> 3 dayEvery now and again you get a product that just works. This is one of those. The setup was simple. The app is intuitive. The dimmer itself works really, really well. My LED string lights (Ambiance Brightech) can now go from fully lighting my outdoor space at night to a dimly light cozy space - and everything in between. If you’re getting a dimmer for your string lights and want an app with it - consider the Kasa.

> 3 dayThe title says most of it. Simply add it to your home automation environment using the TP-Link app and Alexa automatically recognizes it. We use it for outdoor Christmas lights, plugged into a weather proof, permanently mounted outside, GFCI receptacle. We’re saving energy since it replaced an old fashioned inside permanently mounted commercial grade mechanical motorized timer in a steel box. That old timer’s motor used electricity 24 hours a day to run during the Christmas Season. The TP-Link smart plug itself works great and is bulletproof reliable, even recovering reliably from power outages. And while its Kasa App is friendly and reliable, we do no use the Kasa app timer function for our Christmas Lights. We use an Alexa App “Routine” to turn the lights on 40 minutes before sunset and off at 1:30am... and then back on an hour before sunrise and off 25 minutes after sunrise. If we ever wish to turn them on or off on demand, we simply say “Alexa, turn on Christmas Lights”... and both our Christmas tree (also on a TP-Link plug) and outdoor lights come on. If we only want outdoor lights, we add “outdoor” before “Christmas”... or if we only want the Tree, we add “tree” after “Christmas”. (When adding the plugs, we named them “Outdoor Christmas Lights” and “Christmas Tree Lights”.) Minor CON: That rubber receptacle cover flap is not tethered to the smart plug if you’re using both outlets, rendering it easy to lose. We’ll always be using both receptacles so not a big deal to us. An aside: after we bought this TP-Link Outdoor Smart Plug, another Alexa-compatible Smarthome brand we use, Wyze, announced a double outlet outdoor receptacle for half the price we paid for this TP-Link plug. That Wyze plug adds a photoelectric sensor that can be used to automatically (autonomously from WiFi) control the lights. However, since we prefer to use the Alexa Sunrise/Sunset controls to have the lights on only for a period time before and after those events, we would not use that sensor. Having the lights on all night would waste energy. Furthermore, with the firehouse of new products tiny company Wyze has been releasing, they appear to be straining to maintain the wonderfulness of their previously core product Wyze Cam v2. TP-Link Smarthome products are just plain reliable.

> 3 dayThese switches are easy to install on your wifi and work seamlessly with Alexa. Our outdoor tree lights are standard C7 incandescent bulbs. With this plug, they come on at sunset and can go off at dawn or whenever you wish. And you can dim them, which I love. Want them on or off outside the schedule? Just ask Alexa! Want them dimmer? Ask Alexa! Dont have Alexa? You should, but it still works by using Karas app on your phone. But its much more fun to set up a routine on Alexa. :) We say Alexa, Merry Christmas to turn it on, and Alexa, Bah Humbug to turn it off. Original? I dont know, but it makes us smile. Have fun!

> 3 dayI had some difficulty getting the device set up on my network. The customer support person, Jacky, provided detailed troubleshooting instructions and followed up with me regularly until I was able to connect. The switch works really well on my Edison bulb string lights around my deck.

> 3 dayWorks as expected. I followed the advice in the directions about is facing downwards and it has been through some crazy rain storms and still is functioning. My only issue is the rubber plug cover broke off when I was trying to open it up. Oh well. It doesnt really matter since I will have a cord plugged into it anyways. It was just a way to keep the cover with the unit. I will just have to see if I will every remember to find the cover in the junk drawer when I store the smart plug. The picture attached shows where the little rubber tether broke. I would recommend this product thus far. I did not try any Alexa integrations. Though I do link this through the Samsung Smartthings App, and that works. Though you get a little more information in the Kasa App about the usage. I will say I have an disappointment in the smart plugs I find now versus the ones I used to get. I am not really finding any that give power usage.

> 3 dayBought a lamp which needed specialty bulbs recently so I couldnt use smart bulbs in it. It was also super bright even with only 15w bulbs. This dimmer was the perfect thing - I love that you can set max brightness levels and choose which percentages corrospond to which brightnesses (it lets you mark what 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% should look like) so that when you give smart home commands, its easy to choose exactly how they look on your exact fixture. This was super helpful because with the lamp being too bright, I was able to make some percentages less bright, and then made 25% brighter because it was too dim after adjusting. This dimmer is really perfect for specialty fixtures! Also cant wait to get another when I have outdoor cafe lights.

> 3 dayWe wanted a wifi enabled plug to use in an unheated hen house which is about 50 behind our house and on the opposite side of the house from the router, so about 70 away. This plug works flawlessly. I set it to turn a light on at 5:30 am and off at 8:30 am, and it does just that. I can control it from my phone, using the Kasa app. We just purchased a 2nd one to control the heater in our greenhouse. It was too far from the house for the Feit smartplug which would frequently go offline. This Kasa plug works flawlessly, so if the temperature outside drops lower than expected, I can turn the heater (plugged into the Kasa plug) on from inside the house. Highly recommend this plug!

> 3 dayI ordered two of these to control some deck lights and a pump for a water feature. I have other Kasa smart plugs so initial setup was easy with the app and it was a snap to add them to my homes Alexa app. One of the plugs would not connect to the Wifi from the deck in the back of the house, but swapping it with the other plug worked just fine. I imagine the range is not too consistent on all of these plugs. I had to re-setup (rename, etc...) the two plug which just took a minute. One is setup as a light control and the other is set up with a schedule to go on for a few hours each day to run the water pump. So far so good.
