. Easy to set up and use. I would definitely recommend.

Need to setup the Kasa mobile app first, and add the device plugs with names using the included wifi. Then within the Google Home app, add the Kasa integration. I am able to group the plugs together by room. Can either include in existing scenes or command the devices as a group. If needed, I can also voice command individually. Scenarios are endless. I setup a time based trigger to turn on at 50% brightness at sunset. They turn off as part of my goodnight scene. I also found some logic using IFTTT to only turn the lights on when I’m home. No complaints with my floor lamps now being better managed by Google Home for energy efficiency. I like the dark color of the plug and cord, as well as the additional manual dimming ability. I’m sure you can add a motion sensor for even more improvement.

I first purchased the Meross Outdoor Plug for a hot water recirculating pump that I wanted to control using my phone. Hence, rather than having the pump running 24/7, I could simply turn the recirculating pump on whenever I needed hot water, with the touch of a button on my phone. At first, the Meross worked well, but then would start to intermittently lose the wifi signal, requiring a trip outdoors to where both my water heater and the recirculating pump were located so I could re-establish the wifi connection. This often occurred late at night, in the cold, and became so frequently frustrating, that I decided to try a different plug. Hence, my purchase of the Kasa Smart KP400 plug. It took a few tries to get the smart feature to register (an automatic shut-off after running for five minutes), but the connection to my wifi has been rock solid. I have not had to reset the link once since installation about a month ago. So far, so good. One caveat with the smart features that I had to figure out on my own--the app will show you when (date and time) it was installed, and it uses this information to coordinate with your instructions to the smart feature (e.g., turn on the device at such-and-such a time, on such-and-such days). BEFORE you program your smart features, refresh the date and time of installation, even if the date and time are correct! (There is a button in the app to refresh.) My smart features would not work correctly until I performed this one simple action. Had I known beforehand, it would have saved me hours of trying to figure out why those features did not work. This is the only reason for the four-star rating of the timer function. So far, Im happy with the product. Hope it stays that way!

Bought this after getting tired of forgetting to go outside to turn holiday decorations lights off and on, and am so happy that Idid! I scheduled it to automatically turn off and on based on sunrise and sunset via the phone app, and was delighted to have one less thing to have to worry about!

I use these to control my low voltage yard lights and seasonal Christmas lights. I really like the turn on 15 minutes before sunset feature. It turns the lights on before it gets dark no matter what time of year it is. Beats having to readjust mechanical timer pins as the length of days change. I have had these for over a year and have had no problems. I keep them in a waterproof sockit box so I cant attest to how waterproof they are. I also like the alexa integration feature.
