> 3 dayA solo purpose of this purchase was because it is a bagless vacuum. After using the bagless upright vacuum a decade or two, I had no intention to keep buying and wasting those bags. So for that matter, this is the perfect auto vacuum. The downside of this is that - which I was aware of prior to the purchase - this model does not equip a sensor to detect objects. In order words, it would push a shoe around, try very hard (perhaps wasting battery power) to go over anything on its way. I forgot to turn off the scheduled cleaning while I was out of town, it ran and the cats apparently pushed a small glass bowl off the kitchen counter and spread small broken glasses, some large pieces got stuck when it did self emptying so most certainly Id certainly schedule to run while I am at home, clear the floor before the scheduled time. So if you prefer to run an auto vacuum of any kind, Id suggest that you choose the sensor to avoid the objects.

> 3 dayI boxed this to return then did more searching for information on how best to use it. Im going to keep it for now and just know Ill need to clean the filters more often than I thought. The self emptying feature is really a game changer for me. After using this daily for 2 weeks Im going to stay with my original 4 stars. Our downstairs is basically an open room, 1200 with living areas designated by furniture and area rugs. Mapping isnt a big concern for me as long as it gets it all done. I continue to be unimpressed with the suction, I always have to have it on max, which even then doesnt seem to be as good as the commercials claim. I do empty the dust cup of pet hair every few days, and so far I havent had anything in the dust cup on the vac itself which concerned me. Today I opened the Pre-Motor Filter - which says to clean once a month - and found thats where ALL the dust was. I was very surprised and dont know if thats good or bad. Im used to hair, dust and anything else on the floor all going into one container. I cleaned and washed the filters and will see if that makes a difference. This is more complicated than my other robots as there are several filters to maintain. My feelings after a couple of weeks - Im not as happy as I thought Id be - but the self-emptying feature is so great I can overlook some disappointments. No way could I go 30 days but a good cleaning once a week or so is so much better than daily I wont complain. ********** I was very excited when my new robot arrived this morning. Ive had iroomba which I loved, Neato which is a love/hate affair because I so dislike having to empty and clean the bin and roller at least once during a cycle. I thought this Self Cleaning Shark was my answer. Ive only used it one day so will change my rating if I change my mind. The plus: Even though it has bristles, pet hair did not tangle. It did a great job of picking up pet hair, that others have problems with. LOVE that self-cleaning feature! It had no trouble getting into and out of tight spaces Price was reasonable The Cons: Had trouble connecting to app; robot said connected, iPhone said connected, app said not. Finally just let it run and it figured out the connection on its own. Emptied the dust bin on the dock and there was hair, but no dust, no dirt - just pet hair. Medium suction. Emptied the dust bin on the vac itself and it held some but no where near the amount of dirt and dust the Neato picks up. In fact am running the Neato now and it is picking up the dust the Shark didnt. This Shark answered the problems I had with the Neato but the suction wasnt near as good. Ill try it on max tomorrow and see how it does. Guess it depends on whats most important to you in a robot vac.

> 3 dayGood worker …we named our little helper, Vern, he has been a nice addition to the family and certainly listen fairly well. Our largest concern has been the mapping of the house, Vern gets confused too often based on what he is capable of. I clean out the filters at least weekly if not more often, we don’t have pets so must of the debris is general dust. The problem with the mapping seems that once I approve the map that does look correct and then I create and label rooms is when Vern looses his mind. Apparently he doesn’t like specific orders, just general orders:). I send Vern to clean the kitchen and he’s doing a completely different room. I send him to clean the entryway and he’s right on it. It’s very confusing how some rooms he understands and most he doesn’t. We did a factory reset on Vern which was concerning as the family had grown to appreciate his efforts and we were afraid maybe an alter ego would come out… safe to say, the new Vern seems to be on top of the mapping this time. We are hoping this will continue and we regret not purchasing and adopting Vern sooner in our lives. Well worth the purchase and I think with a few tweaks or firmware updates from Shark that Vern will move right up into a 5 star category.

> 3 dayIve had mine for a couple months now and overall its doing an absolutely fantastic job. PROS: I only have to empty this sucker out maybe once a month, which already makes it better than a lot of vacuums for me. Instead of wandering all over the place, it maps out your floor over a couple iterations and then methodically goes back and forth over every inch it can reach (which, lets face it, Im not squeezing a vacuum under some of the furniture it can glide right under). You also dont have to babysit it, as it periodically returns to its dock to empty out what it has collected up to that point before picking back up where it left off. The associated Shark app lets me program it to go through my house at specific times or days of the week, or pause it remotely if I feel like it. I never see it get stuck on anything. Its decently quiet for a vacuum, too, except when... CONS: ...it empties its contents into the main dock, which is pretty loud for about 2 or 3 seconds. This is technically a con, since it *will* grab your and everyone elses attention immediately, but its so quiet the rest of the time that I honestly dont care. (Frankly it also makes me laugh because I swear it sounds like the worlds tiniest jet engine for those couple seconds of emptying.) I guess my only real gripe is that Shark (and the million 3rd party retailers) make it bizarrely difficult to buy the correct version of the tiny forward brushes if you want to grab some extra replacement ones just in case. Mine have held up well, but if you do need some, for the love of God make sure you visually match them up first before buying.

