Some of these reviews are really bad. I guess its the same with most everything - people throw away instructions then cant figure out how to reconfigure. Dudes have all the time in the world to get on here and leave a bad review but not enough time to google how to fix their issue or search for instructions. Well Im here to buy a third one! These work great. I use the ECO Plugs smartphone app and Alexa. -BroSun

Fantastic device, quite easy to set up and it seems to be working reliably after 4 days in use. I am using it to remotely control a pond aerator that requires a very specific on/off schedule. An added benefit of using a WIFI-enabled device in the cloud is that I know the house power and my home wifi network are functioning generally, and also that the aerators circuit has not tripped the GFI. This unit can handle 15 amps and 1000 watts, well above the 1/3 hp 5-amp draw (650 watts) of my pond aerator motor. The WiOn app on my iPhone is easy to use and offers great programming flexibility as well as manual on/off override independent of the time settings.

Great product to control landscaping lights remotely and programming them to automatically turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. Once programmed, you can forget about it. I like products that you forgot about because they don’t give you any problems. 5 month update: Both units continue to perform flawlessly. They have weathered through many AZ monsoon storms and driving rain with no problems. Thinking of buying a third unit to control a UV bug catcher. In Arizona my power utility charges double rates from 3-6pm, so I’m thinking of setting up the bug catcher to turn off from 3-6pm. Highly recommend.

I followed the instructions to the letter. My internet router is the model WiOn suggested works the best. My switch could never find my internet router. Important note: to reset the switch, you have to also TURN OFF THE WION APP to start completely over fresh. Now the switch works great.

This 15A outlet is Wi-Fi controlled so I can turn it on an off using an app on my phone. I can also control it using my voice with Amazon Alexa and if my network goes down for some reason I can control it with an onboard switch. A great and versatile addition to my life.

At its core it works, but there are a lot of hang ups with this unit which is why I am searching for a replacement. Getting the wi-fi connected is a bit of a process. You will need a little technical ability to get it set up. Once it is set up control from the app is pretty simple. The wi-fi on this unit is very flaky. We have a number of power outages in my neighborhood and its a crap shoot if this will connect once power is back up. Sometimes it connects with no problem on its own, sometimes I have to pair it with the wi-fi again while its still in its normal location, sometimes I have to unplug it and take it upstairs near my router for it to pick up the wi-fi again. Have been dealing with this for a while with this unit but now I am over it and looking for a replacement.

I tried four of these things (one from Amazon, three from my local Menards). They need to be within about 10 feet of an access point to be even semi-functional. This appears to be an internal antenna issue with these devices specifically rather as other smart plugs I own do not have these issues. If you happen to be close enough to a wireless access point for a Wion Plug to connect and operate in a Smart fashion, youll find out that the Wion App and Alexa Smart Devices will both report that these devices are irregularly rather than constantly available, even under an ideal condition. Of the four devices I tried, one was completely nonfunctional. It never powered on or powered any attached devices. A second one refused to enter pairing mode and could not be configured. Two more would only connect irregularly and of those two, one would shut down after operating for about three minutes. It felt like it might have been overheating. All four were tried both indoors, within about 1 meter of open air from a commercial-grade access point; and outdoors, where they were 2.5 and one standard wood-and-drywall home construction wall from the same commercial access point. For a device that is purportedly design for outdoor use, I found these to be objectively bad. Half of the devices I tried wouldnt even consistently operate as simple power outlets! Dont buy these.

I got this item to control the outdoor ground/pathway lights in my backyard. I have and old power supply for the lights but all it can do is turn the lights on or off. I need adjustment for daylight savings time. So instead of buying a new power supply. I got one of these. It works great! I now plug the power supply into this and then into the outlet. The app is good and easy to set up. With the app there are many different options for turning lights on and off. I cant try the Alexa part of things because I dont have one. Sorry. Great product would buy again if need to.

Bought two of these in Nov 2016 for outdoor lighting and fountain control (one for each). Getting ready to order another to control additional lighting were adding. As I recall, the setup was a little tricky. Had to read the instructions carefully to connect it with wifi, then with Alexa. But its pretty amazing to just tell Alexa to turn on the patio lights, or turn on the fountain and voila! Its on. Guests love it. Smartphone app works perfectly too. Highly recommend

Bought my outdoor connector 2 years ago. It controls my 100+ feet of outdoor Christmas lightening and decorations for almost 2 month of the year (late November to early January). It Works flawlessly. This year I was surprised that after being disconnected and stored away with the decoration; the unit was able to reconnect to the home wireless network without me reconfiguring it. I plugged in the outlet, it blink rapidly like searching for the wireless SSID and connected without a problem. I like the application too. I have it installed on my IPhone and IPad devices. I find it to be user friendly and very flexible with the editing and scheduling of events. I also own one of their light switches which I used to control my front porch lighting. I have been using the switch every day for almost 3 years. It has lost connection to the home wireless 2 times, due to prolonged power outage in my nations capital city. To reconnect it to the home wireless, I just pressed the reset button in the unit with a toothpick, the unit blinks blue for a few it then stops blinking and the light becomes a solid blue indicating that the unit is connected to the home Wi-Fi. It is a well made product. I will buy it again and recommen it. NOone has payed/given me anything for my comment.
