So my boyfriend already has this model so I knew I wanted it bc its AMAZING. I have 2 dogs that shed like crazy and its a daily battle to keep the dirt level down. I had a another cheaper robovac but it doesnt map and was quite stupid, honestly. It would get off the dock and immediately head for the one place it always got stuck. Plus the dust cup was minuscule and brushes pretty cheap...but it helped keep the dust and dander and fur to a sort of acceptable layer between my weekly moppings and eod vacuuming. Anyway... I was constantly jealous over the bfs overkill of a robovac since hes already a pretty clean guy and only has a very sedentary cat that barely sheds.... Seemed like such a waste of such fine cleaning abilities and large dust storage... After many unsuccessful attempts to get him to trade me, and then just buy me one, I broke down and looked at the available options. I was distraught. Hell no, I couldnt afford a new one. Couldnt afford one like new or even used, good. But thats when I saw the used, acceptable with large cosmetic blemishes for nearly half the price. Who cares about a pretty face, I asked myself? Certainly not me, as I threw a resentful glance at the boyfriend. I took the future of my clean floors in my own hands and ordered. It came the next day in its original packaging that had obviously once been opened but at least put back together with care... And it still had the stickers on the base and vac! There were a few scuffs on the top and bottom but hey, nothing I couldnt live with. On a whim I grabbed a microfiber cloth and started swiping... And much to my delight the scuffs came right off and I have what appears to be a nearly new shark robovac for half the price. Yes, you can tell its been run maybe once. But the brushes were still in the packaging and the dust cup has nary a spec inside. Score!! Connecting to wifi was tedious but ONLY bc it was my stupid android phone being.. Well... Android. It wouldnt give me the wifi network for reasons I still cant figure out...but after several hours of resetting wifi and multiple other interventions I had enough. Out of desperation I used my company iphone and had it connected in less than a minute, then just logged in to the app through my personal phone and havent had an issue at all. So if youre having issues, try a different phone first before you unplug every wifi device in the house, reset your router, reinstall the app, and reboot your phone.....for the 4th time. Conclusion: Buy it. Even the used acceptable one. Try another phone before giving up on the wifi connection. My little Ruby is now happily mapping my home and I look forward to clean floors and minimal dust emptying. Now, if I can just get that microfiber cloth to work on the other blemishes in my life....

I dont review many products - generally I do so to prevent buyers from being ripped off because the quality of product is poor, or if the item is fairly expensive and buyers (like me) want details to make a buying decision, so, here it is. We are first time users of a robot vacuum; it has been a few weeks and, so far, we are very pleased with the performance of the Shark AV1010AE IQ Robot Vacuum w/XL Self-empty Base, we affectionately call Timmy. Timmy does a great job keeping our first floor pet hair free. We have hardwoods throughout with some low-pile area rugs that Timmy also does a great job on. The first few runs were slow, as Timmy mapped out the areas. Now, we love that we can send Timmy out to clean a specific area. However, our routine is a daily run in the early morning. Initially we thought we would run it while we slept, however, the noise would be distracting and cause the dogs to bark. One thing is that the self-empty base requires emptying every 2-3 runs but that is because our dogs shed quite a bit (and I contribute with my long hair). I am curious to see how the brushes and sweepers do over time but, so far, we are very pleased. I rated it 4 on cleaning and suction power because the device cannot get everywhere and suction doesnt allow the device to get all hair out of carpeting. Also, spend the time to clear your floors, secure/raise cords, and other secure or move items that might block your robot from accessing an area to clean or get tangled/stuck. It will allow your robot to clean more and not require you to rescue it. One negative was Timmy went out cleaning and ran out of battery (so I had to return him to base). Improvements to the return to home feature would be nice, although this has only happened once and it may have been because Timmy was still learning the floorplan and distances. All in all, this is a great product. Yes, youll still need to do routine cleaning yourself to get areas like under and behind furniture, deeper cleaning of carpets, and smaller spaces that vacuum cannot access. However, for the areas our Timmy can access are clean and free of hair, dust, and dirt - and that I love! It used to be, opening all the blinds would immediately send me for the vacuum, but now, Timmy running around each morning through the week means I can open the blinds and not feel the need to run for my dustmop, broom, and vacuum. Highly recommend this product for a home with hard surfaces, low pile area rugs, and pets!

