I’m a contractor & I use this often for floor, Works great I really like it.

I bought this pin-less moisture meter specifically because it states it can read moisture to a depth of 3/4, and to measure the moisture in my fire wood. Its easy to use, no doubt, but is it accurate? I got suspicious passing the device over some pieces of cut wood and getting iffy readings, so I did a simple test: stick the device on my bare forearm: off the scale as expected; then over my shirt pressing on the forearm (so thats, what, 1/32?) and the reading is on the scale and around 20% moisture. So, yeah, just about useless for fire wood. It might work well for drywall, but given the above results I dont know that I can trust it.

I knew that I had some leaks on our travel trailer (whats new) but I did not feel like ripping it apart to find out where the water was. This tool confirmed my suspicions and told me where the water had soaked the insulation in my ceiling and walls. Since I have never used more expensive units I can not comment on the actual accuracy of this meter as compared those costing hundreds of dollars, however, for my DIY uses I think that this tool is easily worth its weight in gold. I can recommend it, especially for DIYers.

After I arrived at my condo, found we had a water leak coming up through the slab. As we worked to determine where it was coming from, I ordered this to help find how extensive the leak was and it sure helped me in working through the mitigation process with the contractor. I left it in the condo just in case we go through this again. Its not as accurate as the expensive units but its close. I had to use it convince the contractor he had not cut the sheetrock up high enough to allow it wall to dry out. Save me a lot of yelling when I showed him..

Works and preforms as expected!

Update: numbers began fluctuating and I went to return the item but accidentally sent a $400 Wagner Orion meter instead. Klein accepted the item that wasnt theirs and refunded me $40. Now Im trying to deal with Amazon to get this sorted out and get my refund corrected for the other$360. I compared this meters results to the flir meter used by my remediation guy. The numbers were very close. Now I have a meter that will show me when the dehumidifiers and fans have done their jobs. A point off because it doesnt have as many material types that others do. Will come back if anything goes wrong.

We had seen a clear water stain but it was hard to remember whether or not it was there before. Since we thought it was fresh, we wanted a way to test that would not damage the wall. Picked up this item and within moments after opening the package were able to detect that the stain was fresh. As a result we were able to get repair work underway before the next rain. Awesome tool.

Moisture meter seems to work well. Only complaint so far is the battery that was sent with the meter had to be replaced after making only 3 moisture checks, as the meter would shut off in the middle of a measurement . A new battery and it’s Now working fine. I have used it on hardwood, drywall, & concrete so far. I have no way to compare the readings to any other device to check the accuracy, but I have checked freshly cut oak which read above 30% and Popular that has been air drying for one year and it reads between 12% & 15% which should be about where the moisture content should be for that wood, so I assume it is fairly accurate.

Came quickly after we ordered it following Hurricane Ian. Easy to use, can be used on different construction goods, and seems to provide good data. Nice that it is non-invasive. Gave us good numbers to provide to the insurance company.

After a contractor poorly installed windows causing water damage, I bought this to check the rest of my home. I found two more areas that didnt show any visible water intrusion. Both new areas had dripping wet insulation. Who knows how long they would have continued to get wet if I hadnt made this $40 purchase. Now with every rain storm I run this along my windows frames. Super easy to use and read. Its accurate as it matched the waste restorations $1200 meter.
