In the FAQ for this advertisement it says that it has mapping. IT DOES NOT. After 2 months of letting my Shark run every day, giving it access to all of the same areas, reinstalling the app etc. I finally called Shark support and they said that any model that start with A9... does NOT have mapping abilities. In the app cleaning history you can see a map of what was cleaned but you will NOT get an interactive map to assign rooms or areas. Amazon should monitor the FAQ for accuracy and misleading information as this is why I paid a hundred dollars more for this robot over ones with similar reviews. The 3 stars is for its effectiveness otherwise. I have 5 cats and 4 small long and short hair dogs. On hard surfaces it does an amazing deep sweep job. On area rugs (low and high ply) it is like a light vacuum, not like a powerful upright but that is all I expected. I do have to clean the brushes and filters once a week but it easily accessible, not screw driver or tools needed, the cover to the brushes just pops open and push tabs. For The dust screen and air filter, I use a soft bottle brush over the sink to keep clean and when it accidentally picks up a wet hairball a wipe it with a disinfecting wipe and wash the removable parts in the sink. I dump the canister container 1x a week but have many pets, kids and a Christmas tree skirt and gifts with tons of glitter (which my cats scatter everywhere) and this little guy keeps it all cleaned up. I still run an upright vacuum a couple of times a month in the rugs for a deep clean and sweep behind and under furniture where my shark cant go but I noticed that bc I run my shark everyday those area have a huge reduction in hair and debris bc with the daily run that hair doesnt have time to blow into those areas. I used to have to sweep daily and vacuum 1-2 times a week to maintain clean floors with my pets and kids but those days are over. Now I can clean the floors as often as a normal household lol I do not think this is loud on hard or soft surfaces at all, even on maximum suction mode. I have vinyl plank floors and area rugs. My hair dryer on its lowest setting is louder than this Shark on its highest setting. Its slightly louder than someone sweeping with a broom on normal suction. That being said, you have to go into the app and manually switch it to maximum suction every time youd Shark is on a scheduled cleaning, I havent found a way to permanently set it to maximum. Pet owner advise: I scheduled my Shark to clean daily while everyone is at work and school but sometimes at night one of the cats will step on the clean button and it will start running. With my 2 story it doesnt wake anyone and thank my cats for pitching in but in a 1 story, where it may come into a room where someone is sleeping it may be a problem so you may want to turn off its power switch at night. Also, light weight food and water bowls will be relocated around the house. I have a heavier porcelain water bowl and it does not move that. A forest of dining room chair legs may cause it to temporarily get confused but as long as it has the space to get under the table and chairs it will eventually find its way out and the more often you allow it to go under your table and chairs the smarter it gets to getting out when its done. Try not to feel sorry for the little guy and help it out, it has to learn on its own. Brain development comes with time, repetitive actions, and experience. Alexa users: say tell Shark to clean or go dock and you have to have a whole conversation to do that: (my sharks name is Jonny 5) Alexa, tell Shark to go dock Your Robot name please? Jonny 5 Alright, your robot is on its way to dock lol but it works

I previously had less expensive robot vacuum of another brand and it worked well for about a year until the pets killed it out of curiosity. I went about 6 months without it but definitely missed it with 2 dogs and 2 cats inside. I had major rotator cuff surgery some months back and vacuuming still irritates my shoulder so I went to looking for another robot vacuum to help. I settled on this one and love it! I run it at least once a day throughout the house common areas about half standard carpet and half LVP flooring. My house is large so it runs quite a bit. The battery charge can all the areas in one charge and I have it set to automatically return to station to empty when it gets full then it return vacuuming. It picks up pretty well and makes it much easier to keep carpets clean. I still vacuum weekly with my corded shark upright because cordless vacuums don’t have the power corded do but sure make life easier. This little guy picks up everything from flour to cat food, it’s low profile enables it to reach under cabinets and into corners and it’s pretty good at emptying its canister but sometimes will let you know it needs help and you have to manually emptying out the canister but overall it works great !

This is a game changer for dog hair. I’m surprised how much it can hold before it has to dock itself to twice the trash.

It does a excellent job. It learned map of house and I can easily use app to clean specific rooms. Easily climbs over high pile carpet and cleans. Transitions easily between hard surfaces onto carpet. Worth the money.

UPDATE 2 6 Sept 2022: you can set a time to have the robot go to station every 30 mins to charge or/and empty itself. So increasing to 5 stars from 3. Love this thing. By the way if it stops charging make sure the on/off button on robot itself is indeed on. I had picked it up and didnt realize i turned it off and for 2 days I couldnt figure out why it wasnt charging hahaha UPDATE: the robot does an amazing job cleaning the whole house. The map shows that it didnt miss a thing. My only problem this far is it does not empty when it was full. The suction was not strong enough to empty it automatically because the robot was packed full, hubby had to manually do this. What is the point of having a system that is supposed to empty when its full but doesnt do so. I have several furr babies that sheds. The robot should empty when full the head out again. We had to go around and pick up clumps of hair. So Im knocking two stars off because we bought this for self emptying opinion. I just received this item. The set-up is extremely easy as the app you download too. I tested it out and so far I am pleased. I had an Roomba for years and was very expensive and very loud. Sounded like a jet was in my house. After it stopped cleaning the carpet I decided to try something different and I am happy I did. The vacuum itself is much quiter than the Roomba. It is a vacuum so it does make noise, but not so annoying where i have to turn the tv up max volume. The emtying bin is also quite while doing its job. I am happily surprised. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Though the Shark is not cheap it is much cheaper than a similar system from Roomba. The bonus feature is the double spinning brushes in the front that captures all the corners and walls no matter what side it is vacuuming from. My Roomba only had one so if it was vacuuming on the opposite side the dirt was missed. I still get my regular vacuum out for deep cleaning, but as someone with 3 dogs/3 cats I anticipate this vacuum will make my life so much easier.