To start with the straightforward stuff, it is a fantastic product for those looking for something simple to keep their rooms clean when they cannot do this. I would not recommend it for super heavy cleaning of tons and tons of fur if you have a husky or another large shedder. I do not have any pets, so this was fine with me. I use it in my basement because it gets pretty dusty down there fairly quickly. It keeps it very clean, especially from all the debris knocked off of shoes. The app was, at first, minimal and did not provide much control over the robot. But they just recently released an update that shows a more clean interface, and it allows you to pause the robot if there’s an issue. Before there was no pause button, so it would be difficult to resume it when the robot would get stuck in a situation. It definitely takes more than a few runs to learn your room and to stop running into things. I have watched it slowly grasp where everything is, and it has finally stopped running into problems as much. It used to get stuck under my computer chair, but now it recognizes it and completely ignores it. It does an excellent job of cleaning dust, debris, and even little critters. There are 3 different modes to choose from when it comes to suction strength: • Eco mode is suitable for light cleaning around the rooms if you want to save the battery and such. • Normal mode works fine if you are doing a regular clean. I mainly use this mode because it cleans the best while reaching all rooms without running out of battery. • Max mode will cause it to lose battery much quicker, but it will clean at the maximum suction. This mode is excellent for these types of situations. However, I would not recommend using this mode if the area you are cleaning is large in size.

First. I love this little robot. I’ve named her Rosie. She vacuums dust, sand and dog hair wonderfully and without any fuss. I schedule her to vacuum every morning since I have 3 dogs and a lot of dog hair. Second… I hate this robot. I thought the sensors were upgraded to detect dog poop. This was a selling point for me since I have dogs that sometimes have accidents and I’ve heard horror stories. Now I have a horror story if my own. Now, trust me that I didn’t put poop somewhere to test out the sensors bc I absolutely did not but here we are. An hour later after cleaning poo from my beloved robot vacuum… from every tread of both very nice wheels, every crevice and screw on the underside of my wonderful household helper. I still have to deep clean EVERY FLOOR she vacuumed AFTER she vacuumed poo bc of course the poo was in the first room. I am filled with rage that has fueled me to write this pleasant review about poo sensors on my robot vacuum not working. Also… in case of these incidents, I feel like the entire bottom of the vacuum should be easier to clean. It was a nightmare to get it all.

UPDATE 2 6 Sept 2022: you can set a time to have the robot go to station every 30 mins to charge or/and empty itself. So increasing to 5 stars from 3. Love this thing. By the way if it stops charging make sure the on/off button on robot itself is indeed on. I had picked it up and didnt realize i turned it off and for 2 days I couldnt figure out why it wasnt charging hahaha UPDATE: the robot does an amazing job cleaning the whole house. The map shows that it didnt miss a thing. My only problem this far is it does not empty when it was full. The suction was not strong enough to empty it automatically because the robot was packed full, hubby had to manually do this. What is the point of having a system that is supposed to empty when its full but doesnt do so. I have several furr babies that sheds. The robot should empty when full the head out again. We had to go around and pick up clumps of hair. So Im knocking two stars off because we bought this for self emptying opinion. I just received this item. The set-up is extremely easy as the app you download too. I tested it out and so far I am pleased. I had an Roomba for years and was very expensive and very loud. Sounded like a jet was in my house. After it stopped cleaning the carpet I decided to try something different and I am happy I did. The vacuum itself is much quiter than the Roomba. It is a vacuum so it does make noise, but not so annoying where i have to turn the tv up max volume. The emtying bin is also quite while doing its job. I am happily surprised. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Though the Shark is not cheap it is much cheaper than a similar system from Roomba. The bonus feature is the double spinning brushes in the front that captures all the corners and walls no matter what side it is vacuuming from. My Roomba only had one so if it was vacuuming on the opposite side the dirt was missed. I still get my regular vacuum out for deep cleaning, but as someone with 3 dogs/3 cats I anticipate this vacuum will make my life so much easier.

