I’ve tried a lot of Smartplugs and VOCOlinc’s Smartplugs are one of the easiest to connect to their app and Google Assistant and to use and control. I like that I can use them to turn off lamps, iron, hair straighteners, and other items around the house that can use a lot of energy when on / plugged in, but not used, and cause a lot of damage if left on. I like that it’s one of only 2 smartplugs brands that are compatible with the platform of an energy company in California called OhmConnect. So when the grid needs me to use less energy, OhmConnect turns my smartplugs and the devices connected to them off for me. I save energy and OhmConnect pays me for it. Now, I connect my boys’ computers to them to help preserve the battery. We always tell them to unplug their computers after school is over, but they usually forget. Therefore, I’ve scheduled the smartplugs to turn off everyday after school is over and back on in the morning when they start school again. So whether they unplug their computers or not, we’re covered.

I bought a couple of these and will probably have to buy more. They were very easy to set up and use. They work flawlessly with HomeKit and that was my main reason for purchasing them!

These are junk. When I can even get them set up they only stay online for a few hours before dropping off. They are plenty close to the router and no other items have issues but these wifi plugs. Most VOCOlinc products seem pretty good but these plugs are a giant waste of money. Avoid at all cost. Revision - after latest firmware update they work. Seem solid now.

These work great with homekit. For the person below who complained about difficulty scanning the QR code once plugged into an outlet, then dont plug before scanning (instructions below). Also, on my 2.4 and 5gz router outlet even worked perfectly in joining the 2.4 network and not the 5.8, i didnt have to turn off the 5.8 at all. Setup Vocolinc Smart Plug with Apple Homekit 1. Open Apple Home app, select + and the select Add Accessory. 2. Scan QR code on side of Vocolinc smart outlet. Home will prompt to setup, DO NOT do this yet. 3. Plug into outlet. Wait 30 seconds for it to power up 4. Go back to the Home app and complete outlet setup 5. Open Vocolinc app and update the smart outlet firmware as Apple Home doesnt do this immediately.

I really like these remote outlets a lot. I got them, mainly to control some lights outside under a patio roof. The setup and install was very simple. Remove the outlet from the box, plug it into a wall socket, install the app on your phone and scan the QR code in the box that comes with each outlet. The outlet will join the WiFi network after the app configures it and you are mostly done. You could control it right from the VOCOlinc app or add it to HomeKit, like I did. Name it in HomeKit and put it in a room, then it is as simple as Hey Siri, turn on the patio lights and you are done! From a security perspective, we should all be concerned about these IoT types of devices and what they might do on our network. I used the MAC address on the box to assign them static IP addresses over DHCP. Then I created a network policy to log all packets outbound from the outlets. To my surprise, the only traffic they generated to the Internet was a network time request to pool.ntp.org. One packet, that was it. So far, after a week, that is still the only traffic that was sent out from the devices. This doesnt mean that it wont cause a problem long-term, but I believe you can safely block all traffic from them to the Internet and they will still function fine. I am very impressed with the outlets so far and hope they continue to function for years to come!

A little clunky to install at first due to the whole factory reset and having to set the wifi to 2.4 thing, but once I troubleshoot it the first time and got the hang of it, it actually worked perfectly, and for 10 bucks each, I cannot complain. Actually, I’m the process of troubleshooting this item I discovered my old iDevices plugs were actually not broken after all, but only malfunctioning, all I needed to do was refresh my router and reset the plugs, same as I did with the vocolinc and it all worked perfectly! The smartbars by vocolinc fit great anywhere and are pretty straightforward, I definitely recommend it.

These smart outlets are amazing and incredible for the price. Great addition to your Homekit accessories. Incredibly impressed with how simple the setup was in the Home app. Incredible packaging presentation and the build quality is solid. I would highly recommend this to anyone since it works on all platforms. - It was ready to use in less than 2 minutes. - Connectivity is solid - It works incredibly fast (clicks on and off) FYI - You will need the Vocolinc app to update to the latest firmware. The only snag I ran into was a message that said my “Router was not compatible” but that was since I was connected to a 5GHz network and it couldn’t find the device. The fix was to switch to the 2.4GHz network and the rest was a breeze. I do enjoy it is smaller form factor and find its compact than most other devices which it competes with, it only takes over one outlet as pictured.

Chiming to say that these work perfectly with HomeKit. I use a HomePod mini as a hub and have Nest WiFi mesh routers. These smart plugs work great. Ive got four so far in my home and theyve yet to disconnect/fail after a full year of constant usage. Id recommend these if youre looking for a reliable/affordable smart plug to use with HomeKit. Note that, while you can use these without installing any third-party app, you *do* need to have the VOCOlinc app to update the firmware. Updates dont come by often, but I noticed that you cannot do so via the Apple Home app itself; youll need VOCOlincs app from the App Store.

Was ridiculously easy to set up with Apple Home. Works flawlessly. Voice commands with Siri work and are fast. Timers and automations set though the Home app work perfect. I started with 4 to use with Christmas decorations and now am ordering more. Exceeded all my expectations so far.

I have several of these in my house, and I love them being HomeKit compatible. These are very easy to setup and connect to HomeKit up using the VOCOlinc iOS app. A note to VOCOLinc: this set did not include any QR codes on the back of the guide like all the others had I’ve purchased in the past. These will have to be connected by the QR code printed on the plug itself, a slight inconvenience if the plug is behind heavy furniture and the QR codes needs to be scanned again.
