This drive had operated nearly flawlessly since 2015 when I originally purchased it. Today 5/8/20 this has changed. I was using my PC normally, browsing on chrome when Windows crashed with a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED bluescreen. Upon restart I was greeted with the dreaded NTLDR missing boot error. The next step was to throw a Windows 10 ISO in so I could try a repair. The repair utility saw the drive, and claimed it had a storage capacity of 0 bytes. Following this I attempted to read the drive using an external enclosure. The drive was not detected on multiple machines using this method. These series of events has lead me to the conclusion that the drive has died. No S.M.A.R.T. warnings provided. I checked the Sandisk SSD dashboard a week ago, and it claimed the drive was in good health. This failure has caused me to lose important data tied to my college classes, data which had not been around long enough for the backup window to kick in. This event has been a intense frustration all day, and now I am faced with trying to either find a way to restore the data, or start fresh without my files. For this reason, I cannot currently recommend this drive for long term usage. The only reason I am giving it two stars instead of one, is that while it was working, it was a well performing drive.

Im using this as an OS drive to speed up a system at a small business. I cant overstate how much snappier the machine feels with this SSD as opposed to the traditional plate drive it replaced. This drive has spoiled me and I will soon be forced to add one of these babies to every machine I have any contact with at the office. With the drop in SSD prices you really get a much larger bang for your buck by adding one of these as opposed to spending the same or more money on adding more RAM. If your system already has 4GBs of RAM or more and you have your OS on a platter-type spinning drive, this is the upgrade that will make you feel like you have a brand new computer. Couldnt be happier with the purchase. Cant believe I didnt do this sooner.

This SSD was very affordable and it totally revived my laptop. The installation of the drive was very easy. If you are new to replacing a hard drive then I suggest researching what you might need to transfer an image of your existing drive to your new SSD. The bootup time required to boot Windows has decreased. A side benefit if you have a computer with a little amount of ram (4gb RAM or less) is that it speeds up the processes running in the background. An example of this is if your are pushing the limits of your ram the system begins to access your hard drive to act as an expanded ram source. With a SSD drive this doesnt slow down your computer at all, but with a drive that spins it has to spin your drive constantly as it acts as a temporary source for RAM thus slowing down all of the processes. It accesses the SSD similar to RAM because there are no moving parts. I dont want to get technical on the specifics but just want to indicate that the increase in performance is more noticeable when the SSD is placed in an older computer than in a brand new computer that already has 8gb RAM or more. I plan to get several more years of use out of my laptop because of this SSD.

I installed this SSD in my laptop for my operating system and I have a 1TB hard drive for my data storage. My system (Windows 7) boots up in 20 seconds! This is super fast. With Hibernate disabled and the page file moved to the HDD, the whole Windows 7 only takes up about 30 GB. This is more than enough room for my programs. The SSD was really easy to install and I installed it in my Acer Aspire E5-573G-52G3 laptop and now it is a beast. It doesnt make any noise and it uses little power. If your computer is slow booting up, buy this SSD and use it for your primary operating system drive and use a HDD for your secondary drive you use to store files on. If your computer has a free SATA port, this would make a huge difference. Even if you have to remove your DVD drive, that is fine, an SSD is better than a DVD drive. Plus, just buy an external DVD drive for about 20-30 dollars and you will have a nice computer. In all, this is a good price for an SSD that will make your computer and programs start much faster. Browsers now load instantly!

I have been using this SSD for about a month now, and so far no regrets. The price point of the SSD was significantly lower that others of similar capacity. Boot time on my system with this SSD is 20 seconds, compared to a conventional HD at just over 2 minutes. Application launch time appears to be about 2-3x faster as well. As for reliability, time will be the judge, but since I have been using other SanDisk products for 15 years without any issues, I am confident this SSD will not disappoint. As other users have noted, this does not come with cloning software, but there are many available for free.

This is everything you want in an SSD at the right price. Its incredibly quick, boots like lightning, and (obviously) silent. The key caveat here is that it does NOT come with imaging/cloning software. Now, if you already have that software, or you know what youre doing? Youre going to have no problems. But if you dont really know what youre doing, and youre looking to transfer over a windows install, youre going to have to find some software to get the job done (and know how to use it...). Thats actually an important point (that is rather casually omitted). But there is no questioning this drives efficacy, especially at the price. Just know what you (arent) getting.

First time using Sandisk SSD, Unfortunately Sandisk SSD dashboard is not compatible to Win XP OS. So I removed my Samsung 840 Evo SSD from my Lenovo S10-3 Win 7 and tried installing the Sandisk SSD Dashboard there but the display resolution is not compatible as it requires minimum 1024X768 while the Lenovo S10-3 is 1024X600. Very surprised though as the Samsung Magician software still runs on the Lenovo S10-3. Anyway, currently I used EaseUS Todo Back-up free to clone my Win XP machine to the Sandisk SSD and tune the machine to be SSD optimize. I downloaded Sandisk SSD toolkit on my XP machine but it did not recognize the Sandisk SSD PLUS installed. Oh well, I probably switch over one of my Samsung 850 EVO SSD from my MSI Win 7 machine to the XP machine and use the Sandisk SSD PLUS on it. At least if Sandisk has home built cloning software such as Samsung Migrate and Samsung Magician on CD (rather that downloading it), this will ease the user installation experience

I bought this to upgrade a 64GB SanDisk SSD that I had in my gaming PC. I gave the PC to a friend, and I wanted to upgrade the SSD before doing so, that way hed have a fresh, new SSD to use, and because 64GB was getting a bit messy to deal with storage-wise (I store most things on a hard drive though). I had no issues with the old SanDisk SSD, so I didnt hesitate to go with another SanDisk SSD to replace it. This was cheap, and seemed like a simple, low cost solution. It arrived, and I right away swapped the SSDs, and re-installed Windows and it is working fine in the few weeks that my friend has been using it. He says its fast, and things load quickly on it, so I am happy. Keep up the great work SanDisk!

Put this into a refurbished HP desktop computer. Required a SATA cable and a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter kit. Install was a snap; the SSD has 4 little screw holes so it mounts easily into the adapter and the existing motherboard had a free slot available (and a power connection). I was able to install windows 7 onto this drive with no issues and it booted fine. If your new drive doesnt show up automatically, right click on My Computer and click manage. Then select Disk management in the left pane. From here, you should be able to find your new SSD and initialize it. After initializing it, it should show up under My Computer like the rest of your drives. [Note, these instructions are for Windows 7 and if you already have another drive installed]. With regard to the speed, as I understand it this drive isnt the fastest one out there, but it is relatively inexpensive and will still make your computer faster than if you were using just a standard disk drive. For me, startup seemed nearly instantaneous and immediately after the home screen came up, I was able to use the computer without any lag.