I bought this at a Black Friday sale for about 300 dollars. I was skeptical about the abilities of such a small vacuum compared to the amount of hair German Shepherds leave laying on the floor at home. I have to admit, I was WRONG to judge. This thing is AWESOME!! It has cut my workload from 2 times a week vacuuming hair, to just spot cleaning the few clumps the vacuum couldnt reach. Im walking around in my socks on the bare floor, just to see how well its doing, and I cant see any dirt or hair on the bottom of my sock. And the BEST part is it finds its way back to the dock and EMPTIES itself, then gets back after it!!! I can even use my Google Home voice prompts to clean the floor and BOOM its off vacuuming... *Do not listen to the negative reviews. I am here to tell you, this thing is a WINNER!* Keep this in mind though..... Technology of any kind is never perfect. Do not go into this believing it will solve all of your floor cleaning problems because it wont. This is merely a tool to help make life a little easier, but it wont replace still needing to vacuum a few spots here and there. Whats important is that you FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS and set it up properly, then just let it clean as much of your house as often as possible. Over time, the device will map your house and have a better idea of the areas and directions it needs to go. You will start to notice it anticipate corners and lengths or hallways almost perfectly. Just be patient and let the device learn. AGAIN, THIS TAKES TIME!! It is not instant.

I wanted to write this review for any other pet owners. My wife and I have 3 dogs and a cat. We have also tried two other styles of robot vacuum cleaner. The first was a bog standard one that used a roller with brushes, etc. It was CONSTANTLY getting tangled up with hair and in the end the roller socket was damaged and I could not find a replacement part for it. The second bot was a deebot vacuum with no roller what so ever. It was a pure suction based vacuum for non-carpeted flooring. It worked great with one catch. We had to go around after it and pick up hairballs that it would leave everywhere. Otherwise it was great. If we had ran it daily I think it would have minimized the hair balls, but one of our dogs would attack it went near her. This vacuum does use a roller, but it robot itself is not as loud as the pure vacuum one. However when it docks and the base station activates to suck out the robots cartridge, it does get a little on the loud side. But its a vacuum and that it is very short lived. After owning it for two weeks I can say that I empty the base station tank about twice a week, and ive only felt that I needed to clean the roller once, as some rather long strands of my wives hair. This thing has been exactly what I was looking for. The scheduling is easy and the app is function and straight forward. I have yet to be able to see the map that its supposed to be building, but the vacuum gets all the places. I will say though that like any robot vacuum you will still need to clean the corners of the rooms.