First experience with a robot vacuum and not overly impressed. First unit lasted around 6 months before a component failed. Shark did replace it under warranty after I paid a nice shipping and handling cost of the replacement. Cleaning: It does well maintaining but does not deep clean. I purchased this unit due to the multi-floor and because we have a semi-indoor blue healer. The unit definitely keeps the hair from building up but we still need to do an actual deep clean from time to time to get everything. Mapping: I had to delete the first few maps on both the original and the replacement until they looked correct. I was hoping to be able to schedule the kitchen and living room nightly with the bedrooms weekly (dog doesnt get to come into the bedrooms). But when I would use the app to just clean one room_ it would go through the entire house anyway. I gave up on the map/room aspect and just hit the clean button on the unit when I wanted it to run. The barrier function is useless. Unless it already maps the space, you cant set it up. It it also very course in its mapping, there is no fine tuning. I wanted to set up a barrier on out laundry room so that it never attempted to go in that space but would have to let it map the area a few times before I could block it - I ended up just shutting the door. I tried to block the area of the Christmas tree the first year but it ignored it and plowed through the presents and the tree skirt anyway. AI: The programming lacks finesse and the ability to learn. Both units likes to bump into things and turn to discover its boundaries (and never stops). I put weights in front of the doors so that it doesnt shut the door on itself, pick up chairs so that it doesnt wedge between the legs, put a trashcan next to the toilet so that it doesnt hop up on the bottom of the toilet and get stuck, and move the entrance mat so that it doesnt get stuck between it and the wall. It doesnt learn where obstructions are to avoid them. I made tubes to act as barriers around the Christmas tree this year, Ill need to add some weights on them as it keeps trying to push through them. It works ok as long as you are there to fix it when it gets stuck. I do not schedule as I dont let the unit run when Im not home to monitor. Once the warranty is out and this one dies, I will most likely try a different manufacturer.

Product is a cheaper iRobot, period. For half the price of the leading brand, I get half the cleaning ability. We have an iRobot and this Shark. Both clean the bottom floor and the iRobot cleans afterward. Always has more debris in its container.

Our Shark robot arrived and it was well packaged but the boundary strips were missing. A call to Shark for the strips was frustrating to say the least. I had to jump through hoops to prove my purchase, including making a video of all the parts and the box that it came in and the Amazon box as well. Seriously? They failed to include everything and then I have to go through this to get the strips? I suppose I should be grateful because initially they said they couldn’t send them to me at all, but when I made my dissatisfaction very clear, they had a change of heart. Also, the representative had very broken English, and was hard to understand. Shark, you can do better for your customers. As for the robot itself, it’s just OK. I purchased it because it doesn’t need dust bags. That was a big plus for me. It’s a bit of a problem that there has to be enough light in the rooms. Otherwise the vacuum can’t see. I have a laundry room with an automatic shut off for the light so it won’t go in there unless I put a lamp in there. It also skipped one other room and I don’t know why because it’s well lit. It does all the other rooms but in a crazy scattered way. It will do one room a third of the way, leave to work on something else and then go back and charge for 2 1/2 hours. Then it comes out, rides around over areas it’s already done, finishes the room it didn’t finish before and then goes over other areas that it already did. It gets totally confused and finally I have to manually dock it. It just doesn’t know when to quit. In the end, it does get most of what I need so I’m keeping it but I prefer my iHome Nova robot that I have on the second floor.

As a household with 4 kids at home and a bunch of pets.....this does the trick for in between deep clean vacuuming. I run this little guy Monday - Friday and then use our standard vacuum on the weekends. This definitely sucks up more than I expected it to, especially since its incredibly quiet. I was expecting this be loud like the Roomba a few years back, but we can hardly tell its running so I was skeptical when it went back to the base to empty. We do have thicker carpet in our living room, but ti still managed to do a great job cleaning. We make sure that we pick up anything that may get in its way to get a full cleaning each cycle. Overall.....I am loving it so far for day to day cleaning

My review is not so much about product as it is about whatever distribution centers provide the product to Amazon. We have purchased 4 of these but it was only because we had to return 2 of them. The first return was because the item shipped was not what was ordered. The correct model number was written in pen on the outside of the box but that was not what was on the inside #2 return was for defective product. Kept getting an error about object was detecting robot was about to go off a cliff and to clean sensors - which I did multiple times before calling manufacturer support line who, while very accommodating were unable to help me resolve the problem. I should have suspected this was a previously returned product for a number of reasons 1. There were no manuals or setup guides as part of the package 2. Side brushes were already installed 3. Roller had dust and dirt 4. Dust container also showed signs of previous use as there was visible dust and dirt inside container 5. Film that covers sensitive areas was absent I want to make it clear, I do not believe this is an Amazon problem but rather one of the manufacturers distribution center. If they are sending returned packages without some type of quality control.....
