These work great and are reasonably priced. The reason for one star off is because I had to reformat in order to get it to work on a Mac and there was a pretty serious error during the formatting process that ended up costing me a lot of time. It would be nice if they offered a Mac and PC version to choose from. This is my second one and theyve both performed great except for the one hiccup and the size of these is hard to beat.

For the money it has a lot of storage and is not as big as some older drives for the same amount of memory. It is a quite drive and I use is to store videos from cameras.

Purchased to serve as my backup non-cloud system. Works great. The software that comes with it works great. Good value for the price point. I would purchase again.

Used it with my Xbox One S too beef up the storage since we all know that 500GB is not enough nowadays. After plugging the hard drive into my Xbox, you need to format it which takes about 5 seconds, and youre ready to go.

I bought this for my PlayStation 4 and I couldnt be happier. Its small and has a slick stylish design that works well. Its pretty straight forward as far as setting up and only takes a minute. Just plug in and follow the simple steps. I highly recommend for use with PlayStation and will be buying another.

Got the item and after it warmed up from being out in the cold delivery truck I hooped it up and in about 15 minutes had software installed updated and my complete backup completed. Love this item even though I know there are newer more improved models this one works for my situation.

This is the third WD My Passport external hard drive Ive purchased over the last two years. I use them, along with both free and subscribed CrashPlan accounts, to back up the data on a variety of laptop and desktop PCs. The WD drives serve this purpose well; theyre incredibly easy to set up and use as either dedicated or multi-system drives, and -- like the internal WD drives Ive used over way more years than I care to admit to -- they run and run and run. Buy a good carrying case (I like the semi-hard cases; more room inside for the cable) and youre good to go for extended road trips with your laptop. WD also provides backup software with these drives, but I havent tried it.

Pretty fast Hard drive even with USB 2.0 Very small, easy to use, but have to download new version of the software. Software doesnt allow you to choose each file to backup or skip. It also buries the backup way down, so you have to search for it. The software could be better designed. Why do the colored ones cost $20 more?

The drive itself appears to be fine. But I bought this as a backup for my Windows OS 10 desktop, and the WB Backup software is unusable, and the docs are useless. I repeatedly got a There is not enough free space on the backup drive trying to back up when the Passport was brand new. And I only had 1TB to backup on this 2TB drive. When I googled the error message, I found this is a very common complaint. I tried the various fixes (reformat, repartition, reboot, reinstall, etc), but nothing worked. In the end I used the regular Windows backup utility, which worked fine. Obviously. Lesson learned (again) - dont trust software made by a hardware company. Id give this 0 stars for software, 5 stars (so far) for hardware, average is 2.5 stars, and Im rounding down for wasting my time.

Long time fan and buyer of the WD Passport portable drives but this new model doesnt work with my TV like the others have. I reformatted the drive, first NTFS and then FAT32 as a last-ditch attempand it didnt fix the problem. My television just could not tell I had a drive plugged into the USB. I called the Western Digital tech support and it didnt go too well. The woman I spoke with had a thick accent and I had trouble understanding her. That didnt bother me, after all, its likely my American accent makes it hard for her to understand me. What did bother me was that she had a bit of a nasty tone and would ask me a question and then interrupt me when I attempted to give her a brief answer. This happened repeatedly. Whats worse is that she seemed to have no working knowledge of the drive.. She ended up asking me to reformat the drive, and had she been listening when I first explained the problem shed have known Id already reformatted it twice. She asked me to call back and give another tech support person the make and model of my television. Since other WD drives worked perfectly right out of the box and since this call was such a nightmare I just decided to return the drive and not deal with their techs again.
