The new version of Dragon - 11.5 Premium has major problems with Word Perfect v. X6. For instance, the correct that feature simply doesnt work. Ditto for certain other features. I have had it for a month, and talked to the Dragon folks shortly after it was installed. They said they were aware of this problem and would be releasing an update/fix. A month later nothing has been done. If you use Word Perfect, I would not buy this product until I could confirm that the problem has been fixed.

I love the fact that I dont have to type my papers, but the program took some getting use to. The supplied headphones did not work well because it distorted the speech to such an extent that the program got the words wrong. I then bought an Andrea stereo headset and this was 90% better. Now I plan to upgrade my program but havent done so because the manufacturer wants full price. I paid full price upon original purchase. The upgrade should give the consumer a price break. I would have updated annually otherwise. As it is Im holding back on this one.

Lets face it, we all get very frustrated trying to learn new programs! But its usually not the program thats the problem. Its our lack of understanding on what it wants. As you know, computers are not intelligent beings - they only do what theyre told. In working with Dragon premium 11, it is exactly the same way. It only does what its told. The difference is now Im talking to it. And when it doesnt do what I tell it to do, I get very frustrated! After all - it couldnt be me, could it? It takes a lot of patience to learn any new program. And it takes even more patience to be comfortable with yourself, and learn to speak clearly and talk to an inanimate object. Articulate, articulate, articulate! Ive had the fortunate experience of some public speaking. That makes it a little easier for me to sit at my desk and talk to my dumb computer. But it still can be very frustrating. Im developing a new website, and felt that it would be very handy to use speech recognition instead of the keyboard for developing the content of my site. I first tried the speech recognition software that came with Vista - now that was interesting! Each paragraph was filled with gobbledygook and I actually ended up on the planet Jupiter! It didnt take long to know that was not what I wanted to use. I purchased Dragon premium 11 and have found it to be very precise and easy to use. The problem I have with it only happens when I began to mumble or not articulate my words properly or give incorrect commands. The most frustrating thing to me is learning the commands for fixing my mistakes. I find it gaining accuracy all the time as the program is continually upgrading my profile and learning the way I speak. And I am learning to be more accurate in my pronunciation. I am really enjoying this program, and hope become very proficient at it fairly quickly. I have written entire review with Dragon premium 11. There were a few mistakes that I corrected that were entirely my fault (the program worked well). The rest is left uncorrected. It works well. Just relax and be patient, especially with yourself. J. R. P. S. It even likes big words like articulate and objectionable and Pentateuch and introspective and hyperbaric biosphere and - well just get the program and give it a try. And be patient. Just remember what it was like when you tried to get your keyboard proficiency up to 70 words per minute.

I purchased this software several weeks ago. I installed it the day I received it and have not been able to use it yet. Numerous attempts to contact customer support by email have been worthless. I receive answers from their trouble shooting data base. I have asked the technician to call me to no avail. They have not replied to my latest emails which are now over a week old. They claim it is a hardware problem. If I do it is only as related to their program. My microphone test is OK until I try it with their software. I am using the microphone that I purchased with the software. One email from their tech stated I should go out and buy a USB mike because the jack type mike they supplied might be the problem. Mainly I do not feel I am getting any real response from a tech who knows what they are doing. I have asked to be sent to the next level of support with no reply. I am stuck because I cannot return software to my supplier. I watch the ads on TV. How wonderful they make the capabilities of the software seem. What a rude awakening when I actually tried to use the product. My computer hardware has passed their compatibility test so it is not hardware. I do have Windows XP operating system which is also supposed to be compatible. If you are like me and not a computer nerd, this program might be a problem for you like it has been for me.

If Dragon Speak could handle my accent better, I would give it an 8 out of 10. Ive only had it a month and so we are both learning. It is easy to set up and to use but it seems to be a bit of a memory hog. Im running a 64 bit, Windows 7, 4G notebook and a Sound Blaster Headset. I primarily use it with Word, email and some online applications.

I had very high hopes for this product at the time I purchased it. The first few weeks of use went pretty well and I was elated with the performance. As time went by, more and more problems arose. Dragons software apparently does not play well with other applications (word processors, spreadsheets, contact managers, etc.) being active at the same time. The Dragon software seems to get in fights, of sort, with these other applications and then refusing to work at all until it is rebooted. This product is installed on a 16 GB memory, 4-processor, Windows 7, 64 bit, machine. I sure wish the Dragon folks could get this thing working -- Id love to make it a part of my business day!

I am envious of the reviewers who had no trouble with installation. I believed, since I have a new, clean Windows 7 64 bit system, that I too would have such an experience. Outside of the fact that everything Ive ordered recently from Amazon seems to have some delay in shipment, I am extremely frustrated with this product. I used Dragon 9 on my old laptop to dictate my patient notes. While not flawless, it saved me several hours a night on charts. Upon purchase of a newer laptop, I could not (nor could anyone else) get Dragon 9 to work. After reading the reviews here and elsewhere, I ordered Version 11 Premium. 6 hours later I am still unable to install the product due to various Errors (many of which appear to be searching for a file on my C drive). My IT savvy friends are unable to install the product. Nuance Customer Service tells me there must be some other program preventing the install. Perhaps that may be true, but its hardly service to tell me theres a problem and not offer a solution. I am also not pleased that the software arrived without a manual - when I pay nearly $200 for a product I expect something more than a trifold card with quick and dirty instructions on it. The box does not even appear to be a standard manufacturers. I have faith that the seller will right things for me, but I suspect this will mean returning the item (and yes, I am aware that Windows 7 comes with its own VR software, but it doesnt work well either Ive learned).

I just got my Dragon version 11 over Labor Day weekend, and have been using it with my computer. I used version 9 five years ago and found it too frustrating with all of the inaccuracies. Recently, my orthopedic surgeon recommended version 11, as his advice to me was to save your hands for something more meaningful than computer work, such as playing a musical instrument, as I do suffer from repetitive stress injuries from all the computer typing. I am thrilled with this version of Dragon, and almost right out-of-the-box, I was able to dictate an entire recipe into a Word document with only two or three minor mistakes. By the way, I have dictated my entire review here using just my voice.

Dragon Naturally Speaking is an amazing Speech Recogniton program. It delivers everything it promises. One thing that you must decide before purchasing this or any other Speech recognition program. Do I really need it. Can I type as fast or faster than the software. If you intend on using this type of software, you must commit to learning how to command and control the computer in a new and different way. It takes about 10 minutes to train the software to profile your voice and then it uses previously created documents, such as emails, to learn how you, personally, handle the language. There are general commands and application specific commands, such as pre-programed voice commands for Microsoft Excel and Word. You can teach the software commands for any other application such as programs you created and, of course, the voice to word dictation is extrordinary to say the least. You can dictate at a normal rate of speed and the software will keep up with you. If you get passed all the training needed and the understanding of the softwares limitations, You will find it is, simply said, just a truly ammazing piece of software. I priced this piece of software at many sites and I find Amazon had the best price.

I had really high hopes for this. I type a lot and wanted to be able to capture thoughts by speaking rather than typing, which takes away from the brainstorming process. After literally hours of training, DNS still has trouble understanding me. It recognises some things okay but still has some problems with simple sounds like if I say a it puts e so spelling a word is more work than typing. Ive tried two headsets so far, so Im trying for a third which hopefully addresses that problem. [Update] Ive tried a new headset -