The pros: it does do a decent job of cleaning and works well on my carpet and much better on my tile. It has only gotten stuck once and sadly was under my desk. The unit has gone throughout my home (areas i want vacuumed). The unit is small enough to get under my couches, bed, and will make its way around my chairs and tables. Overall, there is value in the unit and what it can do. Wearable/Replacement parts seem to be readily available and priced reasonably. The cons: the AI/mapping is rudimentary at best. We have cars that can successfully self-drive but we cant seem to get a vacuum to map a home correctly. Ive now reset my unit 3x and tried to get a good map of my home... and to date without a strong degree of success. I get a map. The map has some areas that look like my home, but.. and esp as you get outside my open floor plan area, it seems to struggle understanding where my bedrooms, baths, office, laundry, etc are in relation to the open area. it seems to use the first 2 runs to do the initial map of your home and doesnt seem to up date the initial map much after that... if at all. After that, it just seems to clean what it mapped on those first 2 runs and doesnt really update the map after that (or so it hasnt seemed to in this case). Help resources stink. Theres not much in the literature and even less online. So, do i wait for some sort of notice that the map is complete or do i accept the initial one and it will update it as it learns more?? The unit runs for 60 minutes then docks. It doesnt matter if the battery is 15% at the end or 80%. it docks after 60 min and there doesnt seem to be any way to change this (ive been completely throughout the settings.. and again.. documentation is terrible esp within the app).Evac and resume will pause for 3 hours regardless if the battery charge is 15% (which it needs some charge) or 80% (it should just resume at this point.. but no, its going to sit for 3 hours). it does this regardless if its cleaning or if its mapping out your house. Firmware updates are pushed and cannot be requested. So, lets assume my firmware is out of date by a release or 2. I cannot download and apply it to my unit. it has to be pushed from some central server somewhere to my unit. Im not sure if my release is current or not (2020 is the date of the last update... which may be WHY the AI/mapping seems quite dated in capability). And, if this is the latest version... that would have me question the commitment by the manufacturer for this product. Overall, the unit is good. It does a fair job at cleaning and does offload the stuff it picks up into the bin which does last a while (have the 45 day bin). The unit does a really good job of avoiding getting stuck and if it vacs up something (like a toddlers sock) it will alert you to the issue. There is so much more potential with this device and it seems much of this is software/firmware related (hardware is pretty solid). Im hoping the company makes some changes to allow some more self-service, improves the mapping and AI capabilities, and releases regular updates. If not, then open this thing up to third party tools which will do this for us.

I think I’m being generous by giving it 3 stars. First, we have a large single story floor plan to deal with of about 2800 sqft, so I recognize this could be a challenge, but we’ve had a Neato Botvac Connected that handled it efficiently for years, though the robot itself wasn’t that reliable and I got tired of repairing it, otherwise, I’d definitely just buy another. Enter the 2nd generation Shark IQ AV1110ARUS we bought due to the good reviews and self emptying feature. The good: it cleans well and I like the fact that the self emptying bin is bagless, unlike the Roomba i7+ (I tried this as a replacement too). Also, the Shark wanders a bit less and bumps into things WAY less and much more gently than the Roomba. Lastly, it’s much quieter in all phases of operation than the Roomba. The bad: There are many things that disappoint me. First, the very short time between recharge even running at “normal” mode, forget about “max”, of about 45 minutes or so. Then, the unit will return to base and recharge before resuming, which takes nearly 3 hours!! In 8 hours of running, the unit only covered about half of the house at which point I had to send it back to its base for the evening, cancelling the rest of the house. Then there is the mapping feature of the app, which supposedly is much improved on the newer 2nd generation, but you wouldn’t know it from my experience. Yesterday, it generated a map for half of the house, which was pretty rough and not very accurate, but it was a map. So I labeled all of the rooms it found, set up no go boundaries, etc and assumed it would continue to evolve the map as it cleaned more. Nope. Ran it more, even let it discover new places which it went into where the previous map ran out, but it wouldn’t update further. I checked with support and once “accepted”, that map is final, it won’t continue to expand on it so I was told to delete it and start over. Basically, the unit needs to run for an indefinite period and happen to wander into every space on its own before you accept the map or else you start all over. For the record, the Roomba i7+ sucks too at this, Neato Botvac Connected so far puts them both to shame, except for mechanical reliability. I’ll be returning this unit and waiting until the software improves to the point of being more helpful than frustrating. There are plenty of superior robot vacs out there for much cheaper, just really wanted the self emptying capability.

I’m on I’ve owned another Robo vacuum before and it was not a smart mapping one,. The bumping into everything randomly was not a very good message, so I ended up returning it. Furthermore, it required me to empty it each time it runs. In the end, it really wasn’t all that convenient. I ended up looking for something that not only didn’t have Mark nothing but that it could empty itself after shopping around for a good value. My research told me to buy this one. This shark does everything, and it requires almost no attention from the user I could almost say that it’s actually a deep cleaning , I cannot believe how much dust catchers each time it does a cleaning. I have mostly carpet and when I walk barefoot on my carpet, I can feel the supple cleanliness of the clean carpet. It’s a luxurious ceilings. I am extremely extremely happy with this purchase excellent excellent value I highly recommend this product.
