I dont know Which rating is fair.I could not install this program into my old computer. I think its probably the computers fault. So I never used this software. However, I did download the 13 version. I think the 13 version is phenomenal. Very accurate out of the box. Easy to use. IT service is very good. However, after about a 3 month period you have to pay $20 every time you call. This I did not know until the 3rd time I called. Every time I try to update my accuracy or my user profile I end up getting some sort of error. Im not sure if the error is due to some workings within the computer, the software, or perhaps my Internet. I have called 3 separate times to the IT helpers. They have been helpful and resolved my issue every time. Im curious however, the accuracy update seems to have some sort of a glitch. For my accent and voice type, the software was extremely accurate out of the box so I have simply stopped trying to update the accuracy. Everything works fine when I leave that option unexplored. I would give the 13 version 5 stars. It has some limitations but it exceeded my expectations.

If you lose your CD you are done for. I am told by thier online store (they issue the dowload version for replacement) also general customer support ..that they offer no download for those who do not buy directly from them. I consider lack download service to ALL customers stealing in 2013. They wanted me to buy another CD. I am not kidding. Ive got the Amazon reciept in front of me. I dont like it but have to use it. I am forced to download an unaltered .ISO (illegal? hahaha!) to install it. I need it because I am a developemntally disabled adult who has trouble communicating day to day and staying on track. My mother is in an terrible situation requiring me to write Adult Protactive Services in Oklahoma; a conservative Right To Work state with social service job-soakers. Ive got to fight for my mother by writing officals and authorities. Thanks Nuance?? I will PIRATE your softwares from now on if I have to make the crack myself and there is no better help available.

I debated whether to buy this or the newer version, but after reading other reviews I didnt feel like the newer version would be that important for me. It ran well on my old pc that ran Windows XP, though it would be alittle slow once in a while. Runs great on my newer computer and after training it to my voice it does great. (I use it to transcribe recordings that I have already made, so i repeat what i am listening to over the earphones).

Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11 is a good product, but it is not for the faint of heart and it is not for damsels who distress. I bought this product for my girlfriend because she wanted to consider typing more e-mails and possibly journalizing but had no familiarity with the keyboard. Fortunately I am computer savvy so I was able to set it up for her and show her the basics of operation. Set up would have been extremely difficult of the non-savvy person. After loading, one needs to learn to master the Dragon. This includes their training practicing but it includes a lot more afterwards. It takes a long time to learn that one can just speak into the microphone which was included, but one would not necessarily want to. Because of the lag between what is said and what the Dragon types, it get the speaker all out of timing if they watch the screen while talking. And after one or more paragraphs, one can someimes forget how they phrased it originally when trying to decode the words of the Dragon. And the paragraphs will need to be decoded. I found out that the best way to work is sentence by sentence rather than paragraph by paragraph. Speak a sentence, and then turn off the dictation. Wait a minute and then see what the Dragon types. Then you should correct it before turning on the dictation and going on to the next sentence. It makes for a long and laborious process but it is better than trying to decode an entire paragraph. It takes some time with any sophisticated program to learn their ideosyncracies. And that is true with Dragon. It has its ideosyncracies (like how it begins each transcription with your first word) but they can be learned with perseverance. One needs to be prepared to persevere. If one trains the Dragon in a constant improvement mode, then over time it does get better.

    Greater than one week

This is one of the most amazing products I have ever used. Several years ago I spent a lot of time trying to get a voice recognition system to work. All I got was frustration and ended up forgetting about it. After I watched a commercial on television of how easy this product works I was skeptical, but thought for such a low price I would give it a try. I first bought the home version and was so impressed I upgraded to the premium edition within four weeks. I am now in the process of purchasing this software for many people in my company. It is hard to believe how much time I save by using this product.

I have been using the Dragon software since its first version. Accuracy has improved dramatically. However, one still needs to complete the training and correct errors in order to improve recognition. The ability to launch programs using the microphone and perform other tasks like search the Internet are handy, but the dictation feature is undoubtedly the raison dêtre of this software. I had been dictating this review and used the phrase raison dêtre for the first time and the program got it right. I wish that I had had this program and todays computing power when I was practicing law. I know it would have increased my work productivity and relieved me of my poor typing skills.

Several things to bear in mind with this product: 1) TRAIN it! Take the time to train the software to recognize YOUR voice and it works very well. 2) THROW AWAY the headphone and mic set that comes with the set. It is frustrating. I found out by using the rig with another software that the mic seems to get tired after a few minutes of recording and your voice seemingly begins to fade off. It happens 100% of the time. IF you need to use this one, experiment with different mic positions and take the sponge off of the tip to make sure the pick-up is facing the right way. 3) Highly recommend a USB headset like the Logitech USB Headset H530. In fact, I would have paid more for the software bundle to get a better headset. Nuance is not making the experience a great one, but its not a bad one either.

I was unsure whether I would be getting the latest version of the product, or not, but when it arrived it was 11.5 and not the 11.0 version stated on the product information. I had resigned myself to not having the latest as I couldnt find a product listing for 11.5 version, but the CD is actually 11.5. Product seems nice, but I havent fully trained it yet.

One star since completely unable to use if your system is running an instance of an EMR. I have my EMR running in the background and cannot use Dragon for email or other non-medical applications without completely shutting down the medical software. Useless. Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 was purchased to dictate letters to patients. I used a previous version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical and did not need the medical vocabulary for what I dictate. The medical version is VERY expensive- several hundred dollars more than this version. This version loads and generally works as expected until you try to use in a medical software program. (I use NextGen on a Citrix client). The Dragon program shuts off the microphone and a window pops up informing that Premium 11 version is prohibited for use in medical programs. You have pay more simply to be allowed to dictate into a medical program, even if you dont need the vocabulary. Healthcare workers are not the only ones that should be disgusted with Nuance (the makers of Dragon), but patients should be peeved, too. Price gouging for medical equipment results in higher costs for patients. Nuance should be ashamed for this horrible behavior.

I purchased this software several weeks ago. I installed it the day I received it and have not been able to use it yet. Numerous attempts to contact customer support by email have been worthless. I receive answers from their trouble shooting data base. I have asked the technician to call me to no avail. They have not replied to my latest emails which are now over a week old. They claim it is a hardware problem. If I do it is only as related to their program. My microphone test is OK until I try it with their software. I am using the microphone that I purchased with the software. One email from their tech stated I should go out and buy a USB mike because the jack type mike they supplied might be the problem. Mainly I do not feel I am getting any real response from a tech who knows what they are doing. I have asked to be sent to the next level of support with no reply. I am stuck because I cannot return software to my supplier. I watch the ads on TV. How wonderful they make the capabilities of the software seem. What a rude awakening when I actually tried to use the product. My computer hardware has passed their compatibility test so it is not hardware. I do have Windows XP operating system which is also supposed to be compatible. If you are like me and not a computer nerd, this program might be a problem for you like it has been for me.
