> 3 dayShould I tell you this is a five star rod???? Who knows!!! But, it is pretty neat!!! I first bought the four inch rod, and thought it was so cool.. Played with it, but never started a fire with it.... The covid thing screwed up my camping trips!!! And, really, I am not a fire builder anyway, I can, but, I usually dont.. However, I like toys and when I need to spend money, I buy toys, for the outdoors!!! Turns out, it was fun to do sparks with, but, not much else for the time being, but, then I saw the 6 inch rod, and after much agony over wanting another toy, I ordered this big boy!!! Does it work, yes. Can you build fires with it.. Dont know.. I just stand outside in the dark and make pretty sparks with it... I have not built a campfire in about 10 years.. No need, I carry a backpacking stove!!!! Works fast and clean!!!! But, fires use to be fun, and I can image I will try to get out and build some, just to see if I can do it... My only real fire building was when I was camped on gravel bars at night, while doing overnight canoe trips.. Fires and smoke kept the skeeters off of me, after I got real smoky!!!! But, in case you were wondering, I also bought the little key chain fire rods.. They are useless, but super cute.. I have one in my pocket right now... When I need to feel manly, I take out my keychain, dig out my swiss army knife, and make sparks out in the driveway!!! Feels good... So, I suggest you too buy a whole collection of these fire rods, then go out in the yard, in the dark, and make lots of sparks.. As cheap as they are, we should have sparking contests, and see who can make the most sparks, and for the longest time, before the rod is no longer useful... Wear it out.. its a challenge.. I dont think you can do it.. At least I have never heard of anyone wearing one out... But, if, you play with it enough, you just might be able to do it... Fun thing to do on a warm summer night... Try it...

> 3 dayHavent used it yet on wood, but it certainly throws really great sparks. Lots of spacing to use the included striker with it, so you dont have to worry much about short stroking the Ferro rod. Pretty safe to assume itll light stuff on fire. Ill definitely buy more of these (cause I seem to lose them all the time). This is my go-to striker if I want a dedicated fire steel. Will be buying a couple more.

> 3 dayThis product was purchased for my husband, he has a few different Ferro rods from light my fire and UST and even a couple from Schrade. He stated that this is the best by far, it throws a barrage of sparks and because of its massive size it should last many years! He was initially concerned about the striker it came with, but he stated that a person could always use a knife or P-38 or better yet a P-51 to use as a striker also. Overall he was and is very pleased with this purchase, besides backpacking he likes bushcraft and car camping! This product will be great even to scouts and outdoor beginners how to practice fire starting survival techniques using a Ferro rod especially this Ferro rod. Great job from Bayite!

Greater than one weekIf you camp, hunt, fish or prep this is the rod for you. I have many ferocinium rods and this is now my go to. Besides being huge it has a paracord braid with attached striker. I still intend on using my knife spine to strike but its nice to have the striker as a backup. Did I mention this thing is huge?!! I took coarse grit sandpaper and sanded off all of the coating and while I was sanding the dang thing was sparking. If you lose this you are trying to lose it. The paracord braid makes it handy to clip on your pack or belt. The braid is nicely done and neatly finished. So you actually get 2 survival items in one. Fire starter and a good length of paracord. I will not hesitate to buy this again as I will put one in all my kits. Edit; 5/17/17- My 6 year old grand daughter now knows how to start a campfire with this!

BARRY SPADE
> 3 dayPuts out huge shower of hot sparks that has lit damp tinder for me using my knife as striker. A little heavy but then so would be 25,000 matches because thats how many strikes I expect to get on this rod.
