> 3 dayIf I ever have to buy a portable external drive for my company I always buy these, so when I was buying one for myself I figured why not get the same. These are easy to use, just plug it in and move your files to it. Ive never (knock on wood) had a problem with them.

> 3 dayMy old, big and clunky hard drive was crashing, so I bought this little thing, and it was great out of the box. Plug n play, and I easily transferred everything off my old drive to this one, and there hasnt been a problem. Its small and inconspicuous, which I like. Some people complain about the small cable, but I think its perfect. My computer guy suggested this, and Im very pleased with it.

> 3 dayUsed this little guy to upgrade the storage on my ps4 slim. The days of juggling which games were downloaded are a thing of the past! It was really easy to set up, and after a couple weeks of heavy use, it’s shown no delays or any form of hiccup. I’ll update this if it fails randomly, but so far this has been one of my best purchases in a while. No regerts.

> 3 dayWorks fine with my aftermarket USB 3.0 PCI card and Dell XP420 Windows 10. Just plugged it in and started using. Didnt bother to reformat. Speedtest shows nearly as fast as my internal HDs and (surprisingly) faster than a Class 10 Ultra USB 3.0 memory stick. Running 24/7 for several months now. UPDATE: 01/2019: Drive failed after just a year and a half. Not a good record there. Still under warranty, but anything on the external drive was lost. (mostly lots of backups of multiple computers but some archival storage.)

> 3 dayi used this an an additional media server on my network and it also servers as a backup server for my pc files with a batch migrate file. whih for those who dont know is a file that copies all windows files and folders and organizes them in folders on destination drive auyomatically. i did a time machine backup and restore on my mac. i had to clone my existing time machine drive and copy it to the new one to get it to work as a time machine drive. the diso uility app on macbook did not work on this drive.

> 3 daySo its one cable for data+power. I did not use the supplied software. For the price point I regret not getting the 2GB model but this is still a good choice.

Greater than one weekA little difficult to format in such a way that would accept both Linux files and windows files at the same time, but got it working without more than a couple hours of googling. Overall very fast and does what it needs to do. For those wondering, I used this to transfer files from a Linux computer (mint 18.3) to a Windows 10 one, and it worked after formatting it a certain way (I forget which way)

> 3 day*EDIT* After a little over a year, I had a partition on this drive fail. WD provides no software or first party support of any kind in terms of data recovery. Luckily I know my way around a computer pretty well and was able to recover my data myself, the average user however will probably have to shell out some money in the case that this happens to them. Also while WD is providing me with a new drive as a replacement, I am having to pay for shipping, which I find to be a little ridiculous. This entire process has been a headache and while Ive purchased two new drives to use as backups, I am reluctant to buy from WD again. Taking a star off because of all of this. *ORIGINAL* This hard drive functions perfectly. Its very light weight and has a very small footprint. By default it comes formatted for Windows (NTFS I believe) and reformatting it to work with my MacBook was a bit challenging, but that was more due to macOS than this drive. Needless to say, after formatting, this drive now functions flawlessly and I use it for Time Machine backups regularly. The only downfall Ive found is that it seems like LED in the back wont completely turn off of the drive is connected to power, even if the computer is off. In my case, this was evident due to the fact that I have it connected to a powered USB hub, so even when my computer is off, the drive still receives power. This however is solved by just unplugging the drive when not in use so it really is just a minor issue, if even one at all. I will definitely go with Western Digital for my next external hard drive purchase
