Very easy set up, and works very well. Only reason Im not 5 stars is the drive seems slower than I expected. Quality and appearance is really good, but a bit faster would be nice. I use this drive every day, and Im typically using an SSD, so my view of speed may be a bit warped. Ive been using SSD for a long time so my expectations for speed on a portable drive may be somewhat unrealistic. I definitely recommend this drive.

Ive had very good luck with WD drives in the past. Im giving this an average review because I really dont know how reliable this will be in the future. A hard drive shipped in a soft pouch doesnt comfort me though and Im thinking that continuing Amazon Prime after the free trial might not be such a good idea.

Great product I recommend this for gaming and pc saving . But disconnect this product after your done with it . Because a power surge killed my first one but Im happy over all

Works exactly like it should. Not sure that I am a fan of the software that it comes with and would rather use it without. I mainly just use it to have a copy of my word documents and store my steam games. I can play my steam games off of this no problem. Not a fan of the light on it either. I would rather it just stay on without blinking whenever its being used. Ive put a small piece of electrical tape over it to keep it from bothering me

It’s always plugged into my ps4 as active storage...BEWARE: data can become corrupt if you don’t use appropriate surge protection! So far my ps4 has recovered data every time when it wasn’t plugged in to surge protector.

Easily recognized by Windows 7, lots of storage, very fast, reliable. The only drawbacks were two. First problem: is that there is software, or stuff on the drive pre-packaged that I deleted, and dont want on there and dont like the anxiety of having to research independently if I can delete it or not use it (it was fine to delete and not use). Second problem: is that Windows 7 doesnt reliably do a pop-up of when it is connected. A connect notification is only really an issue because I have to a couple of extra clicks to get to the drive when connected and wastes several seconds of my time -so not really a problem.

I bought this to backup my Mac and pictures...probably more space thanIll ever need but the 2TB didnt cost much more than the 1TB so why not? Its smaller than I thought it would be which is great! Disk utility was giving me issues with the error MediaKit reports not enough space on device for requested operation. Im pretty good with computers but am by no means techie. I searched WD Passport reformat Mac MediaKit reports not enough space on device for requested operation and found a tutorial that worked perfectly...it was not as easy as disk utility but it worked so Im not complaining.

Just got it today. Brand spanking new as advertised. So far, Im impressed! The Read/Write speeds are pretty damn good in my opinion. Ive transferred a 22.5GB game onto it in less than 5 minutes. Leaps and bounds from my VERY outdated WD MyBook Essential. This External drive does NOT require an external power source; which I was somewhat surprised by. Its a little bigger than my wallet, which also threw me for a loop. I cant believe its so small! Its also CRAZY quiet! It doesnt have any ventilation/fans that I can see... so its STEALTH quiet. I thought it wasnt working initially until I touched it and felt it vibrating. I cant think of a single fault with the item I have. If anything; the USB 3.0 cord that comes with it is rather short; Less than a foot Id say. (Shorter is better though as far as transfer/stability goes, so Im not that upset about it)

The drive itself appears to be fine. But I bought this as a backup for my Windows OS 10 desktop, and the WB Backup software is unusable, and the docs are useless. I repeatedly got a There is not enough free space on the backup drive trying to back up when the Passport was brand new. And I only had 1TB to backup on this 2TB drive. When I googled the error message, I found this is a very common complaint. I tried the various fixes (reformat, repartition, reboot, reinstall, etc), but nothing worked. In the end I used the regular Windows backup utility, which worked fine. Obviously. Lesson learned (again) - dont trust software made by a hardware company. Id give this 0 stars for software, 5 stars (so far) for hardware, average is 2.5 stars, and Im rounding down for wasting my time.

Great drive. Reasonably priced for a 2TB. I have 3 WD portable drives. They all work well and a couple have lasted several years. The difference between this one and the Ultra is backup software. I dont need it. I needed a good external drive for use with my PS4 and this one works well. But, youll have to reformat it for FAT or exFAT. PS4 wont recognize NTFS file system. These portable are great. I greatly prefer them to standard external hard drives. Theres no need for an external power source. It gets all its power through the USB port. This drive is USB 3.0. The performance is pretty good. Seems to maintain 100 MB/sec read and write speeds and higher depending on the file size. It can drop to close to 50-60 MB/sec for large file transfers. This drive is about as small as it can be and not terribly heavy. Its a great choice if you need some external storage. I trust Western Digital. Based on years of good experience with their products. I do not trust the other brand most typically compared to WD. I have had major problems with their drives.
