I’ve had this printer about a year and love it. Setup was easy, instructions are not bad. It took some experimenting to get it dialed in but once you find the sweet spot, it is fantastic. The biggest challenges were in finding the right PLA and getting the Qidi software set properly. I’ve found that Hatchbox PLA works the best for the most consistent prints. Other setting challenges were related to the speed settings and getting retraction set properly. Would definitely buy again. I had to contact support one time for an issue with filament jamming and they were really responsive. In the end, the issue seemed to be from the PLA they sent with the machine, I threw it out once I figured out better filament.

While I havent gotten into the full swing of using the product itself, what Im very appreciative of is the outstanding level of customer support and service. Surely, theres no product thats mass produced without flaw for every customer.. however, knowing that you can email the support team, and to see the effort put forth in resolving your problem is a value that cant be bought. The team behind this product understands what it means to be good business people - and while theres a variety of 3D printers out there (which can all variably be a hit or miss,) a business that knows how to treat their customers is quite rare. Thank you to Linda, and the Qidi team.

I’ve had this printer for almost a year. This review will be long, as it has been a protracted struggle to get it to function in a marginally functional capacity. It has spent more time out of commission than it it has been “usable”. The design is outdated and, some serious design flaws exist. The quality is sorely lacking. The customer support seems amazing at first but, if they didn’t fix it the first time around, be prepared for an epic struggle. They’re propping up an overpriced import product with just enough customer support to cover an acceptable percentage of faulty product. That’s probably why the printers cost as much as they do, despite their lack of features that even cheap printers come with from the factory. This printer has not been able to achieve a small fraction of its advertised claims. I’m sure someone somewhere has had a flawless experience. I’ve been on the pages, forums, etc. Their entire product line has a pretty high percentage of bad printers for what their price point is relative to their competitors. The ubiquitous fanboys/fangirls/fanpeoples will be quick to use their lack of shared experience as a dismissal of your machine issues. That’s what you’d expect when there are those who need to justify an overpriced purchase to themselves. The filament placement locations are awful. The suitcase handle/curtain rod style external holder is worse than on a Creality machine. The internal mounting position is cumbersome and also prone to catching on the spool. Then, the filament drags across the delicate free floating ribbon cable that leads to the extruder. The extruders allow heat creep that causes extruder clogging and fowling. Bed leveling is entirely antiquated and woefully inadequate to account for variable thermal expansion amounts. Auto bed leveling is not an option, even as an add on or upgrade. Initially , the machine arrived with a broken fan blade on the extruder cooling fan. The touch screen has always had a line through it. They offered to reimburse me if I provided a proof of purchase for a replacement fan. They never provided any response about the screen. After weeks of very poor print quality, which didn’t improve with the fan replacement, the machine became entirely unable to print anything. After about a week of back and forth, they sent me a new low temp hot end. That was a little better. It still wasn’t producing good prints but, I could print some stuff. They still didn’t address the screen issue. After a few months, I began having odd first layer and bed adhesion issues. That lead to a couple weeks of back and forth, which consisted of insisting I was using the machine improperly. Also, according to them, if you run the full bed leveling cycle too often, it corrupts their proprietary firmware (assisted manual because auto bed leveling is too advanced for this machine…seriously, you can’t add it…you can cobble one onto an Ender3 but not this heap). I had to share the email string to get other QIDI owners to believe that they told me that the built in leveling feature would corrupt the firmware. I did the firmware upgrade they sent to fix the issue. It did not. Tech support still maintained that it was somehow user error. So, I went into my machine shop and machined an aluminum block to mount in place of the extruder that held a precision dial indicator. I mapped the bed and found that it had a substantial mound in the center when cold. It got worse as it heated. I also did some thermography measures. The bed heating was horribly uneven and inconsistent. Once I provided this data, and videos of me following their exact proscribed procedures, they sent a replacement heated bed. It wasn’t especially flat or evenly heated but, it was better than what it had originally. The screen still has a line through it. While troubleshooting, I decided to check the whole machine over. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I found over 20 loose fasteners throughout the machine. Some were on the verge of falling out completely. After fixing everything up, I ran their requested test prints. The gantry began making binding noises in certain situations. The machine still wasn’t producing usable results. During one of their test prints failing, the stock part cooling nozzle (it’s just a little duct that blows from one direction) broke. Tech support began to really drag their feet about responding at this point. So, I turned to attempting to solve it without them. Another awesome Qidi printer owner has designed a ton of corrective parts in an attempt to get these machines closer to its peer machines. Following my tedious struggle to coax this thing into making its own replacement parts, I figured out the gantry carriage (that mounts the hot end) is warped. Currently, the expensive piece of clutter is a heap of accumulated failure. I’ve barely managed to creat a small stable pile inside, and on top of it, consisting of it’s failed parts and other included detritus. I think I’ll keep it like that until I purchase a replacement machine. Nothing is better motivation than abject lessons. This waste of time and resources has become its own monument to abject failure. If you’ve made it this far only to buy from QIDI Tech anyway, I can only assume that you have achieved a level of optimism that’s beyond all logical reasoning or you’re a masochist.

