Set up is pretty easy, need to not be on Wi-Fi for initial setup. Had to disable firewalls to keep the network from booting the device. Resetting to defaults is not very easy. Decent product but could use better setup guide and improvement

I would have given this product 5 stars because I love it but the app stalls and you get the wheel spinning every time you bring it up without shutting the app down. I have to shut the app down and restart it and it works fine The data from the app is accurate and amazing .Hope there is an update as this feels like a easy bug to resolve bug

Kinda false advertising. States free monitoring 24/7. By their own admission, all this device does is monitor. So, you are paying 159.00 for monitoring, nothing else. I asked why they did not include an audible high water alarm. Their response was that it is not an often asked for improvement. But, they do offer a separate audible high water alarm. So, if you have a failure when you are asleep you will wake up to a possible flooded basement. It does tell you how many times your pumps runs every day. Big whoop! I’ll tell you exactly how many times it should run; every time the water level rises enough to to trip the float switch. Don’t pay for meaningless information, like how many gallons were pumped. Who cares? I’m keeping mine but I think it is terribly expensive for what you get. I did buy their separate high water alarm, $12.00 that’s a bargain

Update: 7/1/2022 - The cycle history has been restored in the latest app update so changing my rating and would go back to definitely recommending PumpSpy. I have used a PumpSpy for the last 3 years and up until a week ago, I would have recommended it to anyone. It has saved my basement from having water in it more than once. The feature that saved me from having water was the Cycle History. I could watch trends in real-time to see when my pump was running, how long it needed to run, estimated gallons of water it pumped, and total cycles for the day. I could also look at history from previous days and use that data to see if the cycles were getting more frequent or if they were getting further apart to indicate the water table was dropping. PumpSpy removed most of the functionality from the app on 6/3/2022. I can no longer see each time the pump runs, estimated gallons, or data from the previous day. Now it only tells you the number of runs for today and the last time it ran. You cannot see how much time elapsed between runs or an estimated number of gallons removed. With those key features being removed, I can no longer recommend this product. For the price, it is not worth the purchase if those features are not restored in the next app update. For me personally, it no longer has any of the functions that I originally purchased the PumpSpy product for and I have never experienced a company release such a useful product and then remove features after the purchase to cripple its functionality.

So, I’ve had basement water problems since we bought our house 17 years ago. Multiple time where my pump failed and flooded my basement. I’ve had back up systems fail as well. So I stumbled across this product and I’ve had it running for about 2 weeks now. My results are startling. It was fairly simple to set up and get running. Maybe like 5 minutes. The app is easy to use. But what I learned about why I’m getting water is the biggest thing I learned. My sump pump goes off, on average 900-1200 times per day. With an average of 5800-8300 gallons of water per day. Once I seen those numbers, I needed to do more investigating as to why. My first thought it is rain water running through, but I found out that there is a water inlet pipe right next to the sump area and has sprung a leak under the basement floor. While it’s not an easy fix, it is definitely fixable and will remove the terrible events of my basement filling up once every 1-2 years. Thank you pump spy for being available to so it could open my eyes and investigation as to why I have basement water problems. I highly recommend this product

It’s hit and miss. Readings aren’t accurate, but at at least let’s me know there is power.

I have this installed in my basement. I had a problem where my sump pump would run excessively. This would alert me. I was happy. Eventually the switch in the pump failed completely. Given the unusual circumstances of COVID-19, my county being on lockdown, people being advised to stay home, I leveraged the ability of this device to let me know when the pump needed to run so I could limp along until I could order a new pump and find a good time to swap it out. Great. Until I started receiving emails from the company bluntly telling me, and this is from the email, If you do not make the necessary repairs/adjustments, we will temporarily suspend your monitoring service until they are completed. Wow. So I had to stop doing my job (luckily I still have one) so I could drop everything and resolve their problem. Granted, these are extraordinary times, but there was no inquiry about if they could help, no ask if I could address the problem, just a blunt order to fix my pump. Apparently sending emails is too much of a strain for their system. Is this customer service? So again, if you want a cute toy to just tell you things are working fine, you want to see how long your pump runs per cycle, it does the job. It also gets old pretty quick. If you need something to help you out when things go wrong, look elsewhere. Device works great, but the attitude of the company leaves a lot to be desired and really diminishes the value of the device. Pretty pricey toy just to reassure you when things are good, but abandon you when you really need it.

I’m writing my PumpSpy review after using it for over two months now, and I’m very happy with the product capabilities, and peace of mind for my primary sump pump. Installation and use of the smart phone app (iOS in my case) was very easy if you follow the directions carefully. Be sure during installation to take time to test the alarm set and clear notifications for each of the monitored functions. PumpSpy Technical Support is only available by email, and they are very responsive in resolving issues. My original PumpSpy out of the box kept alarming on high water level even without the sensor attached, so PumpSpy sent a replacement under warranty right away, and it has been working fine. Similar to other reviews I read, I experienced issues with my WiFi network. I tried a WiFi range extender and that didn’t help either. Since PumpSpy monitors and alerts when WiFi signal is lost, I got loss of signal alerts all the time, and had to reboot my router every couple of days. I didn’t realize my WiFi network was that bad since I hadn’t been monitoring it that closely until I had PumpSpy to alert me when it wasn’t working. But then I realized other devices lost WiFi signal too when PumpSpy reported it. My solution there was to replace my old traditional WiFi router and range extender with a eero Pro 3-pack mesh router. That product is amazing, and resolved all my WiFi issues. I now have a strong WiFi signal that is almost as fast as a wired port, on each level of my home, and there have been zero interruptions. I haven’t had a PumpSpy WiFi alert since installing the eero! One thing that surprised me with the PumpSpy is how often my primary sump pump cycles. I really didn’t believe it at first until I timed it and observed it running and reporting the cycles. It runs hundreds of times a day after it rains. It’s interesting to see the cycle history to compare the cycles when it has been dry, or is raining. Overall, PumpSpy is a great product that does what it says it will do, but you might need to upgrade your WiFi, which you will also be glad you did!

Update: 6-15-22: I spoke with someone from PumpSpy, and they are going to add the features back and explore how to better address this going forward. The developer of this product has actively removed a key feature: cycle history. Previously you could see 90 days worth of information on how often the sump pump ran. Now it only tells you the number for the current day. They have not provided any announcement or reasoning or otherwise indicated why they removed this key feature. If they are willing to remove that feature, it’s only a matter of time before future “improvements” further nerf this product and its usefulness.

Update: Tech support eventually reached out via Facebook messenger. They sent me another unit that had the same problem connecting as the first. Then a 3rd unit arrived, and I was eventually able to get that to connect. Now that it is connected, it seems to work well. _______________ It wont connect either automatically with the app or manually with a computer or phone. The website login option has been discontinued. Left a message on Facebook. but no response. Called and had to leave a message with no response.
