These plugs are super easy to install, and the app makes it simple to set up schedules that can be applied to one or more devices. The main disadvantage (which dropped a star from this rating) is that if Amazon’s AWS servers go down, you can no longer communicate with these plugs, and they will not automatically change state with the schedule. Rather frustrating when you expect all your Christmas lights to turn on automatically and they don’t because the AWS servers have an issue.

Life is so much easier when all you need to do is say Alexa turn on floor lamp or turn off floor lamp, especially when youre disabled... I have more coming to make my home more Alexa friendly & easier for me...

Note: Im writing this review on the same day I installed the plugs so I have not experienced the long term effects of using the plugs. The plugs were easy to install and sync up with my Google Home Hub. You have to install the Wyze app to configure the plug...and by configure, the plug only needs to know how to connect to your local home wifi so that other devices (Google Home) can communicate with it. To install, you run the Wyze app, add device, plug in the plug, and wait a minute for the app to find the device. Note: There are 2 types of plugs on the app: the older version and new (2021) version. At first, I chose the older version, thinking that these were older plugs. Couldnt connect. But when I chose the newer version it connected in a snap. I named the plug Tea Kettle and my Google Home was able to find the device with ease. Plugs like these work fine for devices like my tea kettle and wax aroma device. These are simple devices with merely an on/off switch. Devices like a Mr. Coffee or Keurig may not work since you have to punch more buttons to make them work. I was not bothered by the noise level of the click when it turns on or off. Its audible, but not enough to annoy me. Its also satisfying to hear the click, knowing that the device is working. If the plugs continue to work great after a month, then Ill be buying more.

Easy to setup and use, but God help you if you need customer support. I was double charged (~$100) for annual monitoring, and after numerous exchanges (each time with a different person), the best answer I could get was an offer of a $20 gift card to their online store to buy more of their stuff… I had to dispute the charges with my cc company.

I wouldnt consider myself a luddite, but I am not usually the first to adopt a new technology for the sake of simply having it. These plugs are *way* more convenient than I initially thought. I should specify, I did not utilize any of the Extra connectivity features to Alexa or anything, I just downloaded the app for ios, plugged them in, and was up-and-running very easily. While on vacation, I could set schedules for a bunch of different lights (including the outdoor christmas lights; plugged into one of these in the garage) and it worked great. I now have a couple things in my house that are hard to reach while plugged in, that I can now control from my phone while sitting on the couch... I see endless abuses for my new found power. :) The app does everything through your home wifi system, and is very quick to respond (on/off commands). Its super simple, and thus good for even the lesser technically incline. The only missing half star (if I could do half stars) is for the inexplicable scheduling of the vacation mode, which is like handing over your plug to a black box... it might be an amazing feature, but I couldnt figure out any of the parameters that cause it to engage/disengage. Thusly, I just used a timer schedule. Worked the same, and I could control it from numerous states away.

I have grown a bit disheartened by Wyze Products. It seems that they frequently lose connection or require updates when you simply want them to do their jobs. Still, these do work well, with only minor irritation.

The Amazon Alexa designation of Certified for Humans (CfH) is very important -- but this item does NOT meet the CfH standard and the CfH designation should be removed from the product description! CfH is great for two reasons: -- electric items that truly have this designation are (very) easy to add-on to Alexa via a 3-step process with no requirement to add a new app. But, perhaps more important, the architecture of CfH is simple, making for better performance and easier maintenance. If your intent is to use an item with Alexa, get a smart plug with CfH. With CfH the smart plug talks directly to the Alexa Echo. Without CfH an item must be registered to its own app -- in this case you have to install the Wyse App, create an account, install and test the plug with Wyse, and then bind the Wyse smart plug to your Alexa account. Later, when you use Alexa to Turn on the Plug -- the command must go to Alexa, then to the Wyse Cloud, then back to Alexa, and (finally) the command is sent to your plug. Not only does this add a delay to the execution of the command, but it also creates dependencies, and opportunities for failures. And, in the future, if you move or get a new modem or router, it will be much harder to re-configure a non-CfH smart Plug.

The hardware functions fine. The app is garbage. Even with a good signal the software is unreliable. I have this controlling a light bar. Most of the time it operates correctly, but sometimes I will tap it to turn off in the app and it shows that it did, but the light is still on. The only fix is to unplug everything and force stop the app in app settings and plug it all in again. It does this often enough to be a problem. Their camera is even worse. Dont use wyze, there are better companies out there.

Started out in home automation using WeMo switches. While they work okay their range and setup process are not the greatest. I moved to WYZE for their cameras and have replaced most WeMo switches with WYZE but I needed a few more. These are on sale during Prime Days for such a great price I picked up four to finish my transition.
