Pros: Simple to install. Manual water shut off from control unit. Control unit can be placed up to 5’ away from valves. Much less expensive (at $99) than other options. Cons: Very long automatic valve attachments that stick out from the wall. Edit - Two months after I installed these valves they have more than paid for themselves. One of my supply hose washers failed and began to leak. The moisture sensor was positioned just below the hose connections and tiny amount of water dripped on the floor. That was enough to trigger the alarm and shut off the valves. A leak this slow could have easily gone undetected for weeks and only been found after causing significant damage to the ceiling below, but thanks to this system the leak was found and fixed before any damage was caused. The placement of the water valves, low behind my washer makes them impossible to access without moving the washer. When I switched to a stacked washer/dryer moving the nearly 500 pounds of appliances became a truly daunting task that also involves disconnecting the dryer vent. This has only been a problem a few times, once when the washer valve failed and it filled up and overflowed, and then whenever we go on vacation. Since this washer is on the second floor, leaks can and have caused a serious amount of very expensive damage below. Installation: Installing this unit was very simple. The washer supply hoses are removed from the wall valves, the electronic valves are attached to the wall valves and the hoses are attached to the electronic valves. The control unit needs to be mounted to the wall and powered up with the AC adapter, the wires are connected to the valves and the water sensor is placed on the floor under the valves. The valve wires have quick disconnects, but the sensor is permanently attached to the control unit, a minor inconvenience. Installation issues: The valves are quite long, probably around 5” and on my installation stick out nearly 4” from the wall. I had to place a 2x4 on the floor behind the washer to make sure that the washer does not bang against the valves when in use. Function: When water pools under the water sensor a fairly loud alarm sounds and the valves shut off. The valves can also be shut off by holding a button on the control panel. An LED light on the panel indicates whether the valves are open or closed. If the unit is powered off the valves remain in position – if the valves were closed they remain closed, even after the power is restored. (I tested this by disconnecting the power for about 5 minutes.) Conclusion: This product is well thought out, simple to install, easy to use and works well. The only real negative I found is the long length of the valves. I have also found no indication that parts are available for this product on the manufacturers website, and long term reliability is an unknown. I would purchase this product again.

Professional packaging. All parts included..even a three plug adapter. Very easy to install. Five stars - but hoping I never really find out how well it works if a washer hose starts to leak. Although its not cheap, I paid more quite a few years ago at Home Depot for s similar item that started leaking (couldnt fix it) after a couple of years.

The reason for only 4 stars is that I have not had a water leak since installation. I did not see another with this simple functionality. If you even think about buying this you should do it. The alternative of a flood is very painful.

Easu to install, easy to set vacation sensor. Dropped sensor in a glasss of water and it worked like a charm. A few days later when we were doing laundry, the alarm sounded and the water turned off. Moved some things so I could see the sensor and there was no water near it. I thought it had malfunctioned UNTIL I looked at the dryer exhause. It had come loose from the wall and the high humidity was setting off the alarm. We seldome look at the dryer exhaust vent and it could have been off for months before we would have discovered it. Bought one for each of our sons homes and geting one for our water heater. Great product! The three outlet extension is a nice idea, BUT the transformer covers up 2 outlets, so either the outlet or the transformer needs to be modified.

Bought this in January and my plumber installed in March. I bought to prevent water damage to my new hard wood floors. The cold water valve is defective and the slow leak caused water damage to my floors over the course of two months and the alarm did not go off or shut off water. What was purchased to prevent water damage caused it. Very disappointed in this product. Vendor is not answering my question about fixing my damage.

Good quality material, simple design and easy to install. I tested it with a small amount of water on the floor and the valves shut off within a few seconds. It may never be needed but for those of us that have spent months fixing the damage from a water leak this device gives some peace of mind.

The concept is great, but when the water sensor is placed on a concrete floor, it shuts the water off. Repeated test, by removing/reinstalling ac plug, same results. Do I need to seal/paint the concrete floor where the sensor goes?
