I bought two of these drives (1TB), one for my modded Wii, and the other for my Roku TV and both work flawlessly. Ive always went with Western digital, and they always worked for a long time (I know theres always a chance youll get a dud, but Ive never had an issue with any of my WD drives I bought in the past, theyre all still alive and well).

Very happy with the size and portability of this HD. Although I will only be talking about the HD and not the portability because I bought this HD more to have it always plugged in to my computer. I have no issues with it. I cant even hear it. I only know its plugged in because I can see it on my computer. It works amazing. I am using it for all my drop box files and backup. Very happy with this and I will recommend this HD to anyone. Also the size is awesome. Its nice and small and fits anywhere.

Have had a WD Passport in the past, and needed an additional one so went with the product I trusted. Thought the new build was very sleek. Purchased it, came with wonderfully designed packaging and promptly on time. But, upon plugging it into the computer the hard drive would not launch. Tried multiple product fixes on their site but nothing worked. Googled a lot and ended up finding out my brand new drive must be corrupt. Contacted the company and havent heard anything back yet. Used to love this brand, but now frustrated. UPDATE--- Contacted the company and they took me step by step through how to fix this issue. Very helpful and kind, and did without a fuss. Love this company.

    Greater than one week

I have several 1 terr USB 3.0 so I thought I would save a few bucks and get a warehouse return. There was a good reason it was returned in the first place. Not sure Amazon checks them when returned. Basically DOA. Would not do a long format. Tried to move a large 260 gig file and it sat for an hour. Then it would not reformat and stalled my computer until I unplugged it. Returned it and instead got a new non-refurbished and it is loading a 760 gig folder with no problem. I do pretty good on warehouse items but will avoid returned electronics in the future.

Used this little guy to upgrade the storage on my ps4 slim. The days of juggling which games were downloaded are a thing of the past! It was really easy to set up, and after a couple weeks of heavy use, it’s shown no delays or any form of hiccup. I’ll update this if it fails randomly, but so far this has been one of my best purchases in a while. No regerts.

Let me start by saying that I was ready return this hd (or chuck it against the wall) after multiple unsuccessful amateur troubleshooting and reformatting attempts. Im running MacOS High Sierra 10.13, which is not included on the WD support page. Their instructions sound simple - open Disk Utility, erase, reformat in exFat. If your computer is like mine, it gives you an error message when you attempt to erase and reformat. Thats when I was ready to whip it against the wall and call it a day. Reluctantly, I decided to call WD tech support. I spoke to a very nice man from another country who was able to help. **To reformat for MacOS High Sierra 10.13** -Go to support.wdc.com, then scroll down to Software for Mac and click WD Drive Utilities for Mac to download. -Once all is downloaded, open WD Drive Utilities. -Make sure your hd is plugged in, then select it at the top of the page (mine shows an image of My Passport Ultra). -Click Drive Erase, make sure Format is HFS+J, select the check box, then Erase Drive. -Your hd should now show up on your desktop ready for files to drop. Now that its reformatted, its working as expected. (Photo note: slightest bit of oil on your hands will change the color of your hd...)

My old, big and clunky hard drive was crashing, so I bought this little thing, and it was great out of the box. Plug n play, and I easily transferred everything off my old drive to this one, and there hasnt been a problem. Its small and inconspicuous, which I like. Some people complain about the small cable, but I think its perfect. My computer guy suggested this, and Im very pleased with it.

I bought this bc i have a couple laptops that have photos/ videos/ projects of mine that i wanted to unload off of there. Few reasons: laptops are older and i need to factory reset them, i want to sell these devices after they are all cleaned off, i also want all of my memories in one location. But i guess i didn’t do enough research on hard drives because i didn’t know that they were only comparable with certain programs, which is really really inconvenient. The laptops i have have older windows programs on them, which the hard drive is not cooperating with. I bought this and still have yet to use it. So I’m really salty(disappointed). It also has to be “reformatted” (whatever that means) to be compatible and operate with Apple devices. I wish i knew all of this before buying but i don’t want to return it- in case there’s actually a way i can use it and just don’t know how yet. So if anyone has any answers, tips, or suggestions on how to fix this issue, please comment or contact me. I’ll REALLY appreciate it.

Well what can I say its amazing so far. Does everything as advertised. Im not sure how protected the HDD is but it feels nice and sturdy. Im not willing to try and find out though. Its really nice to have 1tb of storage from western digital to backup all my data so when the cheap brand hard drive dies in my laptop I still have something to rely on. My laptop hard drive died about a week ago and sadly it was too far gone to create a new backup. but because of this hard drive I havent lost all of my progress from my drawings and can later go back to them

My Passport is the trusted, portable storage that perfectly complements your on-the-go lifestyle. Designed to fit in the palm of your hand, there’s plenty of space to store a massive amount of photos, videos, music and documents. Perfectly paired with WD Backup software and password protection, the My Passport drive helps keep your files safe.
