Ive had very good luck with WD drives in the past. Im giving this an average review because I really dont know how reliable this will be in the future. A hard drive shipped in a soft pouch doesnt comfort me though and Im thinking that continuing Amazon Prime after the free trial might not be such a good idea.

Bought it at $69.99 and has worked great for me so far. Has good download/upload speeds and seems like its built well. I have not had any corruption issues with it and hopefully wont because its being used to store backups.

I bought this to backup my Mac and pictures...probably more space thanIll ever need but the 2TB didnt cost much more than the 1TB so why not? Its smaller than I thought it would be which is great! Disk utility was giving me issues with the error MediaKit reports not enough space on device for requested operation. Im pretty good with computers but am by no means techie. I searched WD Passport reformat Mac MediaKit reports not enough space on device for requested operation and found a tutorial that worked perfectly...it was not as easy as disk utility but it worked so Im not complaining.

Pretty fast Hard drive even with USB 2.0 Very small, easy to use, but have to download new version of the software. Software doesnt allow you to choose each file to backup or skip. It also buries the backup way down, so you have to search for it. The software could be better designed. Why do the colored ones cost $20 more?

I do love this product BUT... and I almost thought about giving it four stars or less because of this...YOU HAVE TO FORMAT IT for a Mac. It wouldnt work and even when I followed the instructions, it still wasnt responsive. I thankfully found the packaging it came in, called WD hotline for help and they walked me through my computer settings to format it for proper use. It has been backing everything up beautifully since then. So, if youre like me and have very little computer knowledge, KEEP the packaging and call the hotline to help set it up.

after some weeks of usage, it corresponds to my needs, I like the design, the fast link and the space of the drive. I hope it will last long time.

Strengths: - Plug and play mechanism, optional software is easy to use and useful. PC detected the external HD immediately with no problems whatsoever (using Windows 7 64-bit). - I like WDs straight to the point minimalist packaging and design. Weaknesses: - The glossy finish gets easily scratched. Additional comments: New design is slick in comparison to a WD My Passport from 2010, but this is a matter of taste. Anyways, a USB 3.0 cable is included but I did not capture a photograph of it.

This drive is really beautiful and connected very easily. Ive been backing up my system and intend to use it to store my recorded music. Very happy with the seller. It was received very quickly and packaged well.

This is the third WD My Passport external hard drive Ive purchased over the last two years. I use them, along with both free and subscribed CrashPlan accounts, to back up the data on a variety of laptop and desktop PCs. The WD drives serve this purpose well; theyre incredibly easy to set up and use as either dedicated or multi-system drives, and -- like the internal WD drives Ive used over way more years than I care to admit to -- they run and run and run. Buy a good carrying case (I like the semi-hard cases; more room inside for the cable) and youre good to go for extended road trips with your laptop. WD also provides backup software with these drives, but I havent tried it.

I love WD products. I have a MacBook Pro and am a photographer and take tons of video. This is my life saver for keeping photos and videos safe. I got a 2tb because they have reviewed as lasting longer. Only time will tell but I have a 500gb that I got about 5 years ago that is still working. I dont keep mine plugged in. I put my photos and video on and then unplug and store in a case.
