Great tool for the price!

It works well and fast. The display is bright and very readable. The reading seems very reproducible. I am not able to check its absolute accuracy, but a relative comparison with dry area is usually sufficient. The audio beep and bright bar graph both make it easy to quickly determine if there is a problem. I was able to see the reading go down steadily over days as the wood dried out. It feels well made and is easy to use. The one downside is that it takes a screw drive to change the battery, which is inconvenient when I remove the battery for storage.

Id give this 5 Stars if it werent for quality control issues Klein needs to address. It took three meters before I finally got one that read zero when not reading anything. The first two always read 2-3 percent when turned on and/or not reading anything. I contacted Klein about them not zeroing out and they said they were defective. I assume its a calibration issue which can only be fixed at the factory. That said I love the meter but it was very frustrating to get one that worked correctly.

This unit helped me check several rooms in a new construction build for moisture. It took less than 15 minutes to do 4 rooms and the unit confirmed high moisture levels in one area I had suspected of water damage. Nice unit.

Ive historically been a big fan of Klein -- for products that are much better than no name imports yet sell at a reasonable price. This meter is the exception -- at least when used with hard woods. My interior space is betw 70 and 74F and betw 30 and 35% RH in the winter months (higher on both numbers in the summer). Yes, relatively dry. But no way is it as dry as the Klein meter is indicating when I test it any hardwood. It always reads in the high 2s to high 3s -- even with pieces of furniture that has been here for years. The EMC in my environment in the winter months is betw 6 and 7. I would expect some moisture left over from the summer slowly drying out, so I would expect 6 to be a floor. RH would need to be below 15% to get 3% EMC. Other than sitting in a dryer, that is pretty impossible. Clearly suspicious, gave in and purchased an Orion 930 with the NIST traceable certificate of calibration option. Well, the picture is telling and is typical of different pieces of wood Ive tested. Klein 3.0% / Orion 8.4% on a piece of 4/4 walnut that has been here a while. Useless for hardwood. Going into trash. Could it be this one unit? Possibly, but, I note that unlike with the Orion, there isnt even a way to specify the species of hardwood.... so I suspect this meter is not really meant for wood moisture content as its primary application.

Got this because we had moisture in some outer walls where sheathing bowed out. After sealing things I wanted to make sure it was sealed and see if some other hidden areas need work but it seemed like it either reported a low moisture level or excessive moisture with nothing inbetween. Also little context on results. Seems like it is meant for stored lumber and drywall rather than in-place materials but hard to tell if its doing anything useful.

I use it for my Handyman projects and have great accurate results.

I received it today so 4 stars for now for overall rating and accuracy. Its extremely easy to use and read. The battery installation is easy-unscrew the cover and in 2 minutes the battery and cover are in their place. The packaging isnt difficult to open as you only need to cut 1-2 sides to remove the product. Im pleased with this product, its speed, simplicity and the easy to read screen size.

For the first delivery received, the Digital Moisture Meter kept shorting out. I returned the items and received replacement (for all three items). For the second delivery, the Non-Contact Voltage Tester did not work. The GFCI Outlet Tester was fine. At least two of the three work now, so Ill hold on to them. I would recommend going with something of higher quality. If it happened to me with both shipments, theres no doubt that this is happening to a lot of people who purchased these items.
