06-04-2025Some of these reviews are really bad. I guess its the same with most everything - people throw away instructions then cant figure out how to reconfigure. Dudes have all the time in the world to get on here and leave a bad review but not enough time to google how to fix their issue or search for instructions. Well Im here to buy a third one! These work great. I use the ECO Plugs smartphone app and Alexa. -BroSun

Greater than one weekThe product works great. It connects every time. I set it up for my outdoor lights, and I can now set them on a schedule and turn them on and off via my smartphone or Amazon Alexa. As of 06/09/2017, they finally added Amazon Alexa compatibility. If the company makes a new version, I wish that they could control the input plugs separately from your smart phone or with Alexa. The way the product works now is, if you plug in different items in the two in-going plugs, they work in sync with each other and cannot be controlled separately.

> 3 dayI haven’t written to many reviews on Amazon but felt I needed to for this item. People have knocked it because they cannot get it setup within Alexa. It took me a bit to get it setup as well but after reading several reviews once, I did get it to work with Alexa. You NEED to use a one word name within the Wion app. Don’t worry, you can rename it once it’s setup in Alexa/Echo. When setting it up at first winthin the Wion app, just name it “wion” that’s it. Check to make sure it works in the Wion app first, then set it up within Alexa/Echo. Once it’s setup, change the name to whatever you want within the smart home option like any other device you’ve setup. You shouldn’t have any issues and it should work if you do this. It would give it 5 stars if each connection worked independently and not together as one. Hopefully at some point that will happen.

> 3 dayOverall it works well. The physical form factor is a bit bulky and the short cable length works better in some locations but not in others as it just dangles from the outlet. The phone app (Android) could be simpler and could certainly make better use of smart phone screen space. The UI designers try to hard to make their own interface rather than stick to typical Android UI/menu features. I have three of the plug-ins and I can only see two at a time on the screen. They use an icon to represent each plug in and the icon is about the same size as an Android app icon so in theory I should be able to see up to 20 of them on one screen. As more companies make smart plugs, light bulbs etc I expect there will be a lot of innovation in this space both in the industrial design of the physical plugs and in the UIs to manage them. One can only hope that in the long run there will be standardization so that you can control and manage all of these devices with a common interface. I will hate to have to maintain numerous apps to control all my smart devices but suspect we are a long way from such commonality.

> 3 dayI bought three WiOn products five months ago and extremely happy with all of them. To minimize writing, my reviews for all three are very similar. What a product! What a convenience! I bought this and WiOn 50050 and 50052 and they have made my life Sooooo much easier. Im using 50050 for the lights on the front porch which is controlled from a switch inside the front door, use 50052 for the living room and this one for outside lights which light up outside landscape. All controlled from one app on my iPhone. Although they are all scheduled and dont need me to mess with them every day, but I, often, override the schedule and change them as needed; from home or if Im miles away. As long as I have internet connection, which is almost anywhere, Im connected. Writing this review five months after purchase and very very happy with them. Highly recommended.

> 3 dayI had a similar unit for Xmas lights control and couldnt find it. I went to order another since I didnt have the time look through all the stuff in our garage (its there somewhere). I found these units on AMZ and they were the half the price of my other unit, so I said what the heck order two of them. I figured if they didnt work, I would return them to AMZ with their ironclad guarantee. Didnt have to, worked as described and quite happy with them. These units do not require a hub and you install them with your router. Havent quite figured out they do other then the units first power up as a router and then you connect and they become a pass through to your regular router. I have other devices that use this method and it seems a bit odd but it works. Either way, no hub or setting up a network account with someone. They have been in for several days not and work great. I now have a very interesting Networks, my hub system, Wifi bulbs using a network account to store schedule and settings and now these devices. As long as I can keep it straight as to what device belongs to which network, should be good.

> 3 dayWorking well. I’m getting ready to order my third. WiFi range is good. One is in a crawlspace under the house. Even next to a steel beam, it’s connecting to WiFi well. Instructions on setting up and controlling second unit could be better. I found help on an online video. To adjust second or additional units, you have to shift the devices icon to the leftmost position on your display. Once you know to do that, it’s simple to set up. I have it set up on a non-broadcast WiFi network. That can be tricky with some devices, but not this one.

> 3 dayI have a lot of these so they make sense to keep purchasing. They work well with Alexa and seem to last (do not confuse these with the outdoor stake model with three outlets, those are junk). The WiOn app doesn’t offer a lot of features, but it works well enough.

> 3 dayThis would have been a 5 star review, except for one major issue: software. I have 4 of these outlets and they have worked dependably and consistently for several years. However, the WiOn app hasn’t been updated in quite some time, and it no longer works with my iPhone running iOS16. So… I’m unable to set up and program the outlets anymore, rendering them useless. I’ve contacted customer service three times (both email and voicemail; couldn’t talk with an human) and have received no response. I can’t recommend this item until the software issue is resolved. UPDATE: WiOn has updated their software to work with the new iOS update. All is fine, and I reiterate the complement I made: it works reliably and consistently. Highly recommend WiOn outlets.