> 3 dayWorth every penny. I have a parrot, and I bought this so I didn’t have to sweep under her cage daily. This little robot thoroughly cleans the hard floors as well as the carpets and rugs in my entire 2b/2ba apartment. The only places it didn’t get really well are odd corners and in front of the stove (which sticks out a little). I watched it clean the entire apartment for almost an hour in amazed wonder, occasionally moving things out of its way. I would recommend to pick any items up off of the floor, push in dining table chairs, and pick up small rugs (I shook mine out directly onto the kitchen and bathroom floors). I am incredibly impressed with this unit, and would recommend this purchase for anyone who does not have fur pets. It might be able to handle a fur home, but since I have a feather home I couldn’t say if it would work well for that.

Greater than one weekOur home has no carpet, only tile and wood flooring. Weve had the Shark for over two months now. I have to say I am impressed with it so far. I have it set to run 3 times a week and each time it picks up stuff. The first couple times it had a lot of material, but even now it doesnt fail to pick up a substantial amount, in other words that is material that would just accumulate until we manually vacuumed. It has gotten caught up on our light rugs, but vacs right over the heavier and rubber bottomed ones. It recommends you have 3ft of clearance on the side, but the best places for us to put it did not have that, only a foot on each side, but so far weve had no problem. It has always found its way back to the base. My wife was skeptical at first, but after seeing how much it picks up is now happy we have it. We do pick up the light rugs before its scheduled run, but other than that we just let it run. In the future we will replace the light rugs with heavier ones and we wont even have to do that. It does require some maintenance, especially the first few times. The first time it ran, in which it went under couches and beds where we normally dont get, the eject opening got plugged. It warns you that something is off and the app lets you know it is plugged. Easy to clean out. It has also gotten hair twisted around the roller brush, but the plate comes off and the rollers come out. Cutting the hair with scissors and pulling it off worked. Then easy enough to snap back in place.

> 3 dayOne of the main reasons we chose this product was because desciption indicated that hair would not wrap around beater bar. The pic definitely shows a great deal of hair. Product was received 3 days ago and used twice. Disappointed this feature does not work as described. With that being said, product must be deep cleaning to accumulate that much hair.

Greater than one weekI was skeptical about this vacuum. How could a product that is 1/3 the cost of a Roomba be as good? I have a 2,700 sq ft hours but only use the robot for the main areas. I keep the bedrooms closed as a housekeeper takes care of vacuuming those every two weeks. Most of my house is tile floors and I have three small dogs that shed very little. Ive owned a Roomba 960 for about 5 years and was constantly frustrated with it. It got stuck regularly and almost never completed a full cycle. Additionally, we would often turn it off because the noise was so obnoxious. We couldnt run it at night because of the noise and I work from home on regular Zoom calls so I couldnt run it during the day either so the only time available was to run it in the evenings and the noise was too much to deal with while trying to watch TV or even have a conversation. Finally, I had to replace the battery about 4 times and the aftermarket batteries dont work well and the Roomba batteries are seriously expensive. So....when I saw this Shark, I was skeptical of the price and quality. BUT I WAS WRONG!! THIS IS AN AMAZING PRODUCT!. It is very quiet so I can run it during the day, evening or night with no problems. It rarely gets stuck and only stops when it gets a stick my dogs bring in from the back yard stuck in the roller. Im OK with that! I now run it every day. The brushes run slower than a Roomba but there is logic to that as they do a great job of moving the debris into the path of the roller. The roller-brush (only one) is much narrower than a Roomba but because the brushes do such a good job of guiding the debris, that doesnt seem to matter. The docking station with the automatic emptying processes works incredibly well. Once the Sharks bin is full, it returns to the docking station and the vacuum (very strong) in the docking station sucks out the debris into a large cup that I only have to empty about once a week. It then goes right back to where it left off and continues its cycle. When the battery runs low, it returns to the docking station, empties the bin and charges. Once the Shark is recharged, it goes right back to where it left off again and continues the cycle. The mapping program seems to work very well and I love that the Shark uses a more logical vacuuming pattern compared to the Roomba. I honestly cant think of any negatives. I would like to be able to just pause the Shark while Im on a call instead of returning it to the station but that isnt a big deal since its so quiet. If you are looking for a good robot vacuum and dont want to shell out close to $1,000 for a similar Roomba, this is your product!

Greater than one weekUPDATE 2 6 Sept 2022: you can set a time to have the robot go to station every 30 mins to charge or/and empty itself. So increasing to 5 stars from 3. Love this thing. By the way if it stops charging make sure the on/off button on robot itself is indeed on. I had picked it up and didnt realize i turned it off and for 2 days I couldnt figure out why it wasnt charging hahaha UPDATE: the robot does an amazing job cleaning the whole house. The map shows that it didnt miss a thing. My only problem this far is it does not empty when it was full. The suction was not strong enough to empty it automatically because the robot was packed full, hubby had to manually do this. What is the point of having a system that is supposed to empty when its full but doesnt do so. I have several furr babies that sheds. The robot should empty when full the head out again. We had to go around and pick up clumps of hair. So Im knocking two stars off because we bought this for self emptying opinion. I just received this item. The set-up is extremely easy as the app you download too. I tested it out and so far I am pleased. I had an Roomba for years and was very expensive and very loud. Sounded like a jet was in my house. After it stopped cleaning the carpet I decided to try something different and I am happy I did. The vacuum itself is much quiter than the Roomba. It is a vacuum so it does make noise, but not so annoying where i have to turn the tv up max volume. The emtying bin is also quite while doing its job. I am happily surprised. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Though the Shark is not cheap it is much cheaper than a similar system from Roomba. The bonus feature is the double spinning brushes in the front that captures all the corners and walls no matter what side it is vacuuming from. My Roomba only had one so if it was vacuuming on the opposite side the dirt was missed. I still get my regular vacuum out for deep cleaning, but as someone with 3 dogs/3 cats I anticipate this vacuum will make my life so much easier.
