Very easy to use, throws a HUGE shower of long burning sparks. Outstanding for lighting fires. PROTIP- try cotton balls coated with petroleum jelly as tinder, Pull them apart until wispy and hit with sparks. Store in small plastic or metal container.

Worked great right out of the box. Tried it to start a small fire to get some wood piles burned and after a few strikes over a tinder bundle it started smoking and after a few breaths it was fire. Would recommend this to anyone needing a handy travel/emergency fire starter.

This rod can throw sparks for days. I used it one time, and it was easy to hold in the hand with plenty of metal to last a long time. The sparks thrown was big and there was plenty of them. Thank you.

The bayite 1/2 X 6 inch flint is very good. The steel striker works, but I would recommend using something with a longer edge for striking. UPDATE: 5/8/2019 Bayite 1/2 X 6 inch ferrocerium rod kit is one of the best striker fire starters I have used. This item produces good hot sparks and will start a fire with in seconds, providing you prepare your tender as needed. I Have made several fires with ease . I grew up making fires using 2 sticks from a Yucca Plant by hand. Making fires with the Bayite 1/2X6 fire starter rod kit is quicker and easier. This item is durable and will last for a long time.

So far its amazing. Love the feel, and works great. Plan on buying 4 more! Havent messed with the paracord to much yet but cant wait to take it camping and give it try.

Have several basic survival type fire steels. This blows them out of the water. It even works well using the striker provided. Huge shower if sparks and plenty of room to work with.

If you’re a prepper you will love this. I am not one,I’m just an extremely bored old man that has fun lighting my fireplace with this. I have mastered lighting my fireplace every time with the first strike, I use it to ignite a marijuana rope dipped in wax. Yes a hemp rope is made out of marijuana get over it!
