Picked it up to test lumber when I go to the yard. Works well and seems accurate. My only complaint is the battery... toss it and get a better one (9V). It lasted less than 2 weeks, even with almost no use *and* stored outside the meter disconnected.

After a contractor poorly installed windows causing water damage, I bought this to check the rest of my home. I found two more areas that didnt show any visible water intrusion. Both new areas had dripping wet insulation. Who knows how long they would have continued to get wet if I hadnt made this $40 purchase. Now with every rain storm I run this along my windows frames. Super easy to use and read. Its accurate as it matched the waste restorations $1200 meter.

I HAD A GRAY WATER JOB, SATURATED WALLS AND FLOORING. I TOOK READINGS OF UNAFFECTED AREAS FOR COMPARISON, THE METER READ AS INTENDED ON CONCRETE, HARDWOOD AND DRYWALL. I WAS ABLE TO TRACK AND RECORD THE MOISTURE LEVELS AS THINGS DRIED. I AM 100% SATISFIED WITH ALL OF MY KLEIN TOOLS BUT THIS ONE PAID FOR ITSELF FIRST ASSIGNMENT! AND USE IT OFTEN. PRICEPOINT, QUALITY, EASE OF USE AND PERFORMANCE 5 STARS. THIS ONE STAYS IN THE TOOL BAG

We recently had a water intrusion in our house. We hired the pros to come in and do the dryout. Im sure this isnt the same grade tool they use. Theirs probably has some certification or something to justify the $800 or whatever price they pay for it. I dont care if this is off by a few percent or something... it told me the same spots were wet, which is what I care about. I cant tell you how accurate the numbers are, but this thing works. I just press it against what I think is a dry area to establish a baseline, then look for moisture. We are staying at my mother in laws, and there was a leak under a cabinet, and I was able to use it to test for moisture before putting things back. Very handy. I read another review where someone used it to test if their laundry is dry. Im going to try that next.

I bought this moisture meter to help me find the source of my hardwoods starting to cup, assuming it was a water leak. I used the meter to find a moist spot behind my baseboard. When I removed the baseboard I found an active termite issue!. The moisture meter was detecting the mud that the termites bring with them into a structure. Luckily the infestation was early. The termites (and their mud) were causing the hardwood cupping!. Best $40 spent in a while.

Id give this 5 Stars if it werent for quality control issues Klein needs to address. It took three meters before I finally got one that read zero when not reading anything. The first two always read 2-3 percent when turned on and/or not reading anything. I contacted Klein about them not zeroing out and they said they were defective. I assume its a calibration issue which can only be fixed at the factory. That said I love the meter but it was very frustrating to get one that worked correctly.

Initially the item worked well assessing moisture content on a sailboat. Then it suddenly would only display an error message. This is clearly a cheap product that works well, most moisture meters run around $300-400, so assuming the next one works for a reasonable amount of time this will be a great value. We shall see.
