> 24 hourMy old, big and clunky hard drive was crashing, so I bought this little thing, and it was great out of the box. Plug n play, and I easily transferred everything off my old drive to this one, and there hasnt been a problem. Its small and inconspicuous, which I like. Some people complain about the small cable, but I think its perfect. My computer guy suggested this, and Im very pleased with it.

> 24 hourJust received my 1T Passport External Drive from Amazon today. Very slow on my Lenovo Windows 10 laptop. Still waiting for it to finish backing up 78 GB. Only 1.5 GB completed in over 90 minutes. Also, I setup folders for each of my 3 computers so that I could backup each one into its own folder. The software does not allow you to specify a folder on the drive or maybe I somehow missed it. Not very excited about this purchase. Next time Ill invest a bit more money for an SSD.

> 24 hourAn external HDD is most valuable as a backup device. You can backup your data to a device that can be removed and stored in a safe location. I bought this drive for just that reason and because it came with the WD Backup software needed to schedule and create routine incremental backups. The problem I encountered with the drive was that no matter what I did, the WD Backup software refused to recognize the Passport drive as a backup target. I installed, uninstalled, reinstalled and repeated for the better part of a full day with no tangible results. I also spent more than two hours on the phone with two different Level 2 WD techs to no avail. My system is a very straight forward Windows 10 (64bit) HP, so there should have been no problem installing WD Backup. I could add, change or delete any or all the files on the Passport; My computer had no problem recognizing the presence of the WD Passport HDD; The drive passed every test thrown at it, but WD Backup absolutely refused to see it as a backup target. Your mileage may vary, but I spent a lot of time (most of a full day, all told) and accomplished nothing.

> 24 hourI was amazed that you can get a 1TB hard drive for this price! Western Digital has a good reputation and the hard drive is nice, small and light. Other than downloading some software from the WD web site, there was nothing to install it--just plug it into your PCs USB port. It came in just a few days--without me using any premium shipping. Im very satisfied!!

> 24 hourI have a 1Tb WD Elements drive that has given excellent service as a backup storage device. So, when I wanted to replace a noisy NetHDD from Iomega I naturally looked at another WD. The Passport was on sale making it the same price as the Elements so I bought it even though I dont expect to use the included backup software. So far, so good.

> 24 hourWorks just how youd want it to! Be careful not to accidentally reformat and lose all your stuff! I did because I was trying to use it to take data off my phone, which it did not work for, and ended up erasing all the data on the hard drive. Totally my fault and it was fine because I had the data elsewhere so no loss.

> 24 hourGreat little external hard drive. Took it out of the box, and plugged it into a 3.0 USB port. Windows recognized it immediately. Backups are quick and easy. My only disappointment is that I was hoping to plug it into the USB port on my Netgear router, and access it across my network. Both Netgear and Western Digital indicated that this should work, but I was unable to get Windows to see the drive. A web search found that others had the same problem, and were unable to find a solution.

> 24 hourIn my recent review of a Canon printer, I mentioned how easy it was to install. I also alluded to the fact that helpful product support is not always possible to get. I falsely assumed that the Passport would be relatively easy to set up, but remember Im a senior citizen with very limited technical knowledge. So you might guess by now that I had to call customer support to get the Passport to work properly. The person that helped me was fantastic. He took over my computer and download all the setup files that were needed in order for the device to work properly. He was extremely patient and helpful and had things working properly in about 15 minutes. So, theoretically, it should have been easy to get the Passport installed and working properly. I can honestly say that I would not have been able to do that without the help of the rep. Thanks Western Digital for having such helpful reps.
