Works well and reliably with home kit. 3rd vocolinc purchase and pleased with all their homekit products so far. Only neg is wish it had Thread support but 2.4 ghz wifi works. On my 2.4 and 5ghz router the outlet worked perfectly in joining the 2.4 network and not the 5.8, i didnt have to turn off the 5.8 for initial pairing.. Setup Vocolinc Smart Plug with Apple Homekit 1. Open Apple Home app, select + and the select Add Accessory. 2. Scan QR code on side of Vocolinc smart outlet. Home will prompt to setup, DO NOT do this yet. 3. Plug into outlet. Wait 30 seconds for it to power up 4. Go back to the Home app and complete outlet setup 5. Open Vocolinc app and update the smart outlet firmware as Apple Home doesnt do this immediately.

Lasted about a year then lost connection due to installing the vocolinc app to update firmware. Cant reconnect to HomeKit Over $80 in useless plugs. Do not buy. *Edited rating 4/17 - I shot-gunned enough fixes and found a solution.. I restored my iphone from a much earlier back up before the install broke the connection. I re-updated IOS and homekit. I factory reset the switch and tried it again and it was able to connect. This was probably over kill, but I could not find the specific solution online. What a MASSIVE pain to get these to work again. The plugs were fine until I tried updating the firmware through the app. something I will never mess with again. I will fix the 1 star review to a 4 star review.... because the plugs are fine, but the app is complete garbage. I should have read the other reviews before installing it.

If you want a dual system plug, this is the one to buy. Effective, affordable, easy to use.

I always wanted to do home automation, but I always thought it was out of reach financially. Well, once I picked up an Apple HomePod, I began to see how simple HomeKit makes things. The integration of these smart outlets is perfect. I followed the instructions, and they synced up perfectly. The only issue I had was not with the outlet, but my phone. During setup, the instructions tell you to connect your device to the 2.4 wifi network at your location, but my phone had disconnected from it, and tried going back to the 5GHz, which is not supported (my guess is because 2.4 offers a better range). Once everything was on the correct network. It was super simple, and now I can access everything with voice command, check on the outlets remotely, OR automate those outlets to come on or off at certain times, or when someone leaves the property. Pretty awesome.

I was hesitant to jump into the smart home game, because I knew it was an expensive road, full of maintenance and glitches, or so I thought. At $30 for two smart outlets, I found it very affordable and I decided to give it a try. WOW! Using Homekit, the setup was a breeze! Plug it in, open Homekit app, scan the QR code and there you go! Done! No HUB needed, these work right out of the box using only your phone and wifi. Setup takes 30 seconds. I was expecting a delay when turning lights on and off, but it is instant! Its fast enough you can click it on and off, over and over really fast, like a regular light switch to annoy your friends or family ;) Ive been using these plugs for the last month or so, and they are setup to automation and turn on 1 hour before sunrise, then turn off when we leave the house! Then, they turn on right before sunset and when I jump in bed I just say Goodnight! and they turn off with the siri voice shortcuts! I loved them so much that I bought two more, plus their smart Wi-Fi color changing light bulb. They all work together flawlessly and I can highly recommend these if you are starting out with a smart home.

I purchased one of these switch outlets to use with HomeKit. Since I already had a few Vocolinc devices, setup was quick and easy using the bar code that came with the product. It integrated with my HomeKit and Alexa automatically since I had already syncd the Vocolinc account with Homekit and Alexa Skill. The device has been working great since day one. I use these as digital timers to turn on/off lights at night in place of traditional timers. Currently Im using the device to turn on/off a scented wax melter such that the wax is only melted when someone is home by using the geo-fencing features in Apple HomeKit Automation and the attached device. These devices are excellent. I have several of them now and use them to control not only lights, but also oil scent diffusers and wax melters. Its great to set an automation to turn them off when you leave, and back on when you return, so youre not wasting scent while no one is home.

I’ve tried a lot of Smartplugs and VOCOlinc’s Smartplugs are one of the easiest to connect to their app and Google Assistant and to use and control. I like that I can use them to turn off lamps, iron, hair straighteners, and other items around the house that can use a lot of energy when on / plugged in, but not used, and cause a lot of damage if left on. I like that it’s one of only 2 smartplugs brands that are compatible with the platform of an energy company in California called OhmConnect. So when the grid needs me to use less energy, OhmConnect turns my smartplugs and the devices connected to them off for me. I save energy and OhmConnect pays me for it. Now, I connect my boys’ computers to them to help preserve the battery. We always tell them to unplug their computers after school is over, but they usually forget. Therefore, I’ve scheduled the smartplugs to turn off everyday after school is over and back on in the morning when they start school again. So whether they unplug their computers or not, we’re covered.

I was attracted to this four piece set for budget and compatibility with my HomeKit since I am just now building it. The ease and set up of each of these plugs, and the ability to name them was really ok. Several attempts at pairing may be required so patients when installing and follow app prompts. Once installed they are great! I do enjoy them and will buy an additional set to add to the rest of my electrical devices. Highly recommend for the price and the quality.

Used them for various Christmas lights. Then used them with different lamps around the house after the decorations were put away. Super easy to use, have had no issue whatsoever.

So I had to buy these as I’m in the Apple eco system and my 3 HomePods constantly tell me they aren’t connected to the internet when they are clearly streaming from it ( Spotify ) and other times just isn’t responding in the home app. I sent my HomePods back to Apple and they returned two as fine and did replace one. This was frustrating so I simply bought these and setup is super simple but let me suggest. If your device you’re using to set this up on has multiple wireless networks available. Go into your device and forget the wireless networks that your device CAN connect to. Not all of them of course. For example I have all my smart devices on 2.4 ghz with a separate ssid. I have another 5 ghz with a different ssid. This eliminates the possibility of your device you’re using to setup the smart plug connecting to the wrong ssid or WiFi. This has caught me in the past with some setups that create their own WiFi and then the device gets configured and your phone switches to the wrong WiFi and setup fails. In the end these work super great. Reliable and quick. They give a nice audible click so you know they work and now my HomePods have to behave and my lazy bum can be wherever to address the HomePod issue. The HomePod not connected to the internet error I have now discovered is directly related to my iPhone / iPad / Mac device being on a specific WiFi. If I switch them to the faster 5ghz with a different ssid my HomePods freak out and constantly complain. I now only connect my devices to 2.4 which really sucks but it works reliably this way. I have had 2 instances where the HomePods become unavailable no matter what and I pop open the app or home app and simply recycle power. I don’t mind it doesn’t monitor the power usage as I don’t need it at all. I do wish the recycle option in the plug was in the home app. It’s only available in the VOCOlinc app. It’s quick to open though so not really an issue. It also doesn’t block the other outlet. It’s plugged into a standard dual wall and I have clearance to plug in anything in the not so smart socket.
