Great tool for the price!

being non contact type you have to have any debris wiped away from the test surface and press firmly to get a consistent reading. But overall I think its good value for the money.

User friendly and accurate.

Seems to work well. Haven’t compared it to other meters but definitely picks up moisture when I’d it’s present. As to the accuracy of the amount of moisture I can’t say.

The first one of these I got didnt work at all. It would just make a clicking noise with a black screen. The replacement works fine, but is very inaccurate for measuring hardwood. I had some water damage to my 3/4 oak bathroom floor so i bought one to measure moisture as I dried it out. I had a floor repair guy out who had a professional model moisture meter so I compared the readings. The Klein ET140 would sometimes be within a couple percentage points but other times would be off by as much as 10%. I really wanted to like this device, but the accuracy is so poor that its not very useful.

Id give this 5 Stars if it werent for quality control issues Klein needs to address. It took three meters before I finally got one that read zero when not reading anything. The first two always read 2-3 percent when turned on and/or not reading anything. I contacted Klein about them not zeroing out and they said they were defective. I assume its a calibration issue which can only be fixed at the factory. That said I love the meter but it was very frustrating to get one that worked correctly.

I use this for firewood mostly and getting the flat sensor pad in contact with a log can be difficult sometimes but it is still more convenient than the prong type. I can take 4 or 5 readings from a log in the same time I could have taken 1 with prong meter. Accurate enough for my needs but Im just confirming wood is below 20%.

I’m trying to dry in a basement and have to make sure it stays under a certain moisture level. This unit is of high quality and is super easy to use.

Works as advertised! Very good sensitivity.
