I did not expect this 850 EVO to be as fast as it is. Old hard drive took about 3 mins to start now it just a little over 30 sec. I only cloned the old one and I not a do a new install of XP. Its all the same. FAST!

Knowing what I know now any company shipping laptops with the old style hard-drives and not SSDs should be crossed off your shopping list. Yes, this little guy has made me a believer. Easy to install, mirroring software worked like a charm. The single best upgrade you can do to breath life into a 1-2 year old laptop (and perhaps older). Look at all the professional reviews that set this SSD up as the gold standard for good reason. Look up two or three reviews from reputable companies. Then read a few of the reviews on Amazon. Performance is insane. Value to price is exceptional. Ease of installation (at least in my case) was amazing. By the way...let me go back to performance and why you should look at this? In my case I went from 40 seconds to boot to within seconds. Programs which took ten, fifteen or twenty seconds to start up are d*mn near instant. Press the power button and Im taken to my log in. Like right NOW. After I sign in, it takes less than two seconds to launch Microsoft Word. Why did I wait so long to do this??????? Furthermore, Im not someone with significant computer skills who understands everything about BIOS, building computers, etc. Im a normal guy who can operate a screwdriver, plug in a cable, load software, and reboot a PC. If I can do this so can anyone. PS - I waited a year to do this, and although the prices are reasonable (more so than a year ago) I wish I had made the switch back then. If I knew how much better things would have been Id have gladly eaten the extra $125.00 to switch back then. You WILL NOT REGRET IT.

When it was working, my computer was super fast at boot up (15-20 seconds on Windows 7), but after a year of use as my startup drive, it was failing, freezing with a blue screen and losing data. I sent it back to Samsung for warranty repair and all they did was a firmware update to it and sent it back. I am weary of reinstalling it since I lost my internet shortcuts even after I copied them to a backup drive upon reinstall of the OS (and I had 100s of links for my car restoration project that are lost). Frustrating how these solid state drives in a non-shaking environment still dont hold up as expected or as good as a standard rotating disk drive.

Wonderful especially since the price has dropped so much. I have 6 of these. All are less than a year old, but work flawlessly. Software works fine, too.

My apple mac book pro was really sucking before installing this SSD. I almost planned to dump that, I really amazed to see the difference in the speed now. I love it...
