Installed last fall just before winter set in. The detector has worked great since, infact still operating on the same battery through our cold winter season. This detector has not missed a single vehicle including motorcycles. Even had a vehicle stop on top of the detector, unbeknownst to the looky-loos, the alarm kept sounding while they were parked on top of the detector. It was a ways down the driveway but it was nice to know someone was there. Glad I purchased works great.

My old driveway alerter works fine after many years. I wanted another receiver so I could get alerts while I was working in the barn. This thing doesnt, and doesnt even have a switch so you can turn it off.

I have a security camera set up for recording/viewing foxes as they go in and out of a den on my property. I needed something that would detect a fox and record the date/time stamp and give me an audible signal. It looked like the MTPR-4000 would serve the purpose. I emailed Dakota Alert to see if they thought it would work and Jason responded very quickly saying that even though the DCMT-4000 sensor is designed for a much bigger target (fox considered a nuisance alert), with certain sensitivity settings (user settable), it should work. I have had it installed for a week now and have had several fox alerts with no nuisance signals, so I am very happy knowing when my little friends are coming and going and watching them on video.

This is the second Dakota alert alarm we have purchased. The first one lasted approximately 10 years. Love this Brand. We use it as a drive way alarm on our farm. Lets us know when someone is hear before they pull up to the door. The signal has to pass through a couple of buildings, and works perfect. It detects the motion VERY well. You can control the volume to very loud to off. Installation was a breeze. We attached it to a wooden pole and tested it. It worked just as well if not better than our older Dakota. I would strongly suggest this Dakota Alert alarm.

I have purchased about every brand out there on the market. But these units are still the best ones I have found workmanship of the seals and gaskets and threaded inserts into the plastic is 10 times better than anything else. Yes they work and no they dont work it all depends on the application where the sensor is placed you can have a real good sensor not work properly by being placed in the wrong spot. And as far as distance it does work pretty far but that depends on what type of structure and where the unit is mounted. Kind of like a cell phone outside works great but in a steel building cell phone may drop calls. As far as battery life extremely excellent for 19 volt battery some of my units are still over a year and a half old on the same 9 volt battery unbelievable actually. The unit is kind of a pain to set up and the chimes that they have are party disappointed but the external options are excellent for the receiver. Wish you could customize the sounds better with your own recordings but hopefully thats in a future product.