First off 5 Stars but let me explain why! Customer Service is VERY important with any prebuilt printer with modular parts! I own 11 X-Smart printers for my business, parts have worn and failed given the amount of wear and tear I place on them! May was just an email away. I noticed the X-Smart model is no longer offered on Amazon so I emailed May for replacement print heads and she responded same day with results and cost and shipment estimates! WOW!! After sending payment I LEGIT had 8 print heads and 8 magnetic bed liners in 7 days! I couldn’t believe it, well yes I can! I’ve ordered from QidiTech before and they were expeditious in the past as well. Over the past few years I have nothing but GREAT things to say about QidiTech and their line of 3D Printers!! QIDITech is a growing supplier of great quality 3D printers! I ALWAYS recommend QIDI for someone who wants a plug and play application! Thanks May for the superb Serivce!!

I purchased this printer to print ASA, ABS, Nylon, and PC--in particular for the carbon fiber and glass reinforced filaments in these plastics (it comes with a hardened nozzle). Setup was pretty easy, I skipped the test print with PLA and immediately installed the high-temp hot end and had no issues with the install. It handled printing my carbon fiber PC with ease and the enclosed chamber gave me prints with no adhesion issues (using magigoo) and no delamination issues. I had some left over CarbonX PETG that I tried next and ran into a problem, the extruder jammed. I emailed customer support and described my issues. I was told that the stock high-temp hot-end was not suited to print PETG. However, the great customer support at QIDI was kind enough to send me a suitable hot-end and fan replacement to fit onto the print head. I also purchased 0.6 and 0.8mm nozzles for the new hot-end. After switching to the new hot-end and 0.6mm nozzle, the printer has been running like a champ. No complaints what-so-ever and I cannot recommend this printer highly enough for someone looking for an entry-level enclosed printer capable of high-temp materials. Finally, QIDI was also very responsive in getting me printer profiles to add to Qura 5 so I did not spend much time using their included slicer. I really appreciate that the company is willing to help people use the software they want to instead of forcing the use of the stock slicer.

So you are in the market for a good FDM printer. Do yourself a favor and stop right here. This is the machine for you. I work in product design & development. I am constantly using outputs from all kinds of “higher end” 3D printing systems; including FDM, SLA, SLS, Multijet Fusion, etc. These are all great technologies and I use them all at certain times depending on specific needs. But I needed a 3D printer specifically for preliminary development, breadboarding and proof of concept work. Something right next to my workstation that can generate parts on an “as needed” basis. (Which it is doing right now as I write this) So like you, I researched all of the machines on Amazon; the reviews, the forums…you name it. This Qidi X-Plus machine just kept standing out. I could go on and on about all of the pluses of this machine. But most have already been covered in prior reviews. All I can say is that from a cost/value ratio, this machine is hard to beat. Yes, you can spend less (a lot less…) but it really comes down to your needs and what you expect your 3D printer to deliver. The Qid X-Plus is really well built. It runs quiet, has a large build platform, delivers a really nice output (of course this does depend on how you set up your print) and its dependable. Mine has been running for pretty much for the last three weeks straight. No problems. The fact that it can accept many different types of material is also a major plus. And lets face it, FDM material is a lot cheaper than SLA material. I have been running a lot of ABS and PETG thru my machine with zero problems. The Qidi Slicer it comes works well. As a matter of fact I find it quite competent and easy to use. I have also used Simplify3D and that also works well on this machine. You can get the profile from Qidi. So to sum it up, as one of the other reviewers has mentioned, it truly is “a beast”! You can not go wrong with this 3D printer. And before I go, I must give a special shout out to the Qidi support team (Hi Sophia!) As mentioned in other reviews, they really are fantastic and were a huge help when I updated the firmware in my machine. They are very quick to respond to any issues you might have. Their service is outstanding and overall very supportive. They pride themselves on this aspect of their business and they should because they stand behind their product that much. Well, as they say time is money. So don’t waste any more time debating. You will not regret your purchase of this Qidi X-Plus machine. That is of course unless you step up to the larger sized X-Max. (Yes….I do see that in my very near future!)

Easy to use. We pulled this out of the box, did some basic setup and started printing... knowing very little. We have printed quite a bit and have been having lots of fun! Support has been great and responsive as well on some questions, minor issues. We are overall very please with our purchase.

I was skeptical when searching for my first 3D printer and saw most of QIDI printers have 5 star reviews on Amazon. In my mind, this is just not possible at the time when the 3D printer market is so competitive and there are so many other low cost printers, but X-Plus came to the top of my list and I wanted to give it a try. I picked X-Plus because its size, look and included software. At that time, I didnt want to use other 3rd party slicing softwares. X-Plus is printable right out of the box, I was quite surprised. Three months later, this printer has accumulated over 1000 hours of print time, its almost non-stop. Ive gone through at least 3 nozzle changes(they actually could last longer I believe). There was one time the extruder was jammed due to tangled filament. I was able to get it back to working condition after watching the videos in the USB drive. The parts just make sense to take apart and put together over and over, I didnt frustrate at all. Now that I am more conformable with the printer and software, I actually moved on the use the latest CURA software and the results came out even better if you know what youre doing. Its not too hard to learn some tricks on Youtube. QIDIs support is just amazing. I received response usually the next day, and you can tell they really try to help you with with clear directions. I feel like the company is fully behind their product and I am comfortable to purchase more of their products down the road, like their new resin printer.
